Thread: Do Joy Sticks really work yet???

I bought the Logitec 3D Pro and it doesn't work. Here are the specifics...
I bought it weeks ago at which time it was configured to my computer.
I can't find anything in OPTIONS that allows me to default to the joystick.
The joystick doesn't work in JTL.
Since I wasn't using it until JTL went live, I unplugged it. I plugged it back to my computer AFTER I had logged into JTL. I'm hoping this is the problem.
Gonna be upset if I have to buy a different joystick.Any thoughts???

I'm having no problems with my saitek x45 joystick or my saitek evo joystick. You may want to check the logitech website for updated drivers. Also you may want to calibrate your joystick using the options in the control panel of your pc.
In game the options for using your joystick is under the controls tab. JTL auto recognized my saitek x45 and it recognizes all the buttons on it...except for the two rotary wheels which i've never really had much use for anyway. My joystick is recognized by all three settings: Automatic, virtual joystick, and mouse look(or something like that). I think I use the virtual joystick setting...can't remember right off hand.
You may want to use the game options tab on the SWG launch pad. Under the game tab it will have a pull down menu showing any joysticks you have on your pc. It may be something as simple as making sure that your logitech is recognized under that pull down menu. If it isn't I'd recommend reinstalling your logitech joystick drivers checkingand updated drivers. If that still doesn't work make a post in the tech support forum detailing what you've done so far.
The dev team has made vast improvements in joystick compatibility and usability since beta. So I doubt logitech sicks were overlooked but ya never know.

I would suggest plugging it in before you open JTL. Games can't register hardware that isn't registered with the system on loading. They're not like the OS that knows when something is plugged or unplugged from the system, they only enumerate devices once on game start up. Try plugging it in before you open the launchpad for SWG. If it's still not working, check in your Gaming Options in your control panel to see if your joystick is actually installed. See if you can calibrate it there, if it works there, it should work in JTL.

I recommend the Wingman Extreme 3D, It works perfectly with the game! It's a good solid Joystick.

Thanks guys, all your suggestions seem sound. I'm about to give it a try. I'll let you know how it goes.
And Hunter.....I was a little surprised "your" reply didn't come up sooner...hehehe. MAN, if that joystick worked for JTL, you could really have fun

I'm using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, and it works great. Do you use the Logitech gaming software and Profiler application?

My joystick works great, but you can't connect it after the Launchpad starts, so just make sure the stick is ready to go before you start the game and you'll be fine.

Try getting Windows Xp.I have the exact same Joystick.Installed it,ran the game and everything was already configured.I tried on windows 2000 NT and it didnt work.Microsoft what can i tell u........

I use an old axis pad, emulated playstation joystick. I had didnt realise the game supported joysticks untill I needed to reconfigure my key settings, seems the game recognised the axis pad and auto assighned key functions, I though, sweet, I'll use that instead, Im so used to playstion, uped my piloting skills instant, just for the familliar controles.

Come on, we like to help. You could have at least tried a couple things before posting here. Posting is suppose to be reserved for when you've searched, tried, and still can't come up with an answer
