nice guide, I have learnt a lot from it and will continue too as I haven't masteredsome of these techniques yet.

I am gonna sound like a real goat for this but.....

Has anyone tried the Top Gun brakes trick in space pvp? Does it work?

/grin

Sorry bored, daydreaming at work and I had to ask after thinking about it

My God! I'm reading this again, with my throttle in front of me and... I'm finally getting so of it! lol. I thought I knew about turning, rolls, following and stuff but... this explains so much! Can't wait to get in game. Woot! Thanks again, viduus.

Ok your head on with aequal pilot! Dont dive wildly to the side and give them the chance to nab your tial!

Instead ( if you have the shield or armor to come out ok ) Fire as much as you Can into them and as they are aboutto pass you drop down to 25% speed and turn towrds them and Macthspeed and Tail them! Very useful for NPC havent tryied it in PvP but if done riight they Die or very damaged ( depent on your weapons ) and you will have a tail on them !

All very good tactics. I agree 100 percent and practice them as much as I can. PvP in space is tough on Tarquinas because not many people space PvP.

I do have 1 PvP kill under my belt and it was against an Advanced X-Wing. He had an ungodly amount of engine though because I just could not catch up to him but when I finally did in 2 shots he was gone. I am in an M22 Krayt with 7600 - 11094 damage a shot and never thought a Tier 4 ship would go down that easy. He either had really crappy parts or my Projectile Weapons were that strong.

1 tactic I use sometimes for NPC's is this. If you are up against a tough npc like a tie aggressor or a fast A-wing just stop. If your shields can handle a couple blasts by them stop and just wait for them to come head on they always do. Line yourself up and fire away. This is an especially good strat when facing the tie aggressors cause even tailing them is dangerous. The aggressors are out of range most of the time if you stop and only get 3-5 good shots in on ya with this strat.

here's a few more tactics and a few mentioned ones refined, and maybe some i didnt see cause to lazy read all 3 pages

1.neg g and high g rolls(even tho space flight has dif rules than atmospheric flight soe has atmorspheric rules in game)

-neg g roll, roll to left or right while diving will increase speed and get you infront of target, high g roll roll and climb will reduce speed and get you behind target, use neg g when planning to run or flying with a wing getting infront target will distract him allowing enemy to try and get lock on you while your wing man blows his @$$ off.

2.head-to-head you will take some shots to front shield but you will also get many shots on his shields and armour(only use if you have good shields

3.S-turn, flip 180 degrees reduce speed and pull up, go full throttle at apex the do hard 180 at half throttle will put you behind target.

4.loop-to-loop, self explanatory pull up at high speed till done full circle will put you behind target, since diving increases speed s-turn better on fast targets, use loop-to-loop on slower targets since s-turn could over shoot them.

5.fly-by, (top gun hit break thing)

6. leading(also called tracing) get about 300-500m behind target above him/her match speed angle nose down slightly and slightly reduce speed to match at angle(angle of attack) target will then try evasive manuovers, dont try to follow target but follow space infront target(jtl gives ya that neat target thing infront ship to follow use it), burst fire. if done correctly target will fly into your fire and if distence correctly be hard to evade you, also since you are following his evasive manouvers, you will evade his wing men. remember to constaly adjust speed to maintaIN MATCHED SPEED, if you useing a one handed joystick, no throttle or game pads keep free hand on keyboards M key.

extra note, for ships with tail guns, arc's/agressors/krayts, target tail gun first get it out way if you can maintain an angle of attack it hard for tail gun to get you, but if he levels to straight flight infront ya it may kill you so get it out way first.
