Its just getting very repetitive and annoying hearing all you butthurt ppl whine and moan over, how you got owned by someone in a JSF, I mean just get over it, and spare us your grief.

The problem is that it shouldn't be a superior ship. It was the first building block to the TIE Fighter. And we all no the TIE Fighter isn't a superior ship itself. So, care to explain how it is to be superior now? It has no shields and no hyperdrive. About the only thing that makes it better than the TIE is the fact that it could have an astromech.



Just because it doesn't have shields/hyperdrive in the movies doesn't mean it can't have them ever, ever heard of modification? In the movies, its super small. In SWG its small and Small Hitboxes help you out in Space PvP tremendously.


Yes, I heard of modification. And the JSF was upgraded to the TIE Fighter. Both the JSF and TIE Fighter were punched out of a factory with no room for modifying it. Yes, you can fly your JSF, but you couldn't change anything on it. You had to keep those standard blasters and have no shield or hyperdrive. No one had a JSF of their own, they were government issue, along with the TIE. You weren't allowed to change it in any way. I'm not saying it should be taken out of the game, but change it to the point where it is balanced.

Ok, obviously some poeple are missing the point. Of course you can kill a JSF if you are a better pilot. Janu does it in an A-Wing, I do it all the time in a TIE Heavy that is not even equipped with JSF hunting in mind.


The point is:


ANYTHING YOU CAN DO IN ANY SHIP, YOUCAN DO BETTER IN A JSF.


Do you understand now?


Anything. PvP. PvE. Taking out cap ships. Everything in all of JTL. From a completely technical point of view, there really isn't a good reason not use it. And how fun would space be if everyone used the same ship?

I've never got beaten by a JSF. Did it damage my ship? Yes, to the point were I needed to get a couple of parts replaced. But in the end, I came out the winner. We all want the JSF to be changed because it isn't fair that 1) you can just buy it on the vendor and 2) it has things the actual JSF never had. Either bring down it's stats or bring all the other ship stats up.

Darth_Platypus - Ship balance is a tough call to make, but I will look at the existing ship balance scheme very carefully and see if the new ships need to be brought in line, or if the old ships need a facelift...




Besides the questionI asked Darth_Platypus in the IRC chat above, I also talked to him privately for a bit about ship balance. He told me there that he was aware of the fact that buffing up the none-ROTW ships might not be possible because the ROTW when equipped with a nice engine running EO4 were already pushing the limits of the JTL game system can handle. Personally I think buffing isn't a possible solution. A JSF with acrafted engine running EO3 works fine, however a JSF with a nice RE'd level 8 or level 10 engine running EO4 turns too shard for the game client's predictive algorithm to keep up with. We've all seenit in PvP; aJSF or Belb22rubberbanding all over the place as the client is constantly having its predictions corrected by new information from the server. Shooting down aship that is behaving in such a way turns into pure luck. Buffing the pre-ROTW ships up to the same level will just make things worse. If that's what the devs ultimately do, I know that myself and a lot of other people will just give up on JTL PvP entirely. (Oh, and for those of you that are wondering, I play on a 4 megabit, 75 ping connection, which puts me above average for most SWG players.)
