Thread: POLL: Will JTL Keep You Playing Until The Combat Upgrade?

Just how is PVP not optional in either the ground game or JTL???

Rather than keeping me here, jtl is driving me further away. It is one more area in which a player is driven into PvP in a game in which it was promised that PvP would be optional.
It is also one more example of additions with a unjustifiable amount of bugs being layered onto a game which already has so many serious bugs it is difficult to play.
Amythyst
(two accounts cancelled and one on month-to-month until I check out the new games coming out)
KH, I think what people are referring to are the missions required for Master that spawn in PvP areas.
Create a char on another server, that is why you get 8 slots.
Real great post, but id like to comment and enhance some of your ideas here, so my stuff is written in blue

Five titles at once? You should get a new title every time you finish a tier not 5 titles all at once for ACE. Also, you should be able to display your faction rank along with your name. Such as "Captain Anzel Vincir . This is something that we talked about in beta that wasn't ever even addressed.
i cant agree more with this, when i saw that the Pilot titles are granted at tier4 skills i was really wondering and suprised. Those should definitly be granted at finishing each tier. (And also should get some others especially for Reb and Imp most of those just sound bad except Rebel Elite Corps)
Starship Terminals. The larger player cities should have private starship terminals that can only be used by citizens of that particular city. This would discourage people from living out in the wild like animals.
This has been discusses i guess in a hundred posts in Beta, in Polit board before beta and afterwards, but i remember that i readed somewhere that the code that is for the NPC Starports is not compatible with Player Cities. However, even if this needs much work from the devs it should become a high priority point for the long promised Politican Revamp (ok i know this will be in xx months but knowing it will be priority then would be fine)
All space stations should be like the noob tutorial where you can walk around and gaze through the windows down at Tatooine or Yavin. Sorta an homage to Stanley Kubrick. Stations should have banking terminals, bazaar terminals, cantina's, medical centers, etc., etc., etc. Again, something we talked about in Beta that was pretty much ignored.
I had yesterday with a guildmate an ever greater Idea on this. Neutral Space Stations should work like NPC cities, being able to run around on them and so on.
Additional, Factional bases should become like Caves, make shields of them attackable (but very strong), so for example rebels could fly to an Imperial Spacestation, shoot the shields down, and then dock onto the station (restrict to multiperson ships), when they docked they get onto the station which is then likea cave (and should be higher level content), additionally when this happens the base should start spawning more and more Defending Spaceships so other players have to guard the docked ships. If then the docked ships got shot, the players would get a timer until they need to get off the station (5mins maybe) or they clone, and to get off the station another multiperson ship would need to dock (only 1 ship at once i would say is a good restriction). This could become very cool PvE content
The same could then be done for the Dangerous Areas Stations, but making them PvP content, so entering players automatically get overt (and only factional players can enter), but for example when its Imperial Space Station, all Imperial Pilots get a system message that the Station is under attack, so they could engage there and defend the Imperial Base.
And to make it having a goal at last, make those dangerous Area stations switchable, like those 5 ground NPC Faction bases that can be switched.
Killscores and Rankings. Not sure how old everyone out there is but the very first 3D space simulation for me was Elite on the Commodore64. Since then there have been many copy-cats such as Privateer, I-War 2, and X-Tension/X2 by egosoft. In Elite you start off as a 'Novice' and as you kill more and more NPCs your rank progresses up to 'Dangerous', then 'Deadly', and finally 'Elite'. It would also be cool to have a badge that displays your kill stats like "...Has 234 confirmed kills" and titles like "Imperial Pilot - Deadly" instead of just "Ace".
I would really love to get kill scores, the best way would be doing this similar to the /showPvPRanking command, but having some more like NPC kills, PvP kills, average hit % and so on
Veteran Reward. It takes up a lot? It takes up a slot in the datapad? Hmmm. Maybe we should consider dropping the word 'Reward' from this one... Seriously. Call it something else. Also, you should be able to enable auto-pilot and then walk around. That would rule!
Ill agree a little with that, i have the yacht myself and its a disadvantage against not veteran players to be only able to have 2 other ships. Ok i can live with that the yacht takes a lot, i can also live with the datapad slot (But said here we had a poll in beta that we need more datapad space, for me as CH its a real nack keeping my waypoints under 100) but getting nerfed on the ship amount with a reward is not right
Grouping is still cheese. There is much debate and complaint over the 'space instance' bug where you end up in a different/random instance of space. Also, you should be able to see the direction AND distance of other members in your group like in the ground game.
This is confirmed as not being a bug, its a feature to avoid the beta problems with having too much players in an area and not being able to hyperjump there. Its affecting only new JtL players that dont have finished their tier1 missions and the feature is confirmed to be removed at some time when JtL hype goes a little back
PvP for master? Yeah, there are 12's of posts on this one. PvP for Master = Bad... Very Bad...
i know i wont make friends with this, but for me (and im a not PvPler) this is good as it is, ok all want their multi passenger ships but a master should be something only best of the best should be, it should be similar to Everquests 60+lvl players, and not something doable in 1 hour of afk grinding
Hyperspace to a WP. Why on Tatooine can I not jump to a waypoint? I know that, "Jumping through hyperspace ain't like dusting crops" but come on! We really need this. Especially for grouping. Last night a few of my guild mates were going to help me with a mission that was already in progress. I gave them a WP to where I was and it took forever for them to reach me. They should have just been able to jump right to me.
I just can hope this will be changed like u write, the only way for a group currently to meet up fast in space is hyperjumping to a specific point, thats a neck when u realise your at failing your mission and need urgent help. Maybe some cooler way would be only enhancing it the way like sending via a command a hyperspace point to a player, those player then gets a popup box to confirm the jump and then jumps to the location the player was when sending the hyperjump command.
Capital Ships. Anyone remember the opening scene to Ep IV? Or the ending scene to ROTJ? Come on. Even Wing Commander back in the 80's had capital ships. One of the disappointing things for me about SWG is the whole GCW piece. I was really hoping to zip around in my ATAT or ATST and blast rebels. With JTL I thought for sure that I would be able to dock with an Imp SD and run around in it with my new guild mates.
They definitly need to come, dont make them easy to get like the KSE Firespray, they should take millions of resources to build and they should be very hard to get but they should be implemented (but also get restrictions of maybe minimum 5 players to start the ship and also let much NPCs run around on the ship), the coolest of coolest would be make them enterable by otherside factioned members and permanent overt
Mining in Spaaaaaace. Wouldn't it be cool if there were resources you could only harvest in space? In Elite you could purchase a "Mining Laser" and collect ore to sell for profit. In X2 by egosoft you can buy mining installations to do the same. SWG is so resource-centric that the idea seems to fit right in.
Awesome Idea
Bugged Missions. This is especially painful since advancement is directly tied to the new mission system. They need to be careful here. This is where they can really start to lose people.
Well i helped now about at 10 "bugged" missions and all seemed to be not bugged but having the error on the other side of the computer, the same is for all posts in german forum about bugged missions. What definitly can be changed are some hints on specific missions, especially those find cargo missions where u need to camp specific static waypoint for a long time to get the right thing can seem to be bugged when u dont get a message that says ok u reached wp now wait until the right ship is coming.

(Quote)bottom right below posters name shows the date of the post. latest post was november 3rd 2004. Reviving such an old post is called necroing and frowned upon on these forums.
As to spacestations, the new expansion has a spacestation you'll be able to enter.(Quote)
Sorry for not knowing how to quote... but that was from WASHELL -WHOCARES....If I revive an old post... ther's about 10 million posts. Not enough time to read them all if you're not WASHELL lol
