This was a hot topic awhile back, i have my opinion in it, but i was kinda curious as to what everyone else thought. Probably a loaded poll, but.....

Q.)your opinion on the droid command system in place:

If you can, please respond with the option that best reflects your opinion:

- Their fine, leave it exactly as it is now!

- Fix WO3, and its fine.

- Fix WO3, and lets see what happends

- Bad idea, poorly conceptualized, entirely needs to be rethought out.

- Should be more like the sim series with E/W/S energy management.

- other.

Again, not intended as a debate, (and beleive me, this can get into a lengthy debate). It's just a feeler on what the general populace thinks.

Should have been/should be changed to the sim series

This way, they could *un-MMO* the twitchy part of this game that they felt the need to *MMO*, make it faster, and crank up the difficulty a bit.

I personally think space would be a lot more fun, and more involved with this system. Just leave the specials like B-strike on the timers they currently reside on.

Other... I like the way they are now but I really don't care if they fix WO3. Like I tell everyone that complains about thier cap not recharging fast enough... "Shoot less... hit more."

I use less capacitor energy when I'm using WO3 then when I'm not... weird

Yes, WO3 lowers your cap energy usage. Its a bug.

I can't honestly say I care one way or the other. I'd like to see it fixed just so that all the bugs in regards to droid programs are fixed. If they don't, oh well. If they do, then I'll probably step down to WO1 or 2. No big deal.

Droid commands are pretty low on my list of things to fix with JTL. Even WO3 is a minor thing. Although it would be nice if they reduced the command time for the overload programs.

I don't think a major overhaul is needed, but I would be curious to know what the original play for these programs was. Were we supposed to run the big four all of the time? I don't think so - or NPCs would have been buffed up a bit, especially in terms of speed.

CtSS is another interesting program I'd like to see tuned. Any pilot with half a brain running the four overloads and this program can basically survive any NPC mission. This one ought to have a timer, or do damage to the shields, or something. Then even with DS repairs you be limited in it's usage, since each flight out a component would get worse and worse as you used it.

Hmm, I'm not sure I'd go for a CTSS nerf. In thinking of the old way the X-Wing games ran it, I think it was balanced there. It does feel a bit overpowered here. The problem though is in the speed with which a capacitor reloads. CO3 or 4 make your CTSS godly, maybe a bit too godly. But I think balancing them presents all kinds of problems.

Perhaps make it more like X-Wing, which I think was balanced. There you would have significantly reduced energy drain from firing, but the recharge was slower. Also that games version of CTSS had zero timer, but only refilled small bits of shield at a time and took a GREAT deal of weapon power to recharge your shield even as much as 30%. That seemed pretty fair.

Then again, so did having the ability to change your power drain to give more to engines, shield or weapon recharge... but never all 3 at once.

Yes, being able to change your power distribution on the fly to fit the needs of the situation would be fantastic...and as I remember it, it took about 2.5 completely charged cap-shunts to boost your shields to maximum, double front and back. Another thing missing, which is terrible...being able to change your shield configuration on the fly as well. I don't know about anyone else, but when JTL was announced, I said to myself *OMG, I can play X-wing again, but more open-ended and with great visuals*...then I started in the beta, and immediately noticed the lack of power and shield distribution that was immediate, and the way they implemented those commands. Disappointment does not even come close to describing my reaction.

They had a fantastic system at their fingertips, and did not use it...why? As I said, if it used this system, combat would be a lot faster, a lot more inter-active...and they could really make most of the content more exciting.

i'm for a sim-style EWS system, and anything that involves pilot strategy and tradeoff choices in-flight. I know I'd love to dump my weapon recharge to engines when my mission target is 12km away, too

The first step should, of cause, be to fix the bugs so that the system becomes what it was designed to be.

Considering that weapons overload is an imperial program, and that imperial ships have 2 guns point as a maximum. With two guns, and a good capacitor WO3 and WO4 should allow for short bursts of high damage output. Much like if the ship had 3 or 4 guns instead. As they increase both reactor drain and energy per short.
It is the bug that causes and imbalance, especially when it is used in a ship with 3 or 4 guns.

Now as for the use of programs, It does take a little to long to run 4 programs on start up. I really would like the ability to launch in to space and be ready to go at once, instead of sitting around running programs. No waiting after they took effect would be nice, perhaps have a shorter pause before instead. So that if we trickeries a droid program it would take 1-5 to take effect depending on the DI's speed and the programs level.

I honestly think that fixing WO3 would bring CtSS's power back down to sane levels...

Or rather, it will leave you with the choice: defense or offense?

I mean...An advanced X or a kraytfiring full bore with those crafted level 9sshould be using... what?Somewhere between 180-250+capacitor energy a second? 120+ on the "unholy" two-gunmedium interceptors? Your spare capacitor energy isn't going to be going up very fast, if at all, given those adjusted numbers, even with CO4.

So a pilot would have to quit doing the offense thing and stick to defense until he can start firing again. Or become a better shot. Either way it is going to enhance/change thegameplay experience to the point that we should have a look at CtSS after the WO3 fix comes down. If it ever comes down.

Keep in mind folks this is meant as a poll.

I was planning on making a seperate post in detail later after some poll results for debate. But if the thread takes off on its own so be it i guess. Kinda hard to vote and not state why you feel the way you do.

Guess ill vote.

My opinion:

- Bad idea, poorly conceptualized, entirely needs to be rethought out.

Orginaly i was a fan of the EWS system but have since changed my mind for various ingame mechanical reasons. Although EWS would be my prefered choice.

Just leave it alone. We don't need more bugs and nerfs done in the name of "balance" or "fixing" things. Who the hell cares about the npc missions, and whether this makes them easier or harder? I know I just want to make Ace so I can get into Deep Space and pvp.
