Thread: PVP etiquette?

I've said this before on the Jedi issue, and I'll say it again on the EPulse one...
If the developers are so inept as to create and release a game where everything is not 100% balanced, it is up to us, the players, to play honorably and balance the game ourselves.

Depends on where you play. On Starsider, missiles are just a normal way of life. I use them in PvP events and fully expect the enemy to as well. But as your second point says - have chaff ready because the enemy is likely packing missiles too.
Hehe... Point 6 is what I live by on Bloodfin
When I moved to Starsider I started getting missile warnings in 8 outta 10 times, and naturally I bitched about it (just a second nature for me really)... Im slowly adapting to it (meaning I **edit** lesser and lesser about it heh)
With regard to Leaph, he is one of the 2 pilots on the 2 servers I PvP that could own me consistently in his AWing... Noone else have come even close in a blaster only fight... Sure there are some really good pilots on both servers... Just not on the same niveau
This said... I still find it lame to use missiles when you outnumber the opponent... And with regard to the YT pilot using EP... Well... POBs are now among the deadliest PvP opponents should they have a nice crew... Sure I could use a Opp with triple SB2s... But that just wouldnt be as fun as trying to kill it in an Advanced
/launchmissile sends a fake dummy warhead at your current target. Looks and sounds like a real missile to the guy on the receiving end, so its considered griefing (especially because you can do it over and over and cause major lag).
Using *real* missiles is a matter of personal preference. Most people consider that it takes more skill/luck to get a kill with a blaster rather than a missile, so there is some stigma associated with ordnance just for that. But it varies per server and per group of pilots.

I have a question i did not see addressed here, if I misssing it im sorry, but I saw somwone say that useing /launchmissile was bad. now is that in a macro, or is useing missilesin pvp just frowned uppon.
The reason I'm asking is that I was having a fun little PVP with a player. At one point we started jousting, and I launched a missile just as he got in range to start shooting himself. Both of us died. He complained about me useing a missile, so to keep things civil, I dissabled my missile launcher for the remainder of our fighting.
So I need an opinion. I will refrain from missiles in PVP if the majority is against it. Bummer if it is, I got 3 mark 4 proton launchers in my nova courier.
Well personally, I'm a great believer in the phrase 'do unto others as you would to yourself'.
I rarely use missiles, but will do against certain heavily armoured targets or in mass events. Now the thing is, I don't mind if people launch them at me either. I have chaff so I'll use it. If the chaff fails or I havn't chaffed in time, well I tried at least. I wouldn't say I'm a big fan of them, but they do add an element of depth in the larger pvp events which is undeniable tactically when you get stuck into them. I guess my viewpoint is, personally I'll go after someone with blasters primarily, but they can missile me if they wish. Missiles are in no way near as bad as Epulse.
