Thread: Anyone ever fly or face off against a Vaksai in PvP?
Waarangel wrote:For extra fun, Vaksai owners, try slapping on a nice lvl 4 REed booster. Seriously. With our slide, you can hold down boost and literally scream around them for a good 17+ seconds. Very frustrating for them.
As for my Vaksai in PvP. 1 REed lvl10 gun, serious maneuvering, and ePulse3 just in case. I mean c'mon, Jotun plays on my server. Can never be TOO careful.
Why bother with EP3? All you get is a dead target.
Me...I like to see my opponents limp, so I usually use EP2. My opponent has to waste time now recharging sheilds with a shunt (that way he can't shoot me). And asses any damage that might have gotten past his sheilds or armour(if he has any). Heck, in a 1 on 1 situation, sometimes I unload some chaff just to add to the confusion. He now has to check to see if some one else is in the area. The more information the baddie has to process the better for me. Negative timeframing is such a elegant tactic to use against a baddie.
I was like that in "Ghost Recon"...I'd shoot a guy with a silenced MP at long range and watch him limp around trying to look for cover.
I'm conident I could terrify people with one. Afterall, it seems to just be an uber buffed A-wing on speed
. However, it is huge so I'm not entirely confident in that respect and the weapon spread isn't exactly fantastic.
I must say that for a Freelancer ship, it looks sweet as.
As for facing them in pvp, each one I faced didn't last long, but I don't thinkt hey were set up very efficiently. I mean this is a commmon mistake with inexperienced pilots and hugely massed ships. Their mass management is terrible and they don't set the ship up right. Now pilot skill i the largest factor imo however, if a ship isn't set up in a way which reflects it's strengths and compensates for it's weaknesses then that just makes it more likely that an enemy who knows what they're doing is going to kill you.
I love the Vaksai. I really want to try one out and if I could tear myself away from my A-wing, I would ![]()

that's just pathetic....... all you do is make the situation worse by hitting the ISD.... that's honorless, if they are lagging while fighting and u didn't do anythign to cause it.. then that's fine, but trying to make it worse is just stupid, IMO fighting in space is fun, people who load camp and EP3 and other crap like that, need to learn how to fly

What a cheap kill, where's the glory in that? I hope you're not trying to brag.

another fun thing for me (being rebel in DS), is to engage imps at the SD after letting off a few shots at it. It slows me down to about 20 FPS, but I know it's hell for most people's systems. Makes it REALLY easy to kill them.
I'm almost to the point where I won't ambush someone anymore. I'll fly in circles sending them warning tells until they go live to fight me. I'll wait while someone is AFK so I can have the fun of dogfighting them, rather than an honorless kill. I can barely stand to fly the RotW ships into combat, because anything that gives me an unbalanced edge feels cheap. Your strategy there isn't far from exploiting.
Not bragging at all. We were talking about some dirty tricks in combat. Hey, at least I am not fake missle spamming. And don't lay down the exploit. Grow a sense of humour. The majority of people know when they come to Deep Space, there will be lag. It's one of the biggest complaints. So I am to sit there and wait as they de-lag? How exactly do I know when they are in the clear again? When my ship blows up?
And I am a smuggler. I get paid to do a job. I do it. Honour never helped those I killed.
Honour is the wrong word to use. The right word should be courtesy and the preservation of fun. Lag is not fun, missile spammign isn't either and worse of the lot is E-pulse. If you're going to try space combat there is only one true way and that is by flying and using personal skill combined with tricking your ship out (legally) to keep it alive as long as possible. Anything which just removes the fun or is almost impossible to counter isn't fun.
Vaksai are cool though. ![]()
OMG people! Preach to someone who cares. Didn't you read? We were joking about dirty exploits that have been used in space PvP. I know at least one person got it. Sheesh.
I have no need for any dirty tricks in space, I assure you. Shame you aren't on my server.
Just lighten up. We were discussing the benefits of the Vaksai, and went for a brief detour talking about lame ways to kill. Get over it, then get on with it.
Oooh, I should really ignore this thread, but I can't.

Don't be a jerk. You're posting random crap about someone you don't know. Plenty of pilots will vouch for me, I've sat and waited while someone finished running droid programs before. Why? I want the game to be fun. They were fair game, I had a clean shot, but guess what? Ganking isn't fun for me, definitely isn't fun for them, and if it's not fun for them they won't fly in DS anymore. Try not to be a jerk in future postings and twist my words - it isn't funny.
Regarding the other lot of garbage that this thread degenerated into - just be honest about what you do. I'll be honest about what I do - if I can'ttake them in a fair fight, I'd rather die than abuse the system.
Edited to tone down my post-workday grumpyness. I dislike having my words changed by the inept.

