Well, in my opinion, and many others, I think JTL is well thought out and works better than any other system in the game from a combat perspective. Pre or post the combat downgrade, JTL is quite well balanced. Yes it has some problems, but even so, the biggest problem to fix is coming...they have new and better components for POB ships coming. This also solves a bunch of Ship Wright issues in respect to sales and usefulness.

There are bugs, no arguing, but PvP has been beat to death on both sides, but at least the server I play on has a very successful PvP environment. It is different than the ground game. You have to look at it more in a twitch style...*shrug*

The issues in JTL are not nearly as large or glaring as the ground, and not even close to as bad as CURB *shudder*

What they said!!!

I'd like to say I love JTL. I spend 75-90% of my time in space since it launched. Not due to hating the Groundgame, or any CU flailings.. it's because I just really enjoy JTL.

I'm excited about these new ships and components, I do believe PvP needs some looking at but mainly just fixing Droid Programs to work as intended would be a major step in the right direction. More content.. well who would turn that down either?

I know no fear, but rather I instil it in my enemies. I am the destroyer of worlds.
I know the power of the Dark Side. I am the fire of hate.

Only problem with being this Correspondent is the utter lack of any JTL attention. JTL is the official "Red-Headed Step-Child" of SWG. No effort has been made to fix any of the glaringly obvious problems, which could explain the short tenures of the Correspondents for Pilot.

What obvious problems? Let's start with PvP. I can hold my own before any get on that rant, but it is a one shot, one kill affair. Look at the busted alarm artwork which has gone ignored. God bless whoever takes on this daunting task.

You do make some good points. What left me jaded about JTL is quite simply, it is not Star Wars space combat. As crazy as it sounds, XvT and other games of it's type were what Star Wars PvP combat was like. I argued ad nauseum about how un SW it was, but people were physics majors and wanted what was NOT on film. I know, canon is a horrid argument, but the fact remains, SW space combat is much like what Lucas based it on...WWII Dogfighting. If someone got on your tail, you had a finite amount of time to get them off as they plinked you. PvP here is a dosey doe in a circle if you do not get the first shot off.

Hmm. Let's not turn this into another PVP thread, think we've got enough of those already. Instead, let's stick to the real issue here: tricking Vegitaa into /bowdisrespectully to everyone. It, erm, shows leadership.

I have to agree with you here. I would have jumped at the chance to be Pilot Correspondant in January or Febuary but I feel that JTL isn't getting it's fair share of attention and ROTW is being treated as JTL part 2 in many ways. The additions that look so great in ROTW are great but many of them should be already in live servers as added content for JTL players.

Hopefully after the movie is released the devs can split their time equally towards both sides of the game.

The Pilot Profession boards remind me very much of the Pikeman boards in that it's a tight-knit group, minimal flaming, some absolutely fantastic threads, and a good sense of community.

We're all here to share our passion for JTL and the Pilot profession. No matter who's selected for the correspondent job itself, it's a win in my book because we're moving forward.

Good luck to all applicants.

Why not? The Devs have ignored this aspect of JTL since it's inception. I think statements about what is wrong need to be rammed down their throats so they get the message. This may explain the short tenure of this pilot Correspondent. I know he/she never reached Tiggs "new" 6 month guideline.

Because I don't think this is the place for debating specific issues. I'm with you in feeling like JTL's been an afterthought since December or so--a trend that needs to be reversed soon--but there's an awful lot of issues with an awful lot of sides to be getting into them in a thread about an open correspondent spot.

On the other hand, it's not a bad thing for whoever gets it to be reminded of these issues, but I'd think they should be well aware of them already. Furthermore, I'd hope the new correspondent is willing to work and/or fight hard enough to keep them in the dev teams' minds, or get them there if they're not already.

Lawd knows the CU and RotW is going to be keeping everybody busy for a while, it's going to be some interesting times.

Edit: Ah ha, Vegitaa's fallen right into the trap. Quick, who's got the spears and camcorder?

Would being a huge, huge fan of JTL be a possible qualifier?

Probably get pounced for that y'know! LMAO!

JTL needs some polish in a big way. More importantly now that CU and ROTW are almost live there's gonna be a cooling down phase in regards to "drastic" changes I think. Hopefully that means once there's like a 1 month shakedown of hotfixes and publishes for them (CU ROTW) I have a feeling a lot of things are gonna get fixed.

SWG has got to know that they have a goodthing with JTL. This is the ONLY time an MMORPG has mixed a Ground Based Sci-fi related MMO and a FLight Sim style MMO. Both things have been done to death individually, but this is the first that takes it to the next level. A lot of us players forget that sometimes.

Dev's have been doing a lot of good stuff, this CU is workin them hard I think that has more to do with the bosses bosses than the actual "in the trenchs" Dev's and Community folk. JTL will get it's fixes, just needs a little imagination on the Dev's part and little listening on the higher up's part.

  • Are you knowledgeable about the Pilot profession?

    • Master Pilot, and "yes."

  • Are you a community leader?

    • The only community leaders around here are the only ones who have input into the game, and that's SOE, who continuously craftsthe game design in the ivory tower vacuum.

  • Can you objectively identify relevant issues and distinguish them from simply passionate arguments?

    • Very well, I'm a 20 year veteran of successful business leadership, but there's no point in doing so as a Correspondent, since their input does not figure into the ivory tower methodology that lead to the game revamp we're being force-fed. The Correspondents didn't like it either and many have left their posts as a result.

  • Do you like organizing information and corresponding with other members of a community?

    • Very much so, but that effort would be wasted, and I see no reason to be disrespected as a Correspondent by SOE. It's worse than a thankless duty, its also one that is ignored, disrespected by SOE's behavior, and lacks any substantive purpose or effect.

I frankly have no idea why anyone would want to bea Correspondent in the SOE SWG team's regime. It's an affront. It's simply a ploy by SOE to give players a sense that they have a voice, when that has time and again proven to be far from the case. Absurd.

Bug fixes for space have some down the line at a rate comparable to other professions. Content has been added on a consistent basis,in spitethe ground game undergoing mammoth revamp. Anyone with half a brain can see a lot of the changes we've been asking for have obviously been "held" to be added to the expansion and that is a perfectly reasonable strategy.

This thread isn't about the problems with JtL. This thread is about finding a new Corrospondent. Since I have absolutely no sympathy for the inattentive ingrates who feel JtL has been ignored, It's probably good I'm not applying. I'm too attached to my own opinions to seek the consensus view.
