Fits how I veiw all PvP and combat...

War is War.

Civil War is worse then War.

War on terrorists... if they are the enemy no matter proffesion they will be killed.

You could argue that the Empire is state sponsor of terrorist. Destroying a world is a terrorist act. You can argue the Rebels are terrorists also. Both are terrorist.

I don't load kill but everything else is fair game. Any enemy overt character is a threat in my eyes. I won't make fun of them, put them down, trash talk, etc.... but I'm not above a sneak attack to make sure they don't do it to me.

I don't load kill. But that's about the only rule I follow.

I mostly agree with your rules but personally I'd like to add:

7.) Try to avoid targetting engines

8.) Don't use epulse

I've been epulsed, disabled and ganked in DS, and all it did to me was make me come back and fight again. It's part of the game. You are flying a war machine, and in war you use everything at your disposal. I see nothing wrong with using the tools of the trade. If a ship is more agile than the one I'm flying at the time, I have no problem going for the ractor or engine. If I'm in the more agile ship, I won't target engines...and I won't complain if someone targets mine. And most important, when it is over...a /tell of Good Job is sent, whether I win or lose.

Generic pvp etiquette, I agree with Dumicus I guess. I mean yeh..in a group event it is sometimes cool to have a bit of organisation etc..make sure both side is loaded, present and correct etc but those situations are different to situations where you randomly fly into DS or are flying overt and soemone attacks you. In those situations it is simply just your responcibility to survive and as the good Doctor always says....apply generous spammage to thatZ button, your lover, best friend and general ally.

To be quite honest the times I have pvp'd (15 or so fights) its been over to quickly for me to know if my engines/reactor have been targeted nor have I ever bothered to target my opponents components. (Bring in a combat log in space please, please, please)

As for etiquete I agree witht he majority in that load killing should be outlawed in general but apart from that its fair game.

Ok... so if I am flying around kessell and I see an overt rebel fighting the npc Tie's, should I wait for him to finish the fight or attack while he is distracted.

Engage. This isn't WW1. There is no honor between faction pilots. If they are overt, they are aware they can be attacked, and if they are not keeping watch it is their fault, not yours. I agree load killing is bad, but stuff like not using missiles, not disabling or giving warning shots. That's just crazy talk...and it will get you killed.
