I am thinking about taking a Dunelizard into PvP. A little bigger than a A - Wing and a little slower when it comes to accelerating and decelerating, but everything else looks good. Plus, ithas 20k more mass to offset the slight speed difference. Hmmm... Or am I nuts?

The Dunelizard's primary disadvantage, as you'll quickly discover, is its size. It is, in my opinion, simply too large for its mass to use in PvP. Pull it up beside an A-wing or an X-wing at a station sometime and compare closely. It's way, way bigger.

True. Something I noticed that a lot of Freelancer ships have in common.

OR, yuou could go imperial and use the interceptor, but kudos to you for going with something that suits or style, not the fad.

I am thinking it may not be the best, but it might have other perks. If it doesn't work, I can just pull outall the parts and put them ineither the Heavy Scyk or Vaksai with a lot moremass to spare. I would like the see the face of a JSF pilot after he has been blown up by someone in Dunelizard.

I think the Dunie is very capable ship. I would try to base it off a level 10 engine and work your way from there. I am curious as to what the weapon setup might be, if I were to guess, you might try a level 7 and 2 level 5s if you can squeeze them in.
But I figure the most important part will be your level 10 engine, to keep yourYPR high enough to out turn those smaller ships.

Agreed. Staying alive will bethe biggest challenge. I was figuring either a level 8 or 10 engine with the best PYR stats I could get. Then it would be a toss up between the shields and weapons. I have a pair of level 7 H-K Scorcher 3's I think which look promising to RE. I just need to keep collecting parts. Keeping both with good shields will be the trick. Aside from my engine and my capacitor, I really like my setup concept. I just know I need to trim more weight which will probably happen by the time I get Freelancer ace.

I used a Duny once - as noted I had size issues. One tip - don't fly it like an Interceptor or A-Wing. Not only is it bigger but it handles differently, and if I remember correctly it slides nicely too. Fly it like a heavier fighter class ship and you'll do better. If you get sucked into a spinning battle the size of the Dunelizard will get you killed quickly, unless you're a crack shot and can take out the other guy quickly.

Ive used lvl 10 engine/lvl 6/7 gun combo.... works nicely in 1v1 setups... Something that dont happen a lot to me on Starsider... Its mostly 2-3-4-5 rebels vs me and possibly a friend

QFE.
I don't care how good you are as a pilot, the size of this ship will bite you in the buttocks. Trust me, i found out first hand. In a (ROTW ship) furball i orginally started in a dunelizard.
I was 2 deaths to 0 kills. I quickly landed and changed ships.
Instant i flew the same ships everyone else was flying, i stopped dying, and started killing.
Bad example i know, but beleive me, that ships size is an arse biter.

I killJSF's near daily in my ARC-170 with little to no issues. Lvl 10 engine starmap shields and I can usually take 3 or 4 out (thats 3 or 4 vs 1)before I get turned to dust. Its not the ship imo, its the pilot.

Whilst this sounds great at first, its also completely wrong. Sure I may have vaped 30 nubship players in one trip to Kessel a couple of weeks ago (in an Xwing). That does NOT make the JSF balanced. It just means I am even better than they were!
A better example is - Take me and clone me, give me1 a JSF with the best components, give me2 ANY non ROTW ship with the best components. Then let me1 and me 2 fight 100 times. We all know who would be the winner then.
