If you don't agree with anything in this post, that's fine, but if you want to argue, please do it with common sense and a respectful attitude, I'd like this post to go somewhere.
Quite simply, I, and many Rebel aces(For example, I do know Imps who agree with me, but the Rebs are more so.) are a tad annoyed that the YT-1300 is a privateer only ship, while the Firespray is open to all factions(Even Imps, which in SW terms, is insanely stupid.)
The ammount of Rebel smuggler NPCswe meet in YT's speaks for itself, I mean Solo was a merc(Pirvateer if you want.) first, but still had the YT as a Rebel, he wasn't forced to drop it lol.
I know this probally won't go anywhere, but I honestly feel the YT needs to be made availible to all factions, like the Firespray. Of course neutrals would want their own multi-ship, and that's totally fair, so perhaps give them a new ship, or one of the NPC ships we see?
I'm perhaps coming off as silly here, but I seriously hate the Rebel Multi Ship(Nova) it just doesn't suit me, and many of my Rebel friends, at all. We are Rebels, terrorists, rag-tags, etc etc, the YT is THAT kinda ship.
Sign if you agree, who knows, might get noticed hehe. /shrug

Well, I guess they got it right, as even YOU can have a rebel character that's a freelance pilot, just like Han Solo.

Lets rewind to the beginning.
Orginally the Firespray was the Privateer master ship.
Then people complained and the firespray was changed to what it is now. A rare, overrated, overpriced cult fetish object.
For the longest time the only master ship for privateers was the YT.
NOW, you want to take that from them too?! What do you plan on replacing it with? hmmmm?
On top of that, Mr Han Solo wannabe, Captain solo was a smuggler working for Jabba before he got wrapped up in the rebel alliance. If you'll note in the movies, his was the only damn YT you ever saw.Orginaly he didnt want to get involved in the rebels or the imperials. He was rebel by happenstance, and was a privateer orginally.
You want to pretend your solo, go privateer.

This is an old argument. JtL In Concept old, but if you really care to dig it up again, ok.
As appropos as you may think it is to have one as a Rebel, there was one, count again, one YT involved with the Rebel fleet, and that was the Falcon. Han Solo was a special case, and even if you don't like the look of what you get, a Rebel specific MP ship is more than adequate for the run of the mill Rebel Ace. As cool as you think it is, it makes far more sense for the Freelancers, the true ragtag mercenaries of the galaxy.
This is swg not battlestar galactica, Rebels were hounded, covert, guerilla warriors, but they were generally well funded guerilla warriors, and they had an organized system of ships so they didn't need to scrounge the scrapyards and used shipyards quite yet. Far from ragtag, and I don't see any reason the Rebel High command would fork over to convert a bunch of old Light Freighters instead of using closeout deal Nova couriers, since gettinga bunch of Novae at bulk price, while efficient, was by no means shoddy or cheap.
Basically your argument boils down to this: you think it would be cool. Sorry but if it's that cool, then become a Freelance Pilot and ground Rebel, and be just like Han Solo that way. If the option to get one as a ground rebel were altogether closed to you, I might agree with your desire, but as it is, you have a valid option.

You haven't proposed a viable alternative for freelance after you take away or dilute their skill tree.
Just because you don't like it doesnt make the Nova a bad ship.

If they gave privateers all of your ships I.E. A-wing, X-wing, so on and so forth to useincluding what we have, I could maybe let you guys have a YT..... maybe....

Hear, hear.
The simple fact of the game is this: Not everyone gets everything. The sooner everyone accepts this (it is rampant through out the player base), the happier everyone will be.
You made a choice. That choice means that you don't get to fly a YT-1300. Imperials don't fly x-wings, Rebels don't get to fly the Oppressor, and neither get to fly the YT-1300. If you're unhappy with your choice, then change to Freelance. Otherwise, you should simply deal with it.

Not only do I not agree with you entirely, I think they should take the KSE Firespray away from the Empire and Rebels.
The Empire is a modern navy and a old piece of junk like that would have been scrapped a long time ago... if it had even flown in it. That I agree with.
However the Rebelion is not the little rag-tag little army like many people think it is. In the future, they eventually defeat the Empire, and that indicates a well equiped and organized force. When you look at the Minellium Falcon (Empire Strikes Back), it was a maintenace nightmare. You can't win a war with unreliable equipment and a large ammount of dissimilar aircraft in the fleet would present a logistical nightmare for a guerilla army. Also, it's NOT a combat ship. It's a transport, albiet heavily modified by Han Solo.
If you don't like your Nova Courier, then I suggest you quit the rebelion, go neutral and fly your YT. You can't have eveything.

It's not a silly question. Unfortunately the answer is that we are faced with choices. Personally, I think the firespray should be a neutral only ship. Yes the Neutrals get YT's, Firesprays and Krayts, but lets face it...they get excluded from half of the game content...they should get some reward.
I chose Imperial. I get quick agile ships...that also have no mass to speak of and are the hardest damn ships to level with. I don't get a YT. Its a choice.
I'm curious about what is the great different between the Decimator, the YT, the Krayt Gunshipand the Rebel Multi [don't know the name].

All three ships vary in design, and they each hve their own atmopshere to them as well as layout. Personally my least favorite was the YT, and my most favorite MP ship is the deci. You'd just have to be in each one to understand why, but i think most will agree, the deci is the best MP ship. The YT is all enclosed, no windows save the cockpit and just lacked character to me.
The krayt gunship is a different ship. It is a master level ship, 210K mass, 3 forward gun mounts, 1 gunner turret, 1 missle mount, and handles like a Firespray or Tie Oppressor. Most will also probably agree that the krayt is the best PvE ship in the game.

Kryats can go up beyond 211k mass btw.
And...I TOTALLY disagree with the original poster. Fly freelance if you want to fly the YT.

It's already in the game. A person of ANY faction CAN fly the YT, they just have to know how to fly Freelance ships.
Rebels, Neutrals, and even Imperials can be Freelance pilots.

I see your point but from a different point of view. The rebels did use the Falcon as the "command fighter" in RotJ. I think the agrument could be made based on that, more than from Solo flying it. However. I do see everyone else's point, and honestly, if you want to fly the YT, and be rebel, go the smuggler route. You can still be a ground rebel. I don't believe Solo was ever a rebel pilot, I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. Luke was a rebel pilot, he only flew rebel craft. If you look at what your character is, a rebel pilot, and think about the types of craft that the rebellian has, the YT is not one of them. Thus, rebels get the nova.
