Thread: SOE pulls yet another fast one on the community...

Why show us if they are not going to give us ?
Its like showing a tiger a big juicy steak inches away from its face and then put it in your pocket....The tiger "us" is going to attack the trainer "SOE"

It's called a "Fan Fest." While some of it is discussion about the game, some of it is just to let them "show off." Were the people at Fan Fest told this was upcoming content? Has SOE pushed people into viewing the video as a trailer for content? Frankly, what exactly were you shown? No ownership, no multi-player support, no use in standard space sectors.... if you were given what was shown on that video, you'd be whining about *that*.

imo smoke screen. notice how they say one thing in one chat, but just two weeks ago or so they said cap ships were complete but awaiting a few technological hurdles to be overcome? NOW a week later it's incomplete, and just an idea off a developers desk? whatever.
it's just meant to deflect the question "why not now?"
the answer to that question is of course: lucasarts. money. trials of obi wan.
don't worry, we'll get our cap ships, as soon as lucasarts stops milking EP3 for all it's worth. i'd be prepared to wait a while. (read: 1 year)

I was thinking something along those lines.
Overall i am not suprised. Personnally id be happy if they just FIXED THE DAMN GAME. Even if player vettes were added, what the heck are we gonna do with them? Not like we really have a use for POBs anyway, patch 24 buff or not. They're a total novelty, and haven't, and wont see much use once that novelty wears off.
Anyway, anything that does not generate new revenue they will not do. (IE new expansions, and no bug fixes). Unless existing revenue is threatned they are not going to do squat. It would take nothing less then a massive community wide boycott of the game to get their attention. Unfortunatly that high degree of community coordination and commitment isnt possible. Nice thought though, if all of a sudden 80% of they're playerbase cancled and put a petition in front of their faces that essentually spelled: "Stop the moneygrubbing BS, Fix the game, or, Ta Ta' no paycheck for you!" *sigh* one can only dream.

(Rogue_5) No, there is no estimate right now.
I've even read bits from the Fan Fests where the devs say they're unsure how to intergrate this stuff into the game without totally messing things up.
However I think what you find is that they mean it's not being further developed at this stage and when they do work on it; so don't expect it to come out like it was in the video.

If people merely cancelled, they'd just nerf JTLS and let the Jedi run rampant as usual. People petitioning with online games does -nothing- especially if you're SOE. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the pilot community all cancelled, they'd graft the EP III era over the whole game and remove all GCW related things 
. I sometimes feel that it is just the pilot community who gives a damn about proper Starwars (that is Ep IV to VI kiddies).
I doubt SOE have any moral love for the game. They just see the Starwars 'brand' as a logo to which they can exploit with. I mean hell, I could name people that if somthing was released like a dirty cancer inducing tea towel in shops, but with the StarWars logo they'd buy it.
I'm only still playing this game because the people I play with on Starsider push aside all the bugs and make somthing of the good points with the game. I mean, to be honest the good points aren't just good, they're great but from an actual purely consumer point of view, the service and game isn't good enough because the bugs which do exist cripple some big aspects of the game for some people.
