Are you really serious ?
What about the power of the guy shooting at you ? I've looted imperial (Sienar Systems IS imperial) guns with more than 3K damage (I can't use them yet), so if that's what the guy had been using it's normal that your "only" 1000+ shield and your armor have been taken out in a couple shots. If that was an AI X-Wing, please remember that they're given "unfair" advantages to compensate for their lack of intelligence : stronger shields, guns and armors, faster engines, etc, etc
Once again, your post lacks precision. What ship were you flying ? A-Wings are amongst the fastest ships ever made and, if I remember correctly from my X-Wing, TIE Fighter, X-Wing vs Tie and X-Wing Alliance days, they can only be bested in pure speed by a handful of TIEs, like the Defender in TIE Fighter for example. An A-Wing will outrun an Interceptor with equivalent equipment any time. And once again, AI ships are given "unfair" advantages under the form of a better equipment in order to compensate for their lack of intelligence.
Okay first : don't think everyone in Kessel want to PvP. There are far more people that never PvP than people that do, and they still want to become a Master Pilot (I don't think I need to give you the reasons). The problems with Kessel all revolve around it's unique hyperspace jumppoint and people camping it for the infamous "load-killing". The missions to get to Master are hard enough by themselves as they are now, you don't need to add PvP griefing on top of that for the average player to have a hard time getting his Master title. And I've seen quite a lot of Imperials quitting as soon as they were disabled too, so please watch your tone. Hyperspace is already limited by the time it takes to calculate the jump coordinates (which is really fine) and by the fact that you completely stop 5 seconds before the actual jump, which is enough time to kill the player. If you really want to fight people that want to PvP and that are motivated, jump into Deep Sea (or whatever the sector with ISDs is called, I don't have access to it yet).
If, by the time of your post, you were trying to take on Tier 5 AIs while only being 3322, it is absolutely normal that you had a (very) hard time fighting them. As I stated above, AI ships are given "unfair" advantages to compensate their lack of intelligence and make them a challenge for solo pilots of their level, an "85+" engine isn't that hard to find (I got one and I'm only 3322 too) and still is far worse than what they got and what you might consider "far superior" firepower still is weak compared to theirs and to their shields. "Rebels" don't have too many advantages in space, AIs do (and I'm not convinced that they have too many of them, just that they have them). But I agree that the A-Wing could use a little more mass in exchange for a little reduction in maneuverability and speed.
Btw, it's very well known that the Alliance has the best pilots and the best ships (though they require more maintenance)

Here is the imperial point of view. If you give them what they want, we want:
Rebel Issues:
- Rebel Guns: I have witnessed players killed by player rebels with 2 (two) blasts of a laser cannon from an x-wing against a Tie Interceptor with fully charged 1000+ sheilds, one blast against a 680 sheild. Rebel player guns are far too powerful. If the rebels whine about us being to fast and you slow us down, keep it fair, reduce the power of rebel cannon. I can live with 5 shots. They won't get that many. We prefer to sharpen our dogfighting skills instead of compiling lists of whiny complaints about a nearly perfectly matched game. In fact the game is nearly perfect as it is. The imperial ships are under powered, under gunned, and turn slow. I enjoy the challenge. You don't hear me complaining about it.

A-Wings : Add more mass and slow them down a little. Our supposedly faster ships have no hope against a Tier 5 A-wing, or player built A-Wings. Despite rebel "opinion" our ships are faster than theirs, they are, in fact slower and far less manueverable. A tier 5 A wing is fully turned after a pass, before I can turn 90 degrees. And I have an uber engine.

Cowardly Behaviour: In PvP, /quit needs to be disabled the millisecond a PvP engagement begins. We should not be deprived of a kill because someone /quit 's the second they are disabled. If you are a coward and don't want to die in PvP, STAY OUT OF KESSEL. I am so sick and tired of Rebels wussing out and quitting the second they know they are going to die. Don't let them do it. I'll happily die if I take on someone and they beat me. It's part of the game. Show some courage and honor, if you want to play sometimes you gotta pay. Don't let them get away with this. At least limit their out to hyperspace like the movies. Cowards disgust me. If you are overmatched you should not be allowed to simply disappear.

Imperial Issues:
- Not Kidding. Mass: A slight increase in mass for the Rebel ships with very low total mass allowances is requested. Tier 5 A-Wings are impossible to kill unless you have an 85+ engine on your ship and have far superiour firepower. I have both and still can't kill them.
Please either make the changes as stated above to match their changes, or none at all. As it is, the rebels have far too many advantages in space combat.
Thx,
Viza

Just a very small note, but it appears that Nebula Blast (Imperial Training)is not working. Most have observed that it doesn't doanything at all, save but toaggro everything around you.

Lack of Lower Level Priveteer Multiplayer ships; Rebels have the Y-wing...Imperials have the Tie Bomber...what do Priveteers have? NOTHING. I have a friend that is not a ACE at Space Combat Simulations, and frankly there are times I could use a gunner myself. Please look into providing a 2 person starship for Priveteers.

