Thread: Anyone ever fly or face off against a Vaksai in PvP?

I'm wondering how they stack up and compare...

what are they like to fly in pvp?

what are they like to face in pvp?

on stats, they seem pretty impressive.... but that doesn't always translate right

Ive seen one, once.

My thoughts at the time:

"wow hes big" followed by, "wow hes FAST", which was quickly succedded by "damn hes quick"

about 2 mins later

"Phew he's dead, that was a first, never seen that before"

Overall, they have everything going for them but their size, and it did give me a good startle the first (and as so far only) time ive seen one in pvp.

As for size:

Vicious in PvP in the right hands. They slide like crazy, which gives them great targeting. Big guns, big engine. Only downside is that if your opponent gets a bead on you, the Vaksai is a huge target.

Flown against quite a few. Like Nesa said, hell of a sliding ship, so they can keep a nice bead on you. And with their mass and only one hardpoint, odds are it's a level 10 gun shooting at you (if it's a good pilot, it will definately be one). So, pretty much, a fast sliding one-hitter.

But, the downside is they are a huge target, comparatively. Smaller then most of the freelance ships, but that's not saying much. I'd say odds are about 65/35 for me winning against them, simply cause my Opp can slide better then they can.

All in all, great addition to the Freelancers out there, and one of the better RoTW ships (yes, I think the JSF and B-22 are bad).

My advise if you flying Vaksai...use the fastest crafted engine you can mount on it...and EO4...
Crafted Mk V engine will have on average around 63 YPR. Toss in EO4 and you have a YPR equivalent to about 80 which is enough for you to turn your ship around fast enough.

On fighting, don't go into the tight looping battle thing. Use the extreme speed to your advantage. With the speed one can get out of effective weapons range in 3 to 5 seconds.

I just got mine for my alt about a week ago. As a loooooong time Interceptor pilot let me just say that I am serriously thinking about making this toon freelance just so I can fly one. To me, the Vaksai is that good.

Not only does it handle like a dream, the mass + the manuverability almost makes me feel like i'm 'sploiting. I don't feel this guilty flying my RGI.

The Vaksai seems to move as well if not better than an Interceptor or TIE/H. This is based on feel in flight not off any hard numbers.

The mass allows me to drop a nice RE'd lvl10 engine that is giving me 80+ PYR and96 top speed (with EO4 and a nice little lvl10 booster she screams). For weapons i've got a nice RE'd lvl8 that is doing enough damage to be a one hit wonder while saving me some mass for anice RE'd reward shiled that gives me 2500+ f/b. Add to that a couple of 1500+ slabs of armor and she is ready for war.

I've also got a IR2 launcher in there but i think I may go to protons soon. All the cool kids are doing it.

As for the size...damn she's a big girl. But that works to my advantage. Most people think big ship=slow. So that drops their guard and once that happens I've pretty much already won...they just don't know it yet.

I have found that with the right load out she is a great jouster. I've never been a fan of the circle jerk anyway, but with the mass of the vaksai i can joust and take some punishment, and then be right behind you before you know it.

As for going upagainst the sissy ships (JSF/B-22) they are no problem. I can take whatever they shoot at me and can one shot disable them before they have a chance to hit me a second time.

The only ship that I would worry about, as always, would be a heavy X. Although there are some very good ARC crews out there who might make me a bit nervous.

Overall I'd say this is the best addition to the Freelance line up and a ship that will for sure knock the wind out of the JSF/B-22 pilots.

I'm working on my Vaksai now, getting it PvP ready.
But it's still a month or two away from being ready for DS.

Must get a 100+ speed pre-re QID for it.

As the others said, speed is the key in this ship. The faster, the better.

another fun thing for me (being rebel in DS), is to engage imps at the SD after letting off a few shots at it. It slows me down to about 20 FPS, but I know it's hell for most people's systems. Makes it REALLY easy to kill them.

What a cheap kill, where's the glory in that? I hope you're not trying to brag.

I'm almost to the point where I won't ambush someone anymore. I'll fly in circles sending them warning tells until they go live to fight me. I'll wait while someone is AFK so I can have the fun of dogfighting them, rather than an honorless kill. I can barely stand to fly the RotW ships into combat, because anything that gives me an unbalanced edge feels cheap. Your strategy there isn't far from exploiting.

Not bragging at all. We were talking about some dirty tricks in combat. Hey, at least I am not fake missle spamming. And don't lay down the exploit. Grow a sense of humour. The majority of people know when they come to Deep Space, there will be lag. It's one of the biggest complaints. So I am to sit there and wait as they de-lag? How exactly do I know when they are in the clear again? When my ship blows up?

And I am a smuggler. I get paid to do a job. I do it. Honour never helped those I killed.

that's just pathetic....... all you do is make the situation worse by hitting the ISD.... that's honorless, if they are lagging while fighting and u didn't do anythign to cause it.. then that's fine, but trying to make it worse is just stupid, IMO fighting in space is fun, people who load camp and EP3 and other crap like that, need to learn how to fly

For extra fun, Vaksai owners, try slapping on a nice lvl 4 REed booster. Seriously. With our slide, you can hold down boost and literally scream around them for a good 17+ seconds. Very frustrating for them.

As for my Vaksai in PvP. 1 REed lvl10 gun, serious maneuvering, and ePulse3 just in case. I mean c'mon, Jotun plays on my server. Can never be TOO careful.
