Its a pinky-blue colour, shame really, i'd love a red laser like my level 6. But the Tri Cannon you need to use to get that damage has the pinky-blue color, always seems to override all the others.

Well, the first gun you put in the component analysis tool determines which firing graphic gets used. Hoersch-Kessel Scorcher Advanceds (base gun for that RE job) happen to be purple lasers. Level 8 guns are pretty limited on their firing effects, though.
That's a nice one. Particularly the refire; not sure I've ever come across a level 8 that would drop that far.

There is a green L8 - the Sienar Flight System Spc Forces (actually spelled that way) Blaster. My heavy-hitting L8 uses on as the primary and it works fine. The controversy is that this is the bugged "Special Ops" blaster - it isn't - this puppy works fine - you just have to GET one. All the ones I have I've bought - never actually looted one.
My only regret is not naming it the "I Can't Believe It's Not Crafted" laser. My advice is to take yours and mate it with a sub-10k L6 blaster. You heard me - L6. You'd be ASTONISHED what you can do with one, and there are plenty of green L6s.
"I CAN TAKE THIS NOOB, HE'S ONLY USING CRAFTED LASERZ LOLOLZ!" *one load screen later* "OMG W...T...F HAX0R"

I have it sitting beside my 9920 mass 1800-2600 mass gun.
And its red, so i dare say you could get the same reaction.

Yeah, that's my reason for using standard-color bolts. My L6 is low 1800s to 2780, with .670/.680. Beats the hell out of my L7 - though I'm working on a substantially superior Boltdriver RE.
Probably half my offensive PvP kills come from spotting atypical weapon fire from long distances and examining the source, though.
Some pilots might think their fireball blasters are "tricked out" and all, but to me, it's just a big "HEY, HERE I AM, COME KILL ME" sign.