I have been playing this game for almost four months now, and by far my favorite experience in Galaxies or JTL has been jumping in the back of my friend's Y-Wing and blasting away with the turret. I think anyone who's tried this knows that it's hard! You have no real idea how your friend is going to move the ship, and it's often all but impossible to target any ship except the one that the pilot is going after. Even then, I find it much harder to target ships with the turret even when the pilot does a good job of following the target. Noting this, I think that the Master level multipassenger ships should ALL have one and only one weapon allowed to the pilot. The turrets do add a lot of firepower, and they are a LOT of fun, but I fear that they make the ships much less useful because it's so hard to hit anything from a turret. Besides, these are master level ships. They are supposed to be powerful. At least giving the pilot a target to shoot at would help the other turrets be more effective. The pilot could stay on a target better which would help the turret gunners aim. Maybe even put a severe limit on the pilot's weapon mass and energy consumption if you are dead set against this. I don't care, but since we have to wait until master to get these ships, they should be good for more than just hanging out in space.

i would like to chime in on the forced pvpissue....i really did not mind it, even though it kept me from getting master last night....what i did care about was the camping at the jump in point and the severe decay on my ship and components. fix these 2 things and i wont care about pvp at all. but as it stands ships cost in the millions in some cases and it just becomes not worth it. and no one like dying while your load screen is up.

Smoke,
I feel the issue of JTL enabled players shuttling out group members who are locked in combat needs to be looked at as well. Currently, you cannot use a ship terminal while locked in combat (rightly so) so it makes no sense that a covert/gtef'ing member can just shuttle you out of combat.
While some people may think this is 'Star Warsy' it completely works against the PvP aspect of this game. There are many negative benefits that can be employed by using this and the issue needs to be considered. PvP is hard enough to find and this new 'ability' only discourages it.

It gets very difficult to target priority enemies in group combat against multiple opponents.
/Assist would be of enormous benefit to group combat!

I was at 3322 in Privateer - RSF as a Covert Rebel. When I learned here that I could not damage Imperial craft as an RSF, I was angry to say the least. I dumped my entire pilot line and started over as a Smuggler. This SHOULD have been explained at the beginning, that the three factions of privateer have limitations. As a smuggler I cannot kill Hutt's now. Big deal. But not being able to kill Imperials is a big deal to my rebel character.
These limitations should be replaced by faction. If as an RSF you kill too many Imperials you get warned by your trainer. If you kill more he wont talk to you until your pilot faction is fixed. Characters should have more freedom in an RPG.

Firespray has a small issue with a "floating" reticle.
very annoying... not sure what causes it... but the reticle will shift up or down depending on where the target is in your radar arc.

I was having fun with JTL. I enjoyed the level of challenge through most of tier 3. Then, suddenly, it stopped being fun. Why? There was no reason for me to go any further up the tree. Why do we go up skill trees in this game? We do it to gain more abilities and better skills. We do it so we may attempt even greater missions with greater rewards. With pilots, what happens when we get to the higher levels? We get new abilities, better skills and missions which we cannot possibly finish with these abilities. So why get them?
I understand that groups are being encouraged here, but there is a difference between encouraged and enforced.
First off, this is a profession advancement, not a pure content mission. This to me seems like it should be personal. It should be a challenge, and you can bring friends along to help, that's fine, but how am I supposed to feel like I accomplished anything when all I do is get four random helpful people do the mission for me while I sit like a coward away from the battle so I don't die and fail the mission? What did I accomplish? Where is the personal satisfaction that comes with completing a hard mission on my own?
I understand that this is an online game, not a game I can just sit at home and play by myself, but it's not like I don't want to talk or play with anyone else. If you are the kind of person that does nothing without your guildmates helping you, I know you won't understand this, so I doubt anything you'll say will help. I enjoy playing the game with my small group of friends, but I, and I think many others, derive enjoyment from completing tasks that are hard, but not impossible for individuals. I enjoy playing with groups, that's not my argument. I hate feeling powerless and useless as an individual when I worked so long and hard to get where I am. Where is the freedom to do more of what I want with my newfound power? Where is the fun in shouting for help for 45 minutes in the starport? I have a few hours to try to relax and have fun in the evening. I don't want to waste that.
Lots of people out there want the master box and that's all they care about. What happened to the journey to get it? I feel like every last box now is an insult to the effort it took to get it. I get it not because I earned it, nor will it benefit me to get it now because there is nothing I can do to improve on it without relying on others. The higher you go, it gets even more insulting, showing that no matter how much better you get, you'll never again be able to do anything fun on your own. You'll have to rely on others. The Master box is a waste.
I really like the idea of doing a mission like the master mission, but that should not be required for something basic like a profession box. It should be an additional badge, or have some kind of prize/reward attached to it.
I know a lot of you don't give a damn about this, but I feel passionately about earning every improvement, skill and ability. I am not shouting for this to be made a cakewalk. I DO want it to be very hard. I just want it possible. This is just killing the game for me, and I know I'm going to drown in a sea of flames from all of you, but I still need to say it.
