Thread: Tomo, you'd better do something fast, because Space PvP Balance just went out the window!

According to the devs, ONLY people who've done the jedi fighter quest can use the jedi fighter. Same goes for everyone who does the ARC-170 quest and ect. Now normally, this wouldn't be a problem, but wait, Rebels can't DO the Jedi fighter quest. And the Jedi fighter looks like it's gonna be the win all in pvp. So now the balance in space, which before this was about the ONLY place that WASbalanced, is gone. Rebels won't be able to even get near to the imps in pvp anymore, as a Jedi fighter has TWICE the firepower of an A-Wing or Heavy Z-95. The devs have now broken everything.

It's not ships that win fights, its pilots that win fights. I have won PVP battles in my Tier 1 Y-Wing. Relax. Remember when most people didn't know how to kill TIE Agressors because the turret gun was WAY TOO GOOD! Now most of us laugh at that.Remember when the Corvette seemed impossible? Now most of us vets have done it several times, and maybe even soloed it once or twice. Everytime something comes up there is a learning curve. Sure the first couple of people to get Jedi Starfighters might rule, but there will be tactics to beat them. Look at the imp pilots that had to deal with the A-Wing. Nowwe with our A-Wings need to figure out the Jedi Starfighter. Then when our best pilots learn how to beat them the knowledge will filter down and we will complain about something else.

You have never P'vP'ed on Starsider I see....there are lots fo great pilots so in the end having balanced equipment is very important. This is a very valid argument about PvP being unblanced with the new ROTW ships.

You kidding? Space was never balanced very well to begin with. Imperial pilot always had the upper hand in space PvP.

If you ask me what really borked space PvP is the heavy version of the starter ships.

10.5 yaw and pitch accleration and 5.2 roll accelration, in a 95K mass chassis that has a small profile.

Awing, T/I, and T/A are more or less obsolete now, and theyve been made obsolete from a ship you can fly at novice.

As far as PvP in space goes, pretty much everyone who's mastered pilot can kill pretty much anyone else in 1-3 shots. Yes, the imps have always had a slight advantage, but it was still far more balanced than on the ground.

I know it may sound silly, and I'll get laughed at but although I love my A-wing I'm the kind of guy that loves the ship that can do it all well.

So, I use the A-wing once in a while, but I still prefer the X-wing for most things most of the time even in PVP. And, our new heavier X-wing, if I understand it correctly, has the same specs but higher mass. This means it can have even greater offense and defense than before, WOOT.

But, with that said. I was truly hoping to fly the Jedi fighter, and I am let down by this. Shoot, they can have the arc fighter, don't even like that one /lol.

the Heavy version fighters should have had some speed/maneurvability penalties vs their lighter weight relations....

though i was kinda hoping the royal interceptor was going to be able to mount 2 blasters, like everything else......ah well

the grievous starfighter is not tied to any faction, rebels, neutrals and imperials can all do the quest and get it.

it has the same PYR stats as the starter ships, 90k mass and 2 guns...

Your arguments hold though... the balance is dead.

but its not the rebel vs. imperial balance... its the new vs. old balance.

New ships should NOT be incredibly superior to the old ones... just a bit different and cool.

If my grievous had half the PYR stats it has now i might be tempted to use it... as it is now i would feel very cheap and uncool if i flew it in pvp.

I brought this issue up in beta as soon as I saw the stats on the Jedi Starfighter and that it would be Imperial-only, and I'm going to continue to bring it up until there's a viable way for everyone to fly that ship.

What exactly ARE the stats?

All ive heard was small profile, 90K mass ( i thnk), and 2 gun mounts.

What exactly is the YPR rating? I just cant get excited and scream about it until i know how this thing flies.

You are right I have never done any PVPing on Starsider. I made a toon, but with less playing time, it is hard to give up time on my main Sullustan Mogee. Sunrunner PVP is sparse at best. Since you guys are so organized over there, have you ever thought of doing your PVP in classes?

Outlaw: Anything goes.

Might be a fun way to do things if people would stick to it.

This is being discussed HEAVILY in the "New Ship Stats Thread"

I suggest checking in there. And I can guarentee that Tomo is all over these issues and quite aware.
