Thread: The dreaded M word for space.
I prefer keeping that on a button control
Since the Interfacing with space stations is handled through the code for NPC conversations, and the command lines for any of those have been taken out, there is no way to go through the process of repair/landing by a macro.
There are slots in the keymap for different conversation responses #'s and you can map them to keys, but whether you'd find that quicker, I don't know.
[the /commands for starting conversations and selecting different responses were ingame at one point, and are often listed on out of date websites (maybe even listed when you try to use ingame help) but they do not work. My guess is that a decision was made that being able to macro those would lead to many many problems/exploits]
i got a macro for running RO EO WO and CapO
but thats just to clean up some of the clutter on my toolbar![]()
even set it up to send me a /tell when its done
Personally, i am computer illiterate..i don't understand macros at all...and i mean it AT ALL. i use hotkeys for everything.
Maybe if someone would explain all this macro S*** in plain english Vs computer speak...then i may stand a possiable chance

Every time I do a larger factionperk deal I very, very much hate that those commands got removed (a few days ago I had a customer buying perks for about 400k imperial faction points, I can buy 1400ish - a bit less actually - points with a series of one double and two single clicks ... I want the macrofunctions for conversations back, yesterday
a macro in swg terms, is simply a list of commands that you tell the game to run in a series. The benefit is you can link many many commands into one string, and not press keys for each one. The list of possible commands, and the list of commands you can put in a macro, are 2 different things though. As time passes, the devs are making macroing harder and harder to do, because it has been abused so much. I totally support the de macrofication of the game, so this doesn't bother me, as long as the interface is smooth enough to let me do what I wish without undue strain.
But anyway, if you want to learn about macros, the best way to start, is to think of something you do ingame, and try to figure out a way to streamline it. Basically that's what this original post is about, the person wanted to know if the /commands were out there that would let them repair/land a ship. In this case the answer is no.
It's really too bad too, because this is one of the clunkiest interface gateways in the game. Getting from the ground to space is pretty fast and painless. Setting up your ship the same. However, communication with the game once in space, is clunky and inefficient. I'm using the talky buttons to communicate with NPCs, I'm using the chat interface to talkto other players, I'm using my datapad, or the hyperwindow to navigate, and I'm pressing buttons to run my ship. The first couple of minutes in space or in a new sector are pretty tedious.
It would be nice if there were a lot of changes to the system to get it flowing more smoothly, but since I never see that happening, Ilive with it as is. Do I have plenty of ideas? Sure, but I've posted plenty of them in the past, and since I am realistic enough to know it won't matter, Im saving my energy. ![]()
That's the default keybind for that anyway.
