Don't use guns to figure out where the hitbox of the RGTI is. Use missiles.
I do agree that the exploits are a MUCH bigger priority.
Hell, you may as well just post how to do it on the forums. Maybe you're right and the only way that SoE will fix it is if EVERYBODY does it.Message Edited by Coran_Sienar on 07-12-2005 08:46 AM
As following that advice may result in banninations, I would have to weigh strongly against it, no matter how serious its original intent.
I have actually seen some movement on such issues in just the last few hours, though there's no telling when that movement will pay off in fixes.
I already gave up on it. Sony fixes day 1 bugs and exploits the day pigs fly and monkies crawl out of my butt. im *THIS* close to just, going back to the ground game or just turn fulltime crafter. If it wasnt for having joined a decent guild lately, i think id just quit the game altogther. You know i used to play DAOC. THen found out just how bad radar exploits were in that game. I wont EVER play it again.
I should follow the same standard with this game.

Have your ship and the target ship sit stationary, and use the tone/no tone to trace out the edges of the hitbox.

what do you mean "use missles to determine hitbox size"?
by going on achieving a missle lock alone on a IGI i'd say the hitbox is no bigger than the JSF, annecdotal of course but recent duels had both of us achieving a missle lock on each other at about the same rate. (me in an IGI and him in a JSF).
is there another way i'm not getting?

Yup. (Sorry that I didn't elaborate further, earlier.) Although you can also launch your missiles to see the impact point.
What's rather interesting is not how large the hit box is, but WHERE it is.
missle lock tone? i must be seriously dense because i can't see how toaccomplish this. the tone sounds while you have the green targetting recticle in yourtargetting hud. how do you use the ton to trace the hitbox?
i can definately try the missle post launch thing though.

For me (during a dogfight), I saw multiple missile and guns impacts forward and above the ship. All other hits would generate the "no damage shield effect" that we've come to love from the Invincibility Bug.
Hitbox on the RG TIE is the upper hemisphere of the ball. It should encompass the whole ball i would think. ONly a direct hit in the upper half of the ball will regester.
providing i can fix my joystick i'm going to do a real stationary duel test of the hitbox tonight with 2 accounts and lvl 1 guns.
i don't mean to be dubious, but in my experience the hitbox looks right for guns, it's small, it's misleading, but it's not misplaced. maybe i'm wrong i'll see when i get home.
1) Y-8 quest bug
2) droid or FC being removed when changing parts out
3) being blown up while in a docking state causes inability to fly afterwards (causes a continuous "warp")
4) no admin on POB
5) option to turn off blue/red reticles on other ships (possibly?)
6) heavy x-wing and imperial guard tie badge issue (still not working after patch said it was "fixed")
7) (may be another issue somewhere but...) badges not being issued properly. A guildmate of mine has been master pilot for over a month and still doesn't have a bio badge saying so. i have a similair issue with the "100 badge" mark...maybe related?
the only thing i can think about right now is that Smuggler's Alliance pilot's that haven't done jabba's themepark (like let's say... my crafter) can't reach their trainer. now, if this was true for ALL pilot professions... then fine, i wouldn't care. but the fact that imperial inquisitor pilots gain full access to the imperial themepark to talk to their trainer and we get stuck outside banging on the door... that's just ridiculous.
i suspect... and this is just a theory here... that it is because the word Smuggler is found in our squad name. i mean, we all know they seem to hate smugglers, so i'm wondering if this isn't supposed to be another attempt mess them up. wouldn't put it past them.
anyways... i think it needs to be addressed, and fixed if possible.

The mission for throneroom Access in ingame. There is a bug involved with it, but if you read my post in this thread, and the Access guide in the Pilot FAQ all the details are there, including the workaround. No "Smuggler" conspiracy, just a failure to gather the facts on your part
