Thread: How To Fix The horible Lag On The ISD In Deep Space

It was the Combat Upgrade that changed the ISD and caused all the lag. The devs added quite a few guns to the ISD to close all the blind spots on the ship. The addition of those guns caused the lag.

And no, the ISD doesn't have 99 guns or 100 guns. It has far fewer. Try actually cycling through the targets--the numbers skip quite a bit.

It's a relitively simple fix but it would make things a lot better. Make the guns on the ISD fire less often and make them hit harder when they do. The lag in my experiance is casued when all the guns open up at once and your in a **edit** storm of lasers that your machine cannot draw and the game cannot process.

If say only 1/4 of the guns were fireing at any one time the lag would be cut down considerably. It wouldnt affect how hard it is to kill the ISD as the guns woudl hit 4 times as hard when they did hit you. This would need to be balanced, my figures are just guesses but I realy think this would help the lag a lot.

What do you guys think

A simple way fo reducing lag, would be to make the guns stagger fire not all at once. AND more importantly make the ISD opaque to its own fire so the guns on the bottom cant shoot throuygh the ship when you are trench running it! Oh, and get rid of those crappy guns that are hiddne somewhere inside it too!

Those are annoying. I just went up to take out every single gun for the hell of it and couldn't get to 0,1,6, or 7. Can't even bring up a yellow box on those.

Before ROTW the ISD was fine. In my mind it was harder to take out then, than it is now. But they had to change the blind spot, didn't they? They could have easily fixed that without having every god damn gun fire and spew crap into DS so that you grind to a halt. If they want you to stop, put a tractor beam on the thing.

All they need to do, is revert back to how it was pre-ROTW, then we would have no lag. The most annoying thing is when you are flying round the ISD taking out the spawns, and some muppet comes along to flare up the ISD. If I ever take the ISD, I di it when I'm alone and I've cleared all the spawns. If anyone else, Imp or reb is in DS I leave the ISD well alone. It annoys me that people can be so selfish as to try to take the ISD when somene is clearly fighting TIEs close by.

Sorry, I had a muppet do this to me last night and it got me miffed. I had to tell him to leave the thing alone in the end. So he followed me round DS, till he got bored when I just sat still in the centre of DS talking to a mate.

I'm almost certain I've sat underneath the ISD in a JSF and it was still a blind spot, so it may have been snuck in a while after ROTW.

I was drinking mind, maybe I just thought I was invincible.

It's not just the "Muppets" that trigger it off, any NPCs that come in range and open up on it also will...

Sometimes I'll go in and strip it's guns just so it's not an issue later.. it's rare that someone's gone in and blown it after I've asked them to leave it alone, and explain why..

The difference is that, from underneath, you can't do any relevant damage to the Star Destroyer. Pre-CU, it was possible to blow up almost all of the ISD's critical components from blind spots.

so in DS i can safely fly near the ISD and kill the TIEs, as long as i dont let a shot hit the ISD it wont shoot at me? when i went to see it i was scared to get too close figuring the ISD might agro and i didnt wanna get blasted by 99 guns.

Just think of it as a 99-gun salute vaguely pointed in your direction.

The reason the ISD lags so much is that ALL the guns will periodically fire on a target (even if they don't exist because they got blown up alread).

99% of the shots fired are phantom shots that don't do anything. Only the turrets near to you actually end up hitting. Fixing the ISD lag is as simple as fixing the phantom blaster issue.
