Generally when flying against someone I haven't before, I'll refrain from tells unless they're game enough to keep coming back. Then eventually it will be something appropriate. There's a difference between that and friendly razzing between 2 people who've flown before. Tek and I were in 'fin DS on Friday, and there was a some good natured ribbing about his macrotell he sent me before we engaged. He knew it was good natured (I hope) and so I intended it. Nothing wrong with a little razzing among colleagues.

Me- has it been 10seconds yet? Should I leave? Hey, where'd you go?

[well that's not exactly what was said, but it's just as amusing as the things I did say ]

I tend to say something, that way you learn if they are friendly types or not, the frienldy types you can teach a few tricks, give a few tips to and have fun fighting in the future as they improve and become more formidable targets. That helps boost the number of PvPers and the friendly ones are generally the ones who abide by the unwritten rules of space. E.g. no kill zones at load in points, RP banter ("thats for alderaan you Imperial scum"), and the practicing of new tactics against. Plus, its always nice to fly against someone who is technically inferior in flighttime or kills or whatever to you, as quite often they wont have become set in their ways andcan pull some amazing/surprising/effective trick out of the bag that you would never think of.

The rude ones, well the next time im tooling through Kessel they wont be getting any friendly warnings.

Something else struck me a little bit ago, while helping a friend dohis Vette. It'll have to wait until later but... I experienced something I hadn't before, a collection of Pilots! 4 from our Guild, 2who were either seeking to do the vette themselves and 2 who were just flying around

Ha! you sound like a friend of mine. We didn't have 20 Pilots here but... it was the number, And, actually, the Interaction which stopped me in my tracks. There's communication Here, but, this was the first time I had flown with a number of NON guild Pilots. The atmosphere is a great deal different. Alot of flying about, and talk, much of it Pilot related. People speaking of their experiences, their ships, and their tactics. It wasn't as indepth as I would have wished but, just watching people in action was quite something. I'd seen groups do Vettes before, though, it's been awhle. Since then I've done two on my own... I got to see things from a completing different vantage point. I mainly was on screen duty. Something which went by Very quickly. From then on out I did a lot of sitting back and watching.

My two vettes were killed with missiles. here we had one person doing it the way I had done it, and another person who went in and took out weapon 5 first, and then picked off various other systems. The missiles took out the Shields, and did most of the damage on the engines. I had forgotten this aspect of RL craft; watching how others work, listening to them talk, and just drinking everything incidental in. Studies are showing what Tradesmen, Martial Artists, and others have known for a long time; Observation is a key part of learning, even if you don't know exactly what you are seeing at the time.
