The idea with boarding the 'vette is a good one, also possible with many other larger ships...
If you remember, awhile ago we were promised another "space-based" dungeon, much like the Corvette. A Star Destroyer. Now, this project was most likely scrapped. But, and I know a few of you out there might like this idea, I think the interior of the Star Destroyer could be made. Not a FULL Star Destroyer, maybe a few areas from it. In Deep Space, you could disable the Star Destroyers shield generators and engines, dock with it, and then perform some sort of mission. For example. This is a Rebel mission, for boarding an Imperial Star Destroyer...
MISSION BRIEFING:
"A short while ago, a Rebel freighter carrying an important Rebel scientist was captured by a Star Destroyer in Deep Space. The scientist knows the location of our new secret base, and many new starships being made to combat the Imperial fleet. A few Star Destroyers entered the region, and attacked, one of them taking the scientist with them. Before the destruction of the freighter, the Ship Codes of the Star Destroyers in the region were transfered to Rebel High Command. One of these Star Destroyers is currently traveling in Deep Space."
Now, a group of Rebels, aboard a Nova Courier with fighter escorts enters Deep Space, and find a Star Destroyer(Once again, this can be changed for Imperial and Neutral missions, this example is coming from a Rebel pilot
)
"You and your team must disable the Star Destroyer's shield generators and engines, then dock your Nova Courier with it. Your team would be able to go between the Courier and the Star Destroyer. Don't expect the Empire to just let you board though. Their will be heavy fighter resistance, let alone the resistance on board the Star Detroyer."
Your crew has now boarded the Star Destroyer, most likely in the docking bay, and now you have to fight upwards through heavy resistance to the Captain's Quarters, somewhere in the middle of the Star Destroyer.
"Once aboard, you must make your way to the Crew Quarters, and assassinate the crew, including the captain. Read over his logs to get the codes for the bridge. Once you are on the bridge, read the logs to find out if this Star Destroyer has the captive scientist."
Now, the captain of the Star Destroyer should be no pushover. Think Nightsister Elder, minus the Force Powers. Sure, you'll say, "Why should the captain have Nightsister Elder stats?" Simple, you want this to be high-end stuff, you just disabled a Star Destroyer in space, battled to the Captain's Quarters, and do you want him to be a pushover? No. Anyway, you'll find his logs on a desk, and then battle to the bridge, unlocking the doors, and reading the Star Destroyer comm logs. If it has the captive scientist aboard, rejoice! If not, set explosives on the bridge, get out, and watch the fireworks
"After finding the codes to the prison cells, battle your way through the Star Destroyer to the detention block, and unlock the scientist's cell. Escort him back to the Nova Courier, and leave the Star Destroyer. Once you escape the area with the scientist, destroy the Star Destroyer and leave the system."
And that is the mission. Remember, this can be modified for Imperial and Neutral missions, it came from a Rebel's mind. Tell me what you think of it.

I was disappointed to find there are no specific missions for multi-player crafts, Like the YT1300 having missions of pickup and delivery, and fending attacks doing the missions. Then a Master pilot can "hire" out a crew, escourts and making smuggler runs, or other multiplayer missions that would bring alive the starwars enviroment(kinda like Han Solo style play) where team PvE would make people wanting to continue flying and not repeat old tier 4 missions. But tier 5 difficult missions to challenge master pilots w/ith a believable story line, say smuggling missions from Jabba ETC

There are a lot of grand ideas I haven't the time to read in this thread, but the bottom line is that prestige points should be made useful. I'm up to like 16 million or something, spending them to enter deep space is but a mosquito's bite. I get a refund on that as soon as I pop my first corvette of the day.
I zealously support some system that utilizes these points. I'm fine with a conservative FS conversion, although I would prefer spending them on special missions or items, even purely cosmetic ship modifications. How about spending them to fly other ships, even if on a temporary basis?

