Wow, I attributed this to lag.

I have been seeing this in my latest pilot grind. I play on Kettemoor, andI saw this long ago when i ground out master pilot on my jedi main adn rebel pilot on my alt., but Inever checked the forumsto seeifit was a bug. I always attributed it to lag of some sort, although 99% of the time I never see visible lag effects in space. When I play the ground game I experience a world of lag, rubberbanding and fun. Lol, I quit the game a few times due todispleasure adn siappointment over flow of the ground game, but JTL andspace keeps bringing me back.

Anyhow, recentlyon my Shipwright/Smuggler alt, I dropped rebel pilot infiltrate the Imperial empire to learn some of their engineering secrets, trainingand programing techniques. heh heh. Istarted doing the Storm Squadron story line. I am currently 2222 imp pilot on that character. It seems that on any mission I will encounter at least aone or two (if not more)situations similar to what you are describing during the course of completing the mission.

As far as a pattern, I have no clue. I can be right on the target's tail, at a distance, head on, from the side, above, or below. I've seen this happen up to down, down to up, left to right, right to left.. no real specific angles or movement patterns. It just seems to happen, and when it does happen nothing I do will harm that target.I will be firing. I will see the shields take the hit, and take a lot more hits.Usually if i keep on firing, I'll see some explosions from hitting equipment, but my target seems to take no damage. No shield decay, no armor decay, no system dmg nothing. Sometimes this lasts a few seconds, andI've had it lastover10 minutes on more than one occasion, just trying to figure out if i was aiming wrong or if the target was really invulnerable.

I just sorta adjusted my playstyle to change targets when I noticemy targetnot taking dmg even though I am clearly hitting it. If there is anything close that I can target and hit, I'll go kill that and go back to the one I could notseem to dmg and the problem tends to go away.If it happens on the last target in a wave, and nothing else is around to attack, I fly off1km or moreand let them chase and shoot at me for a bit, then turn around after abit and can hit them and do damage.

I'll see ifI canmake a movie of it next time it happens. Though it won't be for a bit, as I am waiting forthe next patch to login, as I don't want my creatures and droids nerfed to CL 1 when I login, and I am hoping that by not loggin in I won't have to deal with that "feature" of pub 19.

Experienced this a few times this morning while going up against Tier 2/3 Xwings/Z95s during Black Epsilon tier 2 duty missions. Most of the times I noticed it happening were when I was hitting from the sides and from above.

Had one that it was most noticeable on where a Tier 2 enemy took at least 12 hits without it's shields/armour being touched. I had no weapon overload programs running at the time (trying to rule out a few variables).

I've run into this bug several times now. It's seems to mostly effect the longest ships like the Neutral Class ships such as the Kimogilla and the Rihkxyrk. Not sure why but the smaller ones are less prone to this effect bug happening. I've encountered it in Kashyyyk space, Tattooine Space and Dantooine space so far while doing delivery missions from Kashyyyk's ettyyy hunting grounds. I personally pilot a Rihkxyrk andI am a 4/4/3/3 neutral pilot

The ships are totally invulnerable to damage from the top and the bottom. only directly behind or a head on attack will damage them. Even a partially behind shot will probably be effected by the bug. It didnt' effect every ship though, that's why I assuming it has something do with the bigger fighters. Could be wrong but that's my guess.

Hope this info helps. I know it's alittle vauge here and there. but I was kinda cursing at my screen about the bug when I found it again. O_O

I don't think it's lag or sync issue that's causing ship to stop taking damage. "Why?" you ask...well...

I've actually observed other players hiting ships and the ships taking no damage. If this was a latency or sync issue I would not seen the hits or the sheilds lighting up on the target. And they have seen me hitting targets that take no damage. Further investigation is probably required.

This is a good point, and makes latency seem less likely. Still, if the server is getting the location of the player's ship correct, and the data being sent to both you and the other fellow late data (due to server side lag delays) Its possible you could see the same out of synch ship.

Side note: When a ship goes invulnerable that is ahead of me by say, 80m, sometimes I get shot in the back. I can only assume it did speed-drop and hit me from behind while I still see it lumbering on ahead of me.
