I use an awing with an REd lv7 weapon with weapon overload 3, and I use a 74/75/74/89 engine with engine overload 3 on my awing, but keep in mind that maneuverability doesn't really amount to much in this case other than possibly getting to the blind spots quicker. I just use the awing cause it's deep space and well, I exist to kill imperial players, so a firespray wouldn't work too well on that score if an imp showed up to stop me.
The SD does *not* drop loot, only about 13-17k credits, 10k xp, and 550 Faction points if you are overt.
The SD does not have an official escort. *However*, there are two gunboat spawns that are just below the SD. The gunboats themselves aren't the problem, it's the large amount of tie escorts they bring with them. Therefore, expect 3 different kinds of resistance: The SD alone, the SD with about 12 Tie interceptors/fighters, or the SD with 8ishtie oppressors, aggressors, and bombers. The fighters can be a serious problem if you panic, however, I've figured out how to deal with them so that you kill the SD and never have to waste time with them: ignore them. If you move from blind spot to blind spot, you'll find that their flight patterns become messed up since you're flush against the SD, decreasing the amount of shots they make at you. However, the fighters *will* hit you if you do not deal with them. I have 1880 front/backhitpoint shields, and I simply keep doing capacitor shunt as they hit me, for they're never able to kill me before the SD dies. You may want to invest in the emergency rear shield command if they hit you a little too much for cap shunt to work.
After the SD dies, you can either kill the fighters or just run far enough away (1.2kish distance) for them to lose interest in you. I've noticed that when the tie interceptor/fighter group tangles with me after the SD dies, that they start to blip out of existence one by one. This may imply that they really are escorts for the SD, but they're not always there when you attack, so whatever you want to call them is fine with me.
The SD takes about a minute to respawn, so if you get the hang of this, you can get 550 FP once every 4 minutes, which I've found to be quite nice considering how we have the new GCW implementation now.

Excellent. I may switch out my xwing back to the awing then for the extra boost of speed...have to paly with it I guess.
Ill send you a message if I see you on Nokilo. Would love to help you out on this...try to get that time of killing the SD down in half.

I guess I'm missing something here, but how do you make it from blind spot to blind spot without getting hit? Are they closer to each other than I think they are, and youjust stay in their 'shadow' the whole time?

I'm assuming a privateer declared as rebel (for deep space) will get FP's too. Am I right?
(I'm neutral on the ground, but thinking about saving up my FP's for a rainy day!)

you dont, you will take some fire but as long as you keep moving you should be fine. a-wing really shines here since you rarely take hits; not because of speed, but because of its small size.

haha that is what you think. i have been able to do this and barely lose my shields
very easy actually. you start out in the shield part you turn your ship down ward and go toward the engine spot. take it out then do an IFFS. go to where the reactor blind spot is. take that out. then turn and zoom underneith the overhand where the bridge is.
doing this you almost never get hit. But i think this should be changed just a bit it is kinda to easy to take out the SD. I found out how to do this by myself one day when i was in DS and was saddened because it was a little to easy to do :/.

Yes, you will probably get hit a little moving from blind spot to blind spot, and since you're so close to the turrets, jinking/rolling/etc doesn't really help here; however, the smaller the ship profile, the less shots you will generally take. I take about 1-2 hits going from blind spot to blind spot in my Awing. I get hit morethan thatif I miss the reactor blind spot and have to make another pass to get in there. Either way, the fighters have always been more of a nuisance than the SD's guns.
I have freelance friends who have wanted to cash in on the FP bounty of killing the SD, but unfortunately, they have not found a way to get into deep space while declared overt rebel. Apparently the neutral deep space station will not let you in if you're an overt of either faction, and therebel deep space station won't let you in because you don't have any master rebel prestige points to spend, only master freelance prestige. If anyone has found a way around this, please let us all know, for it's very frustrating that all of my freelance friends are stuck on the ground cursing their luck.