Two Words:
Kessel Run:
Using similar coding to the ground based race tracks, add a small
spaceport in kessel that you can communicate with, and have it give
you a set of waypoints throughout kessel. Convert the time into some
conversion factor (of course making sure that it is nigh impossible to
beat Han's score of "less than 12 parsecs" )

I really like some of the stuff I've seen in here, especially the no FS conversion and the idea for the space/ground based 'vette mission.
More ships at the master level would be great, even if they were slightly more advanced versions of the ones in game currently, a little more streamlined perhaps or something /shrug.
I do agree that including space into the GCW is a must. One of the things I love about JTL is that it allows people who have non combat professions, such as entertainers and crafters, to go out there and get into some combat, blow some stuff up....kinda get in on the war part of Star Wars. But as it stands now pilots don't have anything to do with the GCW and that needs to be fixed in my opinion. Make it so that one faction has to controll the space around one planet in order to begin ground operations to take of the system or something...anything to make us feel like we actually play a part.
As for things to do with prestige points. Maybe give us the ability to spend them like faction points. Allowing us to get things like furniture for our homes and MPS, limited use draft schematics for shipwrights might actually be a great idea as well. Give them the option to build some parts that are on par with the looted/re'd stuff that's out there. Maybe even factional space "pets" would be fun. Imperials on the ground can spend enough fp and get stormies and an ATST to follow them around, why can't Imy's spend some prestige and get their own wing of TIE's to follow them around in formation. Back when I was flying as an Imp I would have loved that. They wouldn't even have to do anything for me to be happy, just follow me around and look spiff.
Master level missions, even if they're just simple destroy duties would be nice. It kinda bugs me that once I hit master the best I can get are missions against tier 2's and 3's. I don't know about the rest of you, but I can cut through those like a hot knife through butter and it get's pretty boring.
Just, give us something to use prestige on other than going to DS and some content after blasting that 'vette in kessel, anything! /flail

IMHO, the best part of JTL is the mission-orientation of the gameplay. Running through the privateer missions is the most fun I've had in the game (I've been playing since launch). Spaceflight is OK on its own, but it's great when you're sent out to do something specific that feels appropriate for your profession/orientation in the game (smuggling, blasting rebs, etc.).
My suggestions are...
- Add more missions.
- Increase the variety of the missions. Make them more complicated and varied.
- Allow missions to be picked up at ALL bases, including the eye candy sort that you presently can't communicate with.
- Allow missions to be picked up from other ships (freighters, Imperial/Reb shuttles, smugglers, etc.). It would be very cool to be hailed by a passing ship and asked to help out with something.
- Create space themeparks! The sequences of missions from the piloting trainers are similar to themeparks. Add more of this.
- Involve the ground game with the space game by having space missions involve both space flight/combat and interaction/combat on the ground.
It's worth noting that I'm not yet a master, but I've been getting there pretty fast (working on Tier 4 skills presently). I haven't been to Deep Space yet and I only briefly popped into Kessel. I haven't seen everything yet, but I'm beginning to get the feeling that there isn't much more over the horizon, which is a shame. There's a lot of untapped potential in JTL, so get to it devs! :-)
I have a question for all of you. Are there places to pick up missions in Deep Space and Kessel?

One thing I think would be interesting for some ace-level content is hunting other players. A player takes a mission, like attcking a squadron of Imperial TIEs for example. But after that mission is completed, the Empirehas a mission for another pilot to track down that pilot and destroy them. The names of the pilot shouldn't be used, but instead the names of the ship.
Having missions grant your "visibility" would let players choose if they wanted to take part in this form of PvP or not. If they didn't, they simply wouldn't do the missions.

