i kinda like the B-Wing it has room for the laser, two killing cannons and thanks to the way crafted tractorbeams are bugged and firing off all weapons points i get a grab on roids the first try every time.

Interesting. I've been using a heavy X and been planning on setting up a b-wing. I was going to go with 4 mining lasers as it seems like it would be way faster than screwing with a tractor beam. Maybe I'll hafta give the TB a shot though.

I'm using the rihk at the moment with 2 class 3 mining lasers and an advanced green for those stupid bandits.

With W03 running you can tear asteroids apart and blast the small chunks a lot quicker than a tractor beam, IMO.

I also have a /target asteroid;/follow; macro that helps a lot.

I am currently using a oppressor, but am working on getting my advanced set up for mining instead.
I have 1 mining laser and one tractor beam. Hmm now that I think about it, many I should use my JSF for mining instead.

In addition, in case you did not know it, if you are close enough with the tractor beam turned on when you fragment the big chunks, you will instantly scoop up all the small chunks. It make mining a lot more efficient.

The B wing is truly an excellent mining ship, although I really wish the designers do not read this thread. It is capable of self defense with two mounts of guns, a mining laser and the tractor beam at the lower turret. You have to adjust it somewhat when the chunk comes closer though, but it is useful to see how the mount works anyway.

Pardon my ignorance but what's wrong with crafted tractor beams?

I use the Krayt mostly. I don't know why people put in killing cannons, twin 1.5k mining cannons do plenty 'o damage to the assortment of Tier 1-3's that get in the way during mining.

X-wing all the way. Two mining lasers on the tips and a tractor beam mounted on the centerline. Long as I'm mining in a low-danger system (which is usually the case), no worries about offensive capabilities.

I'm the same, krayt with the mining cannons. I must be missing something about the crafted tractor beam too I think

Nothing at all, I just seem to mine faster with lasers.

Rest of my guild uses the tractor beam just fine.

nothing is wrong in tractoring but on some rebel ships atleast if you mount a tractor on them it fires from all gun mounts lol. Ionic Pulse Weapon does this on the X-Wing, put it on the center mount and its blue orbs come off the tips since it doesnt have a weapons graphic.

My neutral guy uses the Krayt and my Reb uses the Y Wing Longprobe. When my Reb makes Ace I may try the B-Wing and see how that does.
