Thread: The 'vette: a study in absurdity
Nokilo's Thread
I appreciate the post and will use that strategy when my time comes, but I have a few questionss. What about ordinance? Would it be easier to launch missiles at gun 5 instead of using blasters? I've already stated my blasters are not that good (I'm going to get WO3 before trying the vette). And if you ignore the gunboats, will going topside to take out the reactor and top guns put you in the gunboats' line of fire?

Maybe, maybe not. Firing a missile off will requiregetting a lock, which requires keeping the target in range and in view for several seconds. If you are close enough to get a lock then turret 5 is probably raining fire down at you and those few seconds could get you killed. The theory behind blasters is that you can juke until you get close enough to get just a few quick shots in, but it only requires a few direct hits to blow the turret.
I'm certainly not saying you are wrong, as I know several die-hard missile users. Using blasters against the turrets and systems is the dogfighters approach to tackling a corvette and it seems Nokilo took that approach. (I do too, but it's not my guide)

Actually, no. Iunderstand why you would see that as a problem, but you just need to play out the situation in your head or see it happen in Kessel. To get to the Reactor you must have destroyed the Engine. Destroying the Engine disables the corvette, stopping it dead in space. When it stops the two gunboats fly around and continue on the flight path. Letting them fly away is essentially the step following the destruction of the Engine. Please, please, please have someone destroy the gunboats, though. Failing to do so could blow the spawn schedule of future corvettes.

Is it because you killed the Vette and you guys think everyone else should go through the pain and anguish you went through?
Actually, no. It is because the majority here does not see it as pain and anguish. We saw, and see it as a very welcomechallenge to overcome. For us, it was fun, it was the challenge for the reward. If anything we want others to feel the same elation we felt when we finally figured it out and beat it.
How many times did it take you to kill your first NS Elder? Finish the ground game vette the first time? How often did you die?
I am not sure why people expect to be able to do this easily the first time around, if everything in the game is like that, it will get boring real quick.
Ahh I see. Allow me to answer that...
kill your first NS Elder? NEVER
Finish the ground game vette the first time? NEVER and have yet to be able to do so even though close personal friends think they can solo it... FAH
How often did you die? 100% of the time
didnt... I also enjoy challenges, but this is much more than that. What has become boring is BANGING my head against this wall of insanity.
I'm simply going to buy my Master pilot badge.
To be honest, that doesn't sit well with me and I'm sure it doesn't sit well with any of you either.
Maybe if they made the ship spawn more often or at least published the spawn times and made those times consistent it would be easier to organise groups of people willing to help.

I don't have pilot tricks from other factions, because that's ubsurd, imo. As a reb, I'm not gonna ask Mr. Imp pilot for his skills-on-disk nor should he give them to me for ANY price. He should shoot me in the face for asking.

Sure, its supposed to be the hardest mission out there, but this is by leaps and bounds more difficult. Its just ubsurd.
