OK, I'm not quite that bad of a PvP noob...

I've been in Deep Space about 5 times now, there's been someone there 3 times. I got jumped twice (once because I didn't put target closest enemy player on my hotkeys [yes, that was dumb] and the second time because after about an hour I stopped checking for players and one hypered in). Despite that, I managed to pull out a victory of all three times. I quite like Space PvP.

I always let my target/s know I'm there from a good distance away. They're still probably going to go down, regardless.

So the complimentry fly-by to let them know you were there is called "jumping" now. You're a better man than I. I look at Situational Awareness as being Natural Sellection in space. I would never walk up to another pilot, tap him on the shoulder and say "Hello sir or ma'am. I will be your destroyer today." The ONLY time I send a friendly warning is when I am in my RGI and farming in DS. I will not hunt or activly PVP. So if I see a Reb I'll send a tell informing them that I am out farming or looting and they attack at their own risk. I won't kill them unless they shoot at me first.

And what is this about the X being easy to fly?! Any person who uses an X-Wing or Opressor in PVP and can actually come out on top is a skilled pilot in my book. Us squint jockies are the ones that have it easy...along with those A-wing nuts. Our skill comes in loading out our ship and not getting hit. Other than that all an Interceptor or A-wing pilot really has to do is fly fast and look seksay. X-Wings are the only ships that make me sit up straight in my chair and really focus on what I'm doing. A JSF is nothing more than a really cool looking starter ship.

To be honest I never normally "warn" people, but, I love showing off and they were nubship flyers, so that make me want to show off (for example, I fly my Ywing, take out their reactor and love to flyby their cockpits whilst sniggering). In Kessel, I would normally just vape people, in DS its a bit more civilised and you chat to your enemy. Its a bit WW1 esque (What ho chaps, you wish to fight me in my plucky Sopwith Camel? etc.)

Admittedly, also, they were seriously outmatched. I was in my new spanking heavyX (still bugged my alt had to get it for me). It carries twin matched QS exp. blasters, a speed matched heavy blaster, mark 3 prot launcher, lvl 8 shield (from the early days of JTL when the loot was seriously off the chart) and my centerpiece lvl 10 standard look engine, I was equipped well enough to have fun wothout real risk. My standard X however, works just as well with a prenerf lvl6 engine and 3 adv blasters+mk3 proton launcher.

For tactics in an X are simple, go head to head with shield power forward, if you dont get a kill on a nubship immediately, you have to dogfight them as your arse is so weak. In the heavy its so easy to outturn JSFs and the like, however, when you hit one that is trouble, get it to follow you , cut speed and turn hard. They will try to follow at high speed, missing you and flying in front of you.

Good thing about the X is, I have configured mine to be the optimum of damage output, yet also being able to soak up damage and keep going (I got 6-7 PvP kills in Kessel when trailing smoke, missing a blaster and having the eject button lit up). Plus, with the level 10 engine it can dodge fire like a squint or pointer.

Personally, I think the Xwing is the sexiest rebel ship in game and with movie look lvl10 engines its great (cool paint job too). Sometimes I just fly around opening and closing the foils while saying "S-foils to attck position" etc.

That is SOOOO going in one of my warning tells. No more of this roleplaying warning nonsense!

I followed one cat halfway across the zone yesterday, waiting for him to notice my tells while he raced to blow up the ISD. Still didn't put up much of a fight when he did notice, finally.

LOL!

This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I've been an imperial pilot and had the ship forever. The ships strength is it's hit box size. It is small, fast, and hard to hit. It rocks if you set it up right.

How about starting a post for guns that only go in RG ships with 15000-20000 damage?

Really, you mean the hitbox is bugged, not small. However it would still be a cool ship even if they fixed the bug.

I've decided that I'll feel guilty about the RGI hitbox as soon as JSF pilots start feeling guilty about their mass, profile, and hit box

I'm an Actis pilot who has quit flying the Actis because of its stats. I feel guilty flying the damned thing. Right now I'm flying an advanced Z-95, which isn't too much better, but at least I'm a far more hittable target.

I have to say that each is as bad as each other, which is why I never fly any nubships anymore (except the heavy X) and take such perverse pleasure in killing JSFs, BSFs, and all manner of ROTW ships in my stock Xwing and Ywing (and the Y deuce).

Funny thing is, a lot of their pilots seem to be of the "the easier it is the better" way of thinking, whereas I enjoy the challenge and fulfillment of completing something difficult. Their attitudes seem to match this way of thinking too. Only today I vaped a JSF whilst in my Xwing. I sent the guy a friendly tell asking if he was carrying a crafted engine as he didnt manouvere very fast as an opening to see if he wanted any friendly tips/adviceand got a really longwinded reply about how I was so bad for not saying nice flying (it wasnt), calling him a noob (i didnt), saying I pwned him (I never say pwned, ever) and how i was going on his ignore list etc. I laughed so hard I crapped my kidney out. The other kidney came out 10 mins later when I saw him in Kessel and vaped him again.

Though the heavy starter ships are a bit unbalanced too, I have a sneakingfeeling of admiration when I see a TIE coming at me these days, though I remember a guy who brought an old style TIE to DS one time and nearly flew circles around me. I did the same myself in an old styleZ95 for a laugh once, course I had a REed lvl 4 engine with 60+ ypr and 75 speed, Im not totally mental.

only if those 15-20k damage guns can also go onto my Nova. a four man ship should whup any single man fighter in one to two shots!

but thats another topid to discuss somehow setting up ship rolls, shield, weapon and armor classes where for example a Longprobe could take more punishment with 2400 shields then say a Awing with the same shields. Xwing, Z-95, Awing classified as intercepters, Ywings/Bwings as gunships/fighter bombers. POBs as "Destroyers" with 25k shields and guns that do insane damage. however due to the nature of the game it should wouldnt work well since noone would want to pvp in a Y-Wing just to take out a bigger ship. not to mention unless we had lots more people and bigger groups in space like 30 man groups(ie a Platoon or a full Wing with bombers and fighter escorts) you could never have roll specific craft

Hey, we have a modifier for speed, why not throw a modifier in their for weapons and shields as well.

Honestly, an awing or a new heavy ship with a level 10 gun? Just too much.

Why? You trade off for it in other areas - that's what went towards making the original ships somewhat balanced. A light fighter might mount a level 10 gun,b ut you sacrifice engines and shields. What they should have done was scale loot in other areas better - a level 8 reward shield shouldn't be the near end all of shields.

Of course, in an Actis or B-22, you can fit wahtever you want in there, but that's another argument.

They're playing with legitmiately designed, if overpowered, starfighters. You're flying a ship with a known bug which offers an advantage far superior to the JSF.

The JSF pilot is a poon, you are an exploiter. Would you care to explain how you justify racing the JSF pilot to the bottom of the piloting barrel?
