Yeah! I aced storm squadron! And i soloed it all the way. I used this guide the imp with bomber strike (hey i was nervous and its my first squadron i aced). I do feel little guilty for useing b-strike as after i wiped out the fighters i just watched as my bombers almost finished the corvette for me. Worked pretty much as planned but the corvette didn't hyper in at the location given in the guide well for me at least (about 4 km away). And the gun boats.. I just stayed behind them and zap-zap BOOM! No more gunboats (was pretty close too given if the exit point was accurate when i disabled the last gunboat it was 1,6 km from it). maybe I'll try this some time without the b-strike.. If i feel lucky. Thanks for the guide.

Great guide, I was able to do the Imperial version today. Funny thing is, I'm only 4443. Guess it was good practice for when I do it for master.

I'm not getting out the flame gun or anything but why aren't you all able to solo the vette with just regular weapons? I have done it on more then one occassion with no missiles, or counter measures. All I need is my IFF scramble, reactor overload, capacitor overload, shield shunting and pirate trap 2.Your not really an ace till you can go it like that.

I take on the Rebel Corvette since I am RSF. Here is my way of doing it.

The Corvette should not be aggro to you. Target weapon 5 and take it out. It only takes a few shots if you have good weapon damage output. By this time everything will be aggro to you so hit the IFF scrambler to bring them all back non aggro. From here target an enemy fighter while underneath the Vette and fire at it. Haul tail away from the Vette about 1500 - 2000m. Call in Pirate trap 2 on any of the fighters, yes yes yes I know they are weak but they will aggro enough of the fighters on to them so that you can start down the line of taking out the enemy ships.

DON'T KILL YOUR PIRATE BUDDIES!!! They are your temporary tanks... take out the fighters from heavy - fast so Y-Wings, B-wings, X-Wings, A-Wings. Once the fighters are gone time to focus on the gunboats. Take out the one directly behind the Vettes engines first. First take out the engines cause nailing its reactor keeps it going. Then shields, and then destroy it. Same for the other Gunboat. the vette may do its manuevering at some point during this. If it does high tail it out of there until you are no longer in range. Wait for the battle music to stop then go in again and that should stop its manuevers. Once the gunboats are gone thats great you have pretty much guarantee'd success at this point because I have learned without the gunboats the Vette after awhile will just stop. From here you still need to be careful to stay out of range of the vettes guns. Take out the shield then sec. shield. These are at the front of the corvette on the left and right side. Once those are gone take out the engines. From here you need to be crafty cause you need to take out the remaining weapons. It can be done without being engaged by them.

Get under the vette in line with the gun you want to take out. Get so that you can see a tiny bit of the tip of the gun and fire on it. You won't hit it dead on every shot but if you are posistioned correctly every so often you will hit the gun. Once the guns are gone missions basically over. Just take out the reactor then the bridge and poof... welcome to master pilot/ Imperial ace/Rebel Ace.

You can follow the same strat for the Star ravager I just hate doing the ravager cause Tie aggressors piss me off. Have a nice day

You need IFF Scramble and Pirate Trap?

Presonally, I just found IFF Scramble handy the last time I did it, I managed to get lazy about the whole thing and the Vette started maneuvering. I found the guns not terribly difficult to take out on the top if you come around the sides in close from where you would kill the engine ... and I'd be coming up from a bit below too. This assumes you killed the gunboats before disabling to make that run like that, but a similar approach from the front isn't bad, just be careful and duck down if you start taking fire.

I wrote this guide with the targeted audience of the player who's doing his first pilot mastery. Therego, the intent was to draft out the easiest, cleanest method possible. At the time i wrote this, the forum was being inundated by, "how to do the vette?" requests.

So i figured it was time someone wrote something quick and easy that most anyone could follow, it wasn't intended as an Epien waving post bragging about doing the vette in a 40K mass Tie/ln with a single L7 gun or something like that.

Sometimes you have to adlib it and make snap tactical decisions on the fly when you come into kessel and find the vette 5KM from its exit and you really dont feel like waiting 2 hours. Point is there are lots of different ways one can go about doing the vette. As long as you take out the gunboats, do whatever works for you. This guide isn't the authoritive way to do it, but it is arguably the easiest and cleanist in method.

Here's how bad a pilot I am... first time around trying to master (SA), a guildie had to solo my vette while I died twice - he had the presence of mind to wait for me after DB'ing the vette while I got repairs. But I got my master.

Read this guide today, and soloed my vette in one try. Thanks!

Both accounts cancelled. DnL & PotBS for me...

There is yet another way to kill a vette if your a good pilot first take out gun 5 that seem to be every where but fly below and in fornt of the vette take out its shields and engine if you position the ship just right you can kill the top guns without getting into thier line of sight make it more challenging . Forgot to add ni missles required just blasters and skill.
