Thread: PvP Etiquitte?

having been a near obsessed player of Mechwarrior 4 online, etiquitte was a big deal. What should I know about it for space PvP. Obviously jumping someone sitting at a space station attempting to land or using epulse3 is poor form, but what else?

I would say that there are no rules in space PVP. If a PC's declared, he/she understands that he/she could be killed at any time. Case in point, I declared to get some faction while grinding back up pilot after doing the JSF quest. While I was grinding, had an PC TIE pilot knock me out in two hits. It's just something you have to expect and keep an eye out for. Of course, I wouldn't flame or grief anyone before, during, or after combat either, which one could expect if they were killed/killed someone who was damaged or otherwise unable to fight back.

The best PvP pilot fights end w/ both sides getting a laugh and a thank you or nice fighting comments for the challenge. Those that need to boast or flame are seriously lacking in the maturity department. Yeah, I expect the "watch your back from now on" comments, but that is one thing that makes PvP entertaining.

My personal rules that I abide by:

1.) Don't talk trash.

2.) Don't brag.

3.) Don't make it personal.

4.) Try not to load kill.

5.) Expect no quarter and give no quarter.

6.) Unlesss someone calls you out for a personal fight (IE duel), all is fair, and everything goes.

The only etiquette I "follow" is that if the ship is moving, it's fair game. If it's just floating there I'll assume the person is just loading into the sector, or is AFK for a moment. However, that being said, going AFK while overt is awfully dumb. Also,if ever I have the time to get the person's name before they blow up (confident, aren't I?) I'll send a /tell "gotcha" along with a . In the couple of space PvPs I've had so far it was so quick I didn't have time to get the name even. LOL

Wait? Etiquitte? Blow those toads outta the sky, I don't care who it is. If you think load killing sucks, the thing is, you should have a good connection before even going into space, as there isn't a chance you'll survive if you don't load in under 5 seconds. Thats enough time to respond and get the fro' outta dodge. All's fair in pvp and war. (Unless you're a jedi, in which case Last ditch owns you!)

*edit* Please note the sarcasm, as dry as it is, sorry for the mis-understanding (Not a master pilot and have yet to pvp, so /rude to those that think I'm serious, and /applaud to those that appreciated it, and my siggy!)

Being load killed is NOT the fault of the person who got killed.
Load kiling is one reason why Kessel was changed into a PvE zone.

'nuff said.

Ass-hat

A prime example of what not to be. I'll bet an Elite component he's got the load in point for Kessel and Deep Space active at all times.

My rule for PvP, because I do run in semi-DS regularly, is Tab Often.Situational awareness is life.

I don't know how to respond to this without ripping the hell out of you so I'll be nice and simply say, you're wrong to a certain extent.

1.No you don't need a good internet connection for goin gto space. One of the best pilots I have the pleasure to fly with is on 56k so erm shut up about that please...plus we play on Bria....probably the laggiest server in the game.

2. You don't load kill...it's pathetic and pointless. While you load in you're actually invincible but loadkilling is still loadkilling if a player just waits there waiting for the person loading in to even begin moving....if you get a kick out of loadkilling then fine, but you're an idiot.

3. No 5 seconds isn't long enough. Even in an a-wing, it takes about 1.2 seconds to accelerate to full speed, then while doing this you're targetting your enemy, also then having to find out where they are...then reacting. So no...5 seconds isn't long enough to allow someone to get into 'their game' before you attack them.

And who're you calling a toad? The toad is the loadkiller not the person loading and the only oppinion about yourself you'll get from me is that you can't really fly and have to resort to loadkilling in order to survive.

P.S

Yeh...all is fair in love and war to a certain extent, I hav no problems with E-pulse 3 even though I don't actually have it since I'm rebel and TIE oppressors can throw as many missiles at me as they like for all I care. And YES when you declare overt status in space it is signing your death warrant, a contract saying in big illuminated letters "yes you may attack me"....BUT NOT WHEN LOADING.

Ok..now I have finished.