Some people have been asking for help with the Star Destroyer, so I have refined my approach and have augmented it with pictures. Just like with my Corvette walkthrough, this walkthrough will ensure that the Star Destroyer will not kill you if you follow it correctly.
The Star Destroyer (called SD from now on)is a good source of faction points, and if you know how to take it down, it can be the quickest source of FP in the game. Not only that, it's yet another thing that all rebel master pilots should try to do at least once simply to have done everything in space. There are many ways to kill the Star Destroyer, many of which have been addressed in this forum before, but this thread will show you the blind spots (places where no guns can hit you) that allow you to quickly and safely take the SD down.
The SD dies once the bridge is dead, not when you inflict enough damage to make the chassis 0%. You must kill the shield generators, engines, reactor, and the bridge in that order. Therefore, I have made a website giving 2 pictures for each system's blind spot. Analyze these pictures carefully and then fly around the SD *without shooting it* so that it won't shoot you as you explore these blind spots and understand how to reach them.
Here are the pictures:

The reactor is the hardest of all blind spots, for it's a tight squeeze to get underneath the lip. Approach this blind spot slowly so that you won't hit the hull and bounce away from it. Also make sure that you are as close to the bottom as possible. Many people have arrived in the vicinity of the reactor blind spot (usually higher or too far forwardthan they should be)and expected it to be good enough and would get pummeled since they were stationary in the line of fire.
I haveused these blind spots to kill the SDover 300 times now, and I can consistently kill the SD in less than 3 minutes using what I have given you. (Record is currently 2 minutes and 10 seconds to kill it) Therefore, if you aren't getting it, don't dismiss this as untrue, tell me you're having difficulty, and I will help you get it.
Special thanks to Berton on the Chilastra server for helping me with these blind spots.

UPDATE: Every single personwho has come to me with problemshas been flying the Xwing, and some believed that since the screenshots show my Awing, that it was not possible to make the same performance in the Xwing. I brought out my 5 month-old Xwing to see for myself, and all of these blind spots still work perfectly for a ship like the Xwing with asomewhat bigger profile. (I actually broke my old record witha kill in 1 minute and 48 seconds in the Xwing) It is possible to solo the SD in a Firespray, but I do not recommend it, for it has the largest single person ship profile and gets pummeled. (The same goes for the Bwing, though I have not tested it personally. I have only taught masters in their Bwing who are new to deep space this tactic only to see them get vaporized before they even get to the reactor.) I took my best gunners to the SD in a Nova Courier, and the reactor blind spot does not work for a ship with such a large profile. The only tactic that workedon the reactor was super-fast fly-bys, which works well enough if you have an operations person with you. Therefore, use the Awing or the Xwing for this tactic.
A lot of frustrated people have given up on this, saying "I'm just not able to do it," and it is possibile for anyone to achieve, provided they practice and put the time into it. I practiced flying from the engine to the reactor blind spot at least 30 timesbefore I ever shot the SD so that I knew that I would slot into the blind spot perfectly when under fire. One last thing, I have noticed the knowledgethat a large number of fighters and guns are aiming at you psychologically impacts almost everyone so their ability to stick to a plan is frazzled. I have seen so many people panic and do impromptu things that they would never do if they were thinking clearly. It's the exact same thing that happens toa soldier that loses his composure on the battlefield, so I suggest that you don't expect to solo the SD immediately. Practice moving around it. *Let* the fighters beat you up as you get close to the hull so that you're used to the sound of 50 guns shooting at you simultaneously. There are times I screw up and die even after I've been killing the SD for 3 hours straight. It happens, but don't let the idea of dying bother you so much that you can't think clearly.

Another UPDATE:
The previous site hosting the pictures is going down, so I've given new links to the pictures. Also, I have now soloed the Star Destroyer in a Dunelizard, Rihk, and Krayt using the information in this post, so you freelancers have no excuses either.

Very cool Nokilo!
I am interested in trying this...as well as having you join me on it if your interested.
For those that dont believe the guy....beleive him
he helped me get the vette this week and he knows what he is talking about.
Nokilo...you scare me...but I am glad you are on my side of the GCW!
Also...what type of specs do you have on your ship to do this? I am guessing you pretty much use the awing due to the manuverabilty of the ship.

does the SD drop any loot parts? I've seen that gunboats and decimators in DS do drop loots, that seem (perhaps just my perception) to usually be of relatively high level. Does the SD drop anything?
