Thread: New Expansion. No new Space.
Im gonna quote Bill Paxton.
Game over man! Game over!
I was gonna transfer to SS next month. Not now.
I have a feeling that this being a download only expansion it will be very simular to the "pay publish" in EQ2... so the next box update is still a ways off...
Worth a look anyway... and it doesn't look near as bad as the origonal rumor post that seemed badly translated or miss interpreted.
How about we quote vader then:
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (keeps going for far too long) OOOOOOOOOOO"
Well..... jeez, I guess continuity just doesn't mean a thing to these guys.
HAVE NON OF YOU DEVS EVER READ A STAR WARS BOOK?
/gives devs candy (required to recieve a response from a dev)
/waits for answer
oh heck, forget it.
/takes candy back!!!!!
/eats candy.

Wasnt the next expansion supposed to have capitol ships in it? I'm confused now
Bottom line is sony's doing what will generate more revenues. THey're doing the same thing they did with EQ, pump out expansion packs for ppl to buy and maybe pick upa few new subscriptions while their at it.
Episode III, sells. Seems to me they sold a good number of ROTW, and encouraged by that their now going to do more of the same (rotw).
Their going to continue pushing down this route because its more profitable to pump out new "content" for ppl to buy, and get existing content stable enough to where you can leave it alone.
With making new stuff like this they dont have the time, nor inclination to go back and fix stuff they already sold. Theres no money in it and is not a cost effective use of manpower.
We can make bug lists and suggestions all day ever day, for the next two years, but i think the bottom line is sony's happy with it.
As the saying goes, "Good enough for government work". I think ill be around long enough to hear about this expansion pack more, but if it turns out to be what it sounds like, im outta here.

I know exactly what would be waiting on Coruscant for me. An exploded computer. Kashyyyk lags me out already. Theed makes her cry. Coruscant would be murder in CD form.
eh... I would use that as the impetus to upgrade the heck outta my PC. Right now, I could go to a local place called "Microcenter Computers" and pick-up one of their in-house brand PCs featuring a DVD-Burner, 512MB of RAM, 200GB HD, AMD-64 3200+ CPU and an apparently "Adequette" ATI Graphics card for $399.
That's not a bank breaking purchase, but it should run Star Wars Galaxies far better then my current 3 years behind the bleeding edge rig that I have right now.

Ummm... Sir Alec died in Ep IV... did someone forget that?
He didn't die, his saber broke from decay and he just sploited /botr before it was fixed and shuttled back to tatooine. He did die shortly before Hoth when a BH caught him trying to solo a krayt with a training saber to get pearls to make a new saber though.
Oh, and this expansion looks like such a thrown together money grab...looks like they're just going to sell it by making all the jedi (so about 90% of players) frolic in the lava to get into FRS. Oh, and by ripping even more stuff from trendy star wars sources (see droid from KotOR) instead of being original.

obi wan isnt dead, hes just fused with the force somehow. its really confuseing but, thats what happend. because at the end of the star wars saga (Star Wars: Revenge of the Jedi) at the end of the movie it shows obi wan, ani' skywalker (darth vader), and also yoda. darth vader was burned in a cerimonial fashion by luke, but he also fused with the force. that (apparently) is what happens when jedi die... or atleast when they are strong with the force.
I'm not 35, I'm 19, have a girlfriend and this thing called a life. Just like many of these people on the pilot forums. We can afford to have lives because we're not constantly grinding up FS xp 24/7. Now activist posters as you put it..yeh some can be annoying but in fact this time round, it is fully justified. SOE are releasing somthing yet again that a lot of people -DON'T WANT-. As for Obi Wan being in his ghost type form..well I still don't buy it. He wouldn't appear to anyone unless they had some kind of bond with him. Remember in Ep III when Yoda says to Obi Wan how he will TEACH him how to get in touch with his old dead friend, Qui Gon? Its not somthing that regular toons are going to be able to do. If that were the case, we'd be walking inside of that crimehole which is Mos Eisely cnatina every log in session and seeing battallions of Ghost form Storm Troopers who'd been hacked to pieces in previous sessions.
This isn't about being a trouble maker 'rebel'. Its about standing up and saying that somthing is -wrong- when we have the right to as subscription paying CUSTOMERS. At least it is an expansion we don't have to buy. I don't think SOE realise that just because some people aren't High level players on the ground....they actually still play the game. This expansion seems to be all about high level content which means you've got to have combat professions. That basically rules out the expansion for people who concentrate soley on crafting and entertaining professions and as for the whole 'sidekick' system...who seriously is going to buy an expansion...just so they can be a SIDEKICK and have to rely on someone else to access the content -they- bought too? It just doesn't make sense.

I agree completely. In fact, I posted this on the Expansions forum about it:
As much as I love quests, SOE really needs to stop with the standard MMO practice of putting out expansions for "high level" characters. It works for other games, because being a crafter doesn't count against you in other games. In EverQuest 2, being a level 50 Tailor doesn't do a thing to prevent me from leveling up as a Templar. It doesn't make me less effective, and it doesn't artificially cap my levels at some lower point. In SWG, it does. If I am a Master Tailor, I will NEVER be "high level", because the highest level I can reach goes from 80 to somewhere around 60. And gods forbid I actually want to do anything other than just sew, like maybe have a few vendors to sell what I make or harvest my own resources. That sets the cap even lower.
I understand that people at the "top" need more challenges. But a lot of us will never climb that high, and we'd like some new content, too.
