Somebody already mentioned guild space stations, but I like you modding idea

However, what about those of us that enjoy the free life? Sans guild.

I like most of these ideas so far, wish I had more to add at present, but just don't, sorry

Hmm, now that's something to puzzle over if we're still dwelling on the guild stations idea. If you're looking at my/Shogan's idea of faction-specific stations, you've got a space-housing option. BUT, it's one station per Freelance Squadron, so if you wanted to keep your house while switcing squadrons, you're screwed.I s'pose you could put all three squadrons in one station.

Right, I like your independent squad station proposal. One alt is apart of the SA for life. My Imp pilot is gonna do all the squads though, eventually, when I find time, in another life....

But yes, I like the idea of having acommunity for Smuggler Alliance Pilots. Could imagine the brawls, seeing whom we wanna go steal cargo from, gambling, booze, and less than appropriately clad females of multiple races

Was kinda responding to the modder's and guild station proponent, but really love your and shogun's freelance squad station proposal, I don't see why all those ideas couldn't have their place.

Nercoed I see, so be it, i was itching to nerco it myself. yea for what that is it should work too, so its a decent idea, and they could just have a eq2 dev fidle with swg until he or she got it right (oh lord the bugs that would cause)

LOL I can just imagine...:

Your ships would all immdeately spawn at the Theed starport, and turn hot pink. Also, it would cause all your Macros to loop (and the /dump command wouldn't work), no matter if they were programmed to loop or not. Any Lightsabersin your inventory would default to the image of a Vibro Lance and turn to a sickly shade of green. Any Spraysticks and Vibro Lances in your inventory would automatically convert to deeds for Krayt Gunships, while any Trando hunting rifles would convert to fully-loaded Heavy Z-95's that have 10 mass POB Elitecomponents in 'em.

It would be cool if they added this with capital ships but i think another rule should apply to this like maybe a certification to use a space house like say having master pilot.

Space stations cannot be player placed.
Would be disasterous if they blocked for a escort mission.

they could be player placed... there'd just have to be no build zones

those random escourt duties would screw ya, thats the main reason i said to use the faction station already placed, giving them instances.

The best thing they could do would be to add more specialty zones to space. In addition to a couple "buildable" zones I think adding the trade lanes to tie us into the GCW would be good.

If you tied a Skyhook style space station only to the largest class of player cities then you would only have a few of them per plannet. Allowing any guild to have them would clog up space pretty quickly.

skyhooks never seemed right in my book anyways, but if you wanted to tie a guild/city/what have you to a space station, instead of an elevator, give the residents of the city an ticket (unlimited tickets to be made by the mayor/leader/w/e), and lets the shuttleporte able to take you to them. But that brings us back to the whole cluttering up space thing. but as i said before, those little tiny tiny sattelites you see in space, with the main body and 2 semicircles around it, wouldnt take up much space, and if an escort ship hit one..it would either pass though or bounce off and keep going.

Ways to make stations rare but viable:

1.) Maintenance paid in prestige, on the order of millions per week, only payable by the owner.

2.) Multiple-mastery requirements for the owner

3.) Tied to a planetary city.

4.) Tied to a guild.

i dont see why they need to be rare, with all that space out there, it seems like we wouldnt need it to be rare, as for me enuff talking about the game ima go play it
