OK, something is wrong with this, i'm getting different results with different chassis, Usedthe chassis i got earlyafter ROTW andgot normal/expected results, used my second one with similar loadout that i got on my alt recently andhad a lot less hits on me.

Given sony's idiocy, it would not suprise me if its not a bug at all. more likely then not, they did it intentionally but didnt quite think the whole thing out. Much like the rest of the ROTW space additions.
I'm 99% sure it's bugged. Compare hitting a TIE interceptor standard to a RGI and you'll see what I mean. Using top of the line equipment it took me 5 minutes or so to kill a Tier 3 one in Kashyyyk. Any other NPC TIE/Int in the rest of the game would have been space dust after the first pass.
It seemed to show a lot of the symptoms of that one bug in beta where you'd hit the target, but it would take no damage (except from direct hits to the front and back).
yeah im very disgruntled. From ROTW BS like the JSF and RGT, to exploits they refuse to fix.. im really ticked off.

It doesn't take a hotshot pilot to bring down a Tier5 gunboat and not get hit. Hell, you could probably do it in a starter TIE as long as you pay attention to what you're doing. Just because something can't hit you does't mean the ship is bugged. I can rip up the RSS in deep space in a standard Interceptor and not take a hit. And I know several A-wing and JSF pilots who take down the ISD daily and never get a scratch.
The rumor is thatthe RGI's hit box is "bugged". I'm nto so sure that's true. I've taken hits in both PVE and PVP and have needed to CtSS more than once to save my hide. If the RGI is harder to hit than other ships then I say good. it is supposed to be "stronger and more manuverable" as per the SWG write up on it. You didn't expect the Emperor's private escort fighters to be as easy to pop as the regular TIE scrap did you?
I don't think it's a cheater ship at all. It's like people calling you a cheater when you use missiles to take them down in PVP. Pfft. Don't stay in my window long enough for me to get a lock and you won't get dusted.
in my experience its not bugged for size but for placement
sheild hit animation occurs correctly(clientside) but the explosion animations are ahead of fighter most of time leading me to believe it's not lining up properly (a lil ahead of sheild effect from lag btwn client and server responce) but is actually substantially ahead of it.

Well according to quadperson in the pilot issues thread, the RGI 's hitbox is almost exactly the same size of a JSF. In addition its well established that only a hit in the upper hemisphere of the ball will regester a hit.
This would collaborate your theory with placment.
that's just a graphic effect. if you take the time to duel a friend of yours with an IGI and level one guns it becomes apparent that the hitbox covers the scalp of the ball, no more, no less. a direct shot there causes a hit, a direct shot anywhere else near or on the IGI gets a shield deflection or you just hit air.
i don't know why explosion graphics show off the model graphic but to score a hit with lasers you absolutely need to hit the scalp of the "ball".
and again, fly a JSF in between the wings of a stationary IGI and park, you'll notice the hitbox scalp of the IGI's ball is not much smaller than the hitbox of the JSF. the entire JSF fits with room in between the IGI's wings, to call it a cheater ship also denotes the rest of the small hitbox ROTW ships as cheater ships as well, only this cheater ship has 10k less mass than other cheater ships, and 1 gun.
is the hitbox a bug? maybe. it also might be intentional. WO3 is a bug too, i'm willing to bet 99.9% of people crying "cheat" exploit that defect gladly.
Love the way you point out the hipocracy in the subject as well. Good stuff.
