basicly when i read these boards i get the feeling most use intercepter class fighters(A-Wing, JSF, TIE/In, RGI, and the B22)but me being the person that perfers something big and plow my enemy head on, i currently fly an Xwing(though i still have a love for the Longprobe).

basicly if i goto deep space is there a place for a Rhino in a world filled with Roadrunners?

Yes, but there is little room for mistakes.

pretty much what kharn said, an x wing can be pretty evil, if you dont screw up, otherwise it just makes a pretty fireball

As an Interceptor pilot, I HATE going up against either X-Wings or Oppressors. Both ships can sit and spin, and I have to fly straight for several shots to take them out. A good pilot in either of those is borderline terrifying.

But yeah, like above, just isn't much room for mistakes. If you fly a heavier ship you have to approach the fight much differently as well - don't let them draw you into a swarm.

Are you a pilot and not using Droid Commands?

Oh yeh, heavier fighters do come into their own at times. I'll never underestimate a B-wing devotee as an example.

Once killed 3 Rebel Players in deep space without noticing them in my Krayt.. thought they where NPCs they died so quick.

Only found out when they came back and ganked me.

JSF is about the best as it's small and harder to hit in the right hands.

lol

I have just picked up a b-wing after along time of thinking it would not suit a pvp role. But now that I've had a chance to paly around with it a bit, I will be going to pvp with it.

I never thought I'd be happy with a heavy fighter after flying the a-wing and the B-22, but I love my b-wing.

If I saw me comming, I'd be nervous, so should you.

If you are imperial andsee me, you better hope I don't see you.

(tbh, ill probably get owned the first few time, till I find a good method of attack for this monster)

I'm flying a standard X-Wing at the moment, and was called suicidal for it in the recent group PvP on Starsider ... I think I managed to get a few shots in, and took a few, but didn't die...

b-wing should be a better ship. it's hitbox is a travesty. i'm surprised more b-wing pilots aren't extremely vocal about the injustice of it.

for that matter x-wing pilots have a gripe as well, considering a direct hit can be scored between the open wings.

i've been out of the loop for a while building a new machine and waiting for pilots on my server to start taking their POBs up... perhaps heavy fighters will find a touch more love in taking out bigger ships. but then again, i don't know what the consenus has been so far in that regard.

Actually, I'd classify the JSF and other like ships as air superiority fighters. The Vaksai is pretty much the closest thing the game has to a big honkin' ship designed to run things down in a hurry, prosecute threats quickly, and get out before they get overwhelmed or destroyed.

Nothing that has a 5% speed *penalty* could ever be considered an interceptor. In fact, I think at least one ship has to have a speed *benefit*. The RGI would be a good candidate if they'd fix the damned hitbox - fix that and give it and the Vaksai a 5% speed benefit.

I (and my whole squadron for the most part) tend to fly Heavy Xs most of the time actually..... They've got a super heavy loadout, a good spread on guns, and decent most everything else. Its profile is the only real downer.

On Flurry, we've had a few large scale (40 players) battles in deep space, and my guild uses strictly Oppressors with one or two JSF pilots. We're planning on using some POBs now that they can actually take damage, but it;s been pretty much oppressors. I personally love my oppressor, mainly for the fact that I can fit my two level 9 guns, my 119.5 spd 75 YPR engine in it, and a mark 4 proton =) There's a reason I run my guild's navy haha! Still, I've seen some good pilots out and about using JSFs however, I am somewhat of a purist, and I refuse to fly one.
