I have had a brief look at this mission and Can see that it has about 5 fighters as escort (some tier 5) but took all these out no problems.
I also attacked the corvette, anyone have any tips on what gun placement to knock out. Asking cos I heard that if you knock out too many then the gunboats that show up destroy it pretty quickly.

If anyone has done this mission can they tell me how they did it
(btw tried it once solo to see what was what, so aint gone up with a team yet)

Ello thar;

I was wingman on this mission to 'Icee' on the Farstar Server, and we found that the mission isn't that bad if you knock out only gun #5. With this one out, you can safely attack from the rear, and leave the other guns standing. After that its a simple case of killing the fighters, then going into 'mad spin mode' as you evade the gunboats.

Its great fun though. Pity the Advanced X-wing, like nearly every other bleeding space-related addition in ROTW, is bugged.

No problem.

May the force be with you!

Another tip is to make sure you don't attack the Corvette (you have to disable it at first) until you've got the fighters down.

actualy dude for this mission its best not to knock out any guns.

equip a high level torpedo launcher

take out the fighters

sneak up directly behind the vetts engins, stay at least1k out when lineing up otherwise youll get shot, from here even without knocking out gun 5 you can disable the vett with torps without takeing fire

take out sheild 1 and 2 with torps

use guns on the engins

wait for capture

its best to leave the guns intact, they do help with the waves of fighers later

Do the gunboats appear at a certain time or spawn point?

Can you delay them from appearing by just disabling the other attacking ships thus giving the corvette closer to the space station before the gunboats spawn?

Heres what i did, i disabled it multiple times like this, just was having trouble with the escort part. Fly in straight at gun number 5, and take it out as soon as possible. If your privateer make sure you use your cap to shield shunt right after taking it out, if your rebel make sure you put your shield fully in the front before you do this. After that fly a little below the corvette and start taking out the fighters, make sure you don't go above the corvette or the 6 other guns will hit you, and your toast. After you take the fighters out, take out the shields. You need to angle yourself perfectly so the top guns won't hit you, this is the trickiest part. After you take out the shields, head to the back and take out the engine. Start following it, and take out the fighters when they come in. When the gunboats come in, let them start attacking the corvette, and then take out the fighters that came with them. DO NOT ATTACK THE GUNBOATS. stay away from them, and don't hit them, they shouldn't be able to take out the corvette. Just take out the fighters and don't go near the gunboats, and you should be safe. Just follow about 1k out from the corvette, and just wait for it to hyper out. The end, you now have your Xwing. Also, if your privateer, you just wasted all your time because you too get the Heavy Xwing, and you can't use it. So you either get to sell it or keep it as a souvineer.

Should I use proton Torpedoes or use concussion torepedoes on the Corvette?

You should use spacebombs, or mark 4 protons.

The freelancer version you take from the wookie space station. You still take out the corvette but thats the station you get the freelance version off. You basicly get asked the same question you do if you did it at the rebel station something like "I would like a challange" if I rember right and thats the option you select at the wookie station to get the blacksun corvette run.

So the correct trick to the corvete is just to leave the gunboats alone and just let them beat on the corvette or are they needed to be taken out?

Sort of. leave them pretty much alone, but distract them as much as you can, without getting yourself killed that is.

Watched the girlfriend solo this twice last night, once for the Vaksai and once for the heavy X-Wing. The key to making it a lot easier is to take out gun 5 and ride right behind that gun position 'til you get to within 4k of the jump off point, then drop the shields and engine. Let the crew retake it and then let it make the rest of the 4k run. The enemy fighters and gunships come in waves and by the first gunship wave, the vette's just about ready to jump. By the time you've cleaned up the fighters in the gunship wave, you're ath the station and it's mission completed, collect your deed.

What's really wrong with the game is the players

Oh, and can we get a moratorium on the word "whiner"? It's pointless and stupid to call other people whiners when you yourself are actually whining about them.

Since I am not a Master pilot I guess I will have to use Mark 3 torpedoes. My wingman is also not a master pilot so do you think if we both use mark 3 protons at the same timewe should do ok vs the vett?