Be able to buy wingmen with PP. Either have them callable from your DP like faction pets or have it be a one-time cost that lasts till you land or hyper out. Each ship would be available, except the MP (Maybe not the T/Agg for Imps, sorry, think that might be overpowered) with the higher tiers costing higher points. They'd function just like Tier 5 as far as stats and the AI does right now; they'd be programmed to stay within 1000m of you above all, attack anything that attacks you first, attack anything you're attacking second, and attack anything that attacks them third. Three Laws style
Maybe even have some of the chatter commands like form up and attack my target give them commands like the ground pets.
I think it'd be better to have them as datapad items you have to call from space, with maybe a 2-minute call delay while they jump in, otherwise it might just be a /bstrike-plus thats available to all pilots and reduces the uniqueness of the Imps.
They'd be permadeath just like ground faction pets, and they'd be repairable with SW/Artisan repair kits while on the ground at a SP, that'd make a good market for those, especially the all purpose repair kits.
Id suggest you only are allowed two or three in your DP at a time, and can only call 2. I know I'd love to pull a few Tier 5 B-wings out on a Vette run....or have two Tier 5 A-wings taking some fire from me when I'm surrounded by fighters

The only thing jedi should get in JTL is maybe some kind of special missions. They could have some kind of force bonus during these missions, kind of like how luke uses the force in the death star trench but relies on a his flying skills most of the time. But there is nothing worse than a twitch game where one player has some kind of advantage like the jedi on the ground.

with that out of the way my suggestions are:
Fix the B-wing's s-foils. I know some people will say it's a minor bug, but it kills the immersion factor. And so does seeing an AT-ST in a starport with half the cockpit through the roof of the building
Asteroids do damage to your ship: "they'd be crazy to follow us!"-adding this would also be very star warsy.
I like the idea of purchasing ships with prestige points, but i think a rebel owning a tie fighter is going a little too far. Privateers should be able to buy most of the rebel ships (except the b wing) and rebels should get most of the privateer garage, but if the rebellikon were to own a tie fighter, fleet command would own it and save it for ambushes, not let some pilot keep it. However, there could be some missions where you would get a prototype ship (a fourth slot would open up at the starship terminal) or you could steal one by having a POB ship dock with it and transfer a pilot over to it. As for the prototype ships, you could actually have missions where you have to decid whether to attack as soon as you jump into the system or try to get into the base first. And of course the imps should be able to send you on undercover missions with the criminal scum.
Now that i think of it, there should be special missions for multiplayer ships. They could take on several ye-4s at a time or something
Multiplayer ships such as the yt1300 should have slots for forward-mounted guns the pilot could fire
(like in the millenium falcon)
with the possible exception of the vt49, it doesn't make sense that the multiplayer ships are not available until master. I always imagined that the master pilot was about experimental ships (the b-wing counts as experimental-this is way before endor). However, a tier 3 smuggler should be able to fly a yt1300 or kray or whatever.
In space shipyards is a nice idea. the imps in the eu have shipyards that can house 9 star destroyers. would be ineresting to have a huge battlefield like that to fly through.
In rogue squadron 3: rebel strike (for gamecube) there is one mission where you have to fly through a tunnel made of force fields and disruptor beams. at one point, you would reach a chamber full of ties, with a gas platform in the middle. I'd like to see a mission like that in jtl.
Also, a lot of the colors and color combinations really, really suck

(OK, I'm going to split this out into separate posts, 'cause since I've become my guild's informal JTL meister, I find myself with a large heap of opinion...
)
PP->FS conversion: No, please.
While it's true that many Jedi were great pilots, they were Jedi before they even learned to fly, for the most part.
(Side note: XP conversion should go away anyway, and Jediness should be achieved by completing a long chain of really hard quests instead of hiding from your friends in an mmo and grinding....)

Force powers helping space flight: No please
-- UNLESS --
All or most other professions get powers and bonuses in space, too.
Now, while it would be fairly easy to set up BH missions in space, or give Smugglers the severe pilot lovin' they deserve, and maybe even come up with some good things for Squad Leaders sitting in an Ops chair... a Carbineer in space would sound like somebody who needs a bonus on a boarding party instead of in the pilot's chair. And an ID in space can paint your ship better. And a Merchant in space can set up a cosmic taco stand and sell you ammo reloads without landing. I don't know what the heck a spaceborne Dancer would do...
I don't think we're at the point where we're talking about that. JTL just isn't that integrated.
So, basically no.
