Pilot Archive
Thread: Ok then. That was almost too fun for PvE
- Two B-wings piloted by Rac'el and Yelina
- One Advanced X-wing piloted by Kyan
- My A-wing (shocked?)
- And one YT-1300 crewed by Ruak (Cptn), Shonaa (Shona who kindly came over from Valcyn for the night to fill in the gap on theYT), Firespay (A friendly Trando) and Vihoo.
I extend further thanks to Stormwraith who volunteered to fraps the event. I'll be downloading the clips from him and editing them into somthing pretty hopefully. He was very happy with some of the shots he got.
So as you can see from the ship turnout, it wasvaried from the lightest speed demon Interceptor, to the heaviest Tank, gunboat killing machines and a POB crew who did real well considering they were working as a collective for the first time. We thought out the strategy as to how we were going to handle the mission as we went.We completed the whole thing in one shot which I was impressed with.
On the first round, the single gunboat which spawned got completely ganked. It must have lasted all of 15 seconds. Second round withtwo gunboats, they both went down quickly. Third round, I 'kited' them on (as in led them on awildegoose chase whiile the others smashed them from behind). Now this..might soudn easy but it wasn't. These gunboats appear to fly at a percentage of the mission activater'stop speed and that was me. My top speed is 1480 with EO4and the chase ships who were dealing the damage had trouble keeping up at first. So what they told me to do was arc my trajectory so they could fly at a tangent inwards at the gbs. As the odds became better, I'd then double back and we'd decimate them the old fashioned way. This continued until the mission's climax where we ended up fighting around the Avatar platform.
Now this was the icing on the cake, really it was..and I can't wait to see the raw footage, but it was totally unplanned. It was so cinematic with the three remaining gunboats, several orbital defence batteries and a huge base in the centre going off at us while we battled. I was like /jaw drops! Anyway, I must congratulate those who flew combat in the event for excellent flying because every ship taking part apart from my own were large multirole starships. I had the easy job in a light manouverable fast ship, but the B-wings, X-wing and YT were true heroes.
Anyways..time to start work on the In Character report to go with the 'movie' ![]()
Oh also...this mission dragged us all over the system and felt so er..wholesome? and involving. The fact that we turned a duty mission into an event just said somthing for what a little imagination and player cooperation could do. Again, salutations to everyone involved.

Woah! Awesome! Can't wait to see that footage!
Admittedly it is going to take a while to edit but yeh, as soon as I have it done, I'll find somewhere to stick it and provide the link for download.

If it's not too much trouble, Jawa, could you email me the un-edited, raw footage? I'd love to see all of it.I'll PM you my email if you don't mind sending it.
The unedited footage is 19GB of AVI's. That's a G in there

The unedited footage is 19GB of AVI's. That's a G in there. I recorded at 1024x768 without sound too. We were on site for about 1.5 hours. I didn't record all of that. But, I did get quite a bit.
Woah! In that case, I'll just wait for the edited footage, I think this crappy ol' laptop's only got 3 times that amount left. LOL

The only part about the POB that was a problem was that I told the pilot I was following but not the gunners. So, one of them saw a TIE Advanced following and started acting according to his rebel scum natureAll it did was make me panick because I didn't have my HUD up and so I kept spamming my shield shunt command.
LOL That's hilarious! I can't remember, is Shona Rebel?

Firespray admitted to it.