It doesn't hurt if people just empathise the values of playing fair. The thing you have to apprciate with thread topics is yeh, they go off on wild tangents and thats because peopel debate. It is kind of annoying but telling people not to do that is like telling Darth Vader not to wear black.

The Vaksai is my primary PvP ship.
Basically I'm sitting on a fast engine, biga$$ gun and a Proton IV Launcher. Light shields and armor. All equipment on the ship is crafted, with many items tweaked over and over again until I had a nice loadout.
With my standard engine mounted, I cruise at 1495 with EO3 and boost up to 1819. I use my Experimental blaster, currently experimented for quickfire (0.27). I prefer the Proton IV missiles, experimented for a fast target lock and a little extra damage, which means I usually carry around 8-10 on board.
I've used the ship initially for head-on attacks at top speed, but I've found the ship to be very effective in dogfighting too. Especially with missiles that will lock on a target fast. Right now, most of my kills are from dogfighting rather than speed attacks.
For all intents and purposes, I'm still a PvP pilot-in-training, getting used to my ship, so I haven't used EP3 much, although I've experimented with it occasionally.
When I decide my PvP training is complete, then I'll add the Energy Pulse tactic to my repertoire. Right now, extended dogfights are more desirable for learning.
Overall I think the Vaksai may present a larger target than most other PvP ships in use, but don't let its size fool you. It is a fast, agile and absolutely deadly ship in the hands of the right pilot.

She's exactly right..with Nvarra AND Jotun on the same server, going to DS is damn near hazardous to your health. That's why if I ever go through there Overt and cycle through their names, I'll hide under the ISD until my hyper is up and off I go to Endor.
My poor little JSF or Oppressor isn't really outfitted to deal with those two characters.

Too bad tbh, lighten up old boy. Personally I agree with your points and lame is lame, whatever the justificationbut there is no point in getting that wound up. If you don't fly is DS anymore thats just cutting your nose of to spite your face, you lose nothing from dieing afterall.

Ahh, the mighty Vaksai. This is my personal favorite ship to dogfight in (close second being the Tie Advanced). The thing I love most about this ship is its versatility:
If you want to set it up for speed - you can, and no ship in the game can catch you, while still being fully combat capable. You can have both.
If you want to set it up for PYR - you can, and if you have a great level 10 engine RE, you will find few opponents (in dogfighters) that can match you.
Because of it's speed and/or maneuverablility options, you can also choose whether you want lots of shields/armor, or lots of firepower, regardless of whether you chose speed or maneuverability.
The only thing that's really not negotiable on the Vaksai is the weapon. While a fantastic level 7 RE might be enough, I really think the weapon should be level 8 or higher, preferrably a great/fantastic RE. This is for both PvE, and PvP.
And finally, if you have the parts: You can field fantastic speed, maneuverability, firepower, and defenses. No other dogfighter can really do this as well as the Vaksai. While it can be argued that the Actis/Belb, Heavy X-wing, and even the standard X-wing can also field great setups in these categories, I personally feel that the Vaksai does it better. This is just my opinion, and is certainly subject to (possibly heated) debate, but I feel that the Vaksai, with the right gear and in the hands of a great pilot, is a truly wicked ship. I would love to hear Leaph's tales of flying a Vaksai...if he ever does, heh.
The only real negative is the size of the ship. It is quite large compared to the rest of the dogfighters. However, I feel that the versatility that this ship brings to the table more than offsets that.
I am undefeated in PvP in my Vaksai, and I would say that I don't really even have *good* parts, much less fantastic/uber ones. But that time is approaching...
I have never flown againts one, unfortunately.
Everything in my post is just my opinion, and is certainly subject to debate.
Ducimus said a couple of weeks back that *I have big plans for this bird...* I wonder whatever came from that? I would be interested to hear his account of the ship.
Domingo
Again, just to reiterate my original point, I think the Vaksai is the single BEST fighter for PvP.
Granted, I do use my JSF when engaging in capital ship style PvE, simply because I don't like getting hit all the time. NPC turrets seem to rarely miss me in my Vaksai.
And finally, it's just a cool looking ship. So cool I even made some wallpapers of it. ![]()
