I took out my Longprobe a while back and in one day killed two B-22s one JSF and a Heavy TIE. I only died to a TIE Advanced and he killed me twice. I haven't had it up for PvP since because I'm still tweaking the guns. Mass PvP is a bit different. The hitbox is so large random shots hit you but if you hold back from the furball and pick your targets you can make them work.

interesting i consider the X-Wing a Superourity fighter and the A-Wing an intercepter. i view the Xwing as something that can loiter and keep the airspace clear, basicly its a F14 Tomcat(even has the moving wings). i see the TIE as more of MiG, excelent intercepter but head to head with equal pilots id put money on the Xwing.
Bwings and Ywings are A10 Warthogs, slow, handle like bricks. but can deliver lots of hurt to anything in front of them.

I wouldnt give up my 3 missile slots on the oppressor for some crappy jedi ship.

That's correct. The Oppresser, Tie Bomber, Bwing and Ywing LP can all dish out tons of pain as missile boats. I'm sure POBs could unleash that same kind of destruction too.
Nah. POB's only get 2 Ordnance.
I like the Actis/JSf and the RGI, but have always had acertain affinityfor the down your throat approach.
To paraphrase a Solo line:
"I prefer a straight up fight to all this circling around."

YT-1300 = 2 ordnance, Nova + Deci = 3 slots. YT-2400 = ???

The Interceptor class ships are good because they are essentially 'pick up and play' fighters, they perform well even with an average/mediocre loadout, combing speed, agility and a small hitbox with the ability to mount decent firepower. with the current popularity of the JSF/GSF and heavies, and considering their advantages it might seem a little suicidal to give it up for a Larger, less maneuverable, ship.
To an extent this is true, if it comes down to a turning battle say between a JSF and an Oppressor, odds are that the JSF with its smaller hit box and superior maneuverability and speed will be able to position itself for a kill shot. However in a longer ranged engagement, the presence of 3 missile tubes will tip the odds far in favour of the Oppressor, and in a group type engagement where the oppressor can hang back and pick off fighters as they dance with your own they really show their worth. similar tactics can be used for the Longprobe or B-wing i would suppose, but the Tier 1 Y-wing is also something of a plum ship, having 1+1 weapons, meaning it can mix it up in combat and providing you have a good gunner, have some success.
Essentially an interceptor class ship is one you can solo in, and a bomber class ship is one you need to co-operate with other players in order to reach it's maximum potential.

well i just experimented with my advanced x wing in pvp, all i need is a better engine, and id say it does pretty well for itself out there, racked up more kills then losses

My suggestion is to fly the ships you want to fly. You will always run into people saying certain ships "pwn" while others don't but I know there are those out there that have dedicated themselves to certain ships and have tweaked their loadout as close to perfection for them as they can. Those are the players who will shut the naysayers of certain ships up.
Its all a matter of getting a loadout that works for you and knowing the strengths and weaknesses of your ship.

basicly when i read these boards i get the feeling most use intercepter class fighters(A-Wing, JSF, TIE/In, RGI, and the B22)but me being the person that perfers something big and plow my enemy head on, i currently fly an Xwing(though i still have a love for the Longprobe).
basicly if i goto deep space is there a place for a Rhino in a world filled with Roadrunners?
For me. the X-Wing is the only ship that makes me sit up in my chair, shoosh my wife, and really really focus on what I'm doing. Going against any other ship I can chit chat with the wife, take a bite of my sam'ich, and for some ships I can damn near AFK them. But not the X-Wing.
What really makes the X-Wing and Oppressors evil is the fact that, IMHO, they take far more skill to fly and fly well. For the rest of us speed freaks, it takes skill to be sure, but for the most part all we have to do is zip around and look skesay. But when you've got a good pilot who knows what he/she is doing and you put that pilot in an X or an Opp you're going to have a fight on your hands. You can't joust them like you can lighter ships because the big boys can absorb the punishment then cram even more punishment down your cram hole. You don't want to try to get into a circle jerk with them because again, in the hands of a good pilot, that big ship will sit and spin and cram it up your cram hole.
I salute anyone who can fly the hell out of an X-Wing, Oppressor, or any of the other big ships. Those people are the true Master Pilots and they keep the rest of us on our fast little toes

my only question for pvp are the gunships. Currently working on the best spread for an Arc-170. Probably going to put two Re'd 8's in the rear and a lev 7 re in the front. after that its a question of what i'm going to do.
I really think these will have some potential against POB's if the escorts don't take us out first.

the only ship i use for PVP is my Krayt, takes some skill, takes some talent, takes some balls, and takes some luck, but you can pull it off nicely if you know what youre doing.

After getting wiped in my B-22 by a Krayt and an enlightening conversation with the pilot afterward, I'm definetly looking into getting my Krayt outfitted for PVP.
