well i just tested this with a friend who is a master freelance pilot and it is basicly a space pvp "iwin" button. dont know the range yet but when he hits the command every hostile player within the radius dies, just like that.

ohh and i also experianced a strange looping sound bug when i respawned. it sounded like an explosion going off every few seconds for a couple minutes. the only other time ive ever experianced this was just after than krayt unexplainably killed me in deepspace without firing.

was a nerf on epulse3 agianst npcs needed? no, i think thats total bs just like you do. is a nerf needed for pvp? yes, its bad enough that the first landed shot gets the kill, but at least in that case the person has to hit a target. right now with epulse3 all you have to do is get in range and press the button. how would you like it if there was one profession on the ground that had a skill that instantly killed every other hostile player near them?? thats basicly what this is but up in space. the only saving grace is it cant be used very often, but then agian how often do you see two hostile players in the time it takes to rechage your pilot special.

Wow. I know I'm a little late on this one, but I was doinga search and happened upon this thread.

S-1-l2-H-C buddy I hate ta call ya a liar, but the scenario you describe here is what some losers were doing before they nerfed E-pulse. Since E-pulse was nerfed there is no way what you are describing here is possible. As was mentioned earlier E-pulse 3 doesn't even come close to doing significant damage to player ships anymore let alone destroying them.

This was used as a griefing tactic long ago, and the devs have long since nerfed this skill. So now freelancers haveone master level skill that calls 2-4 tier 1 pirates to help us (lol), and another master level skill that drains all your systems for a chance at doing 25% damage to a tier 1 pirate, and that's if it doesn't just disable your ass and leave you open to all attacks (lol).

The only useful pilot skill freelance has now is IFF scramble which the rebels also have. Rebels also have in flight repairs and the shield boost thing. Imperials have bomber strike.

Call for a nerf on this all you want pal, but the skill is already useless you are wasting your time. It was more than likely just lag or someone else that jumped you from behind as you were concentrating on your target.

You were not killed by E-pulse!

You got killed, get over it and stop trying to find an excuse for why you got wasted.

A Dunelizard and an awing, can your testing be done on something with even less mass, please? Might as well throw a Scyk, a Z95and a Tie figherinto your testing group. And 200m? Do you have any idea how difficult it can be to get that close to an enemy PC in DS? I'd have to be afk for soemone to get within 1km of me in DS without me knowing it.

My take on DS/PvP: One shot kills really don't excite me. Killing someone with one shot/volley leaves me wanting for some sense of fun and almost makes me feel guilty, especially when I know they didn't see me. Getting one shot killed doesn't feel any better.

It seems to me there is a balance issue between shield/armor stats and mass versus weapon power and mass. Would love to see shields and armor get some love.

Some of it will be hard to balance out though, as a poster above pointed out, some ships weapon hardpoints allow for quite a large one-shot volley, if all weapons hit. I don't mind that though, getting hit with that much damage is one thing, but getting one-shotted by a single gun is another.

I would more enjoy encounters that took at or around 5 hits to kill/be killed. Allow the poor shmoe being shot at a chance to actually react to the attack.

Ok S-1-l2-H-C here's the thing. Now I don't mind calling you a liar, because you are continuing to try to profess something even though it has been pointed out several times by several different people that this skill has already been nerfed.

Your original response to thispost was guised as a question when all you were really trying to do was stir up a "Everyone call for a nerf to freelance" petition. As I have mentioned before this skill has already been nerfed, you are a day late and a dollar short here. You are wasting your time, and if you don't believe me, please talk to a dev about this and they will set you straight.

I'm not going to waste any more time trying to tell you that I have done the exact sort of testing you claim to have done, and I have never been able to kill anyone with my "new and improved" E-pulse skill, not even a tier 1 pirate flying a Z95. You can continue to whine about this all you want, but the fact of the matter is that it has already been "fixed". If you really want to test this then level up the freelance tree and use it yourself, then come back here and tell me it's an I win button.

My PvP experiences in space haven't been like this. While in my Decimator in Deep Space an AWing (player) came in pretty fast, we hit him a few times stripping his armour and shileds really fast. He was able to limp home I assume. He got a couple of hits on us but they were not bad at all. On the otherhand I believe if I would have got a shot off with my SpaceBomb 2 launcher he would have been toast in one shot.

Everytime I have been blasted in my Oppressor though it was multiple players against me so of course I died pretty quick. I'm still on the fence about changing this. I'm used to flying in WW2 flight sims where all combat was pvp and JTL seems about on par in comparison. If the Dev's apply the 75% reduction I wouldn't mind but I'm also not begging for it.

There is no peace, there is anger.
There is no fear, there is power.
There is no death, there is immortality.
There is no weakness, there is the Dark Side. I am the Heart of Darkness.
I know no fear, but rather I instil it in my enemies. I am the destroyer of worlds.
I know the power of the Dark Side. I am the fire of hate.
All the Universe bows before me, I pledge myself to the Darkness.
For I have found true life, in the death of the light.

I don't like the one shot kills....regardless of situational awareness......it doesn't even matter how aware you are, if you are not already facing the direction your enemy i coming from (which means you have to identify a red dot out of many red dots most of the time), then you are dead. The main reason I don't like the one shot kills is because any kind of combat that last only 2 seconds is not enjoyable no matter what side of the gun i'm on. I can kill tier 1, 2 and sometimes 3's in one shot and I absolutely hate fighting them....it's just no fun. Same goes for pvp....what use is it fighting another person when the battle is determined by who gets the first shot off....for example, I was overt hypering into kessel today (just looking to get some nice FP)...well, the very second I come out of hyperspace, the combat music is already playing.....I check the radar, see one red dot, as I immediately start to manuever....boom I'm dead (one shot). See this guy was already bearing down on me before I could even spawn in kessel....in situations like this, there is absolutely nothing you can do.....also when your in a group of red dots, you can do nothing either...it's about who see's who first.....then even if the person who takes the first shot misses.....guns shoot so fast in this game, the 2nd, 3rd or 4th shot won't miss. It will take you at least that many shots before you recognize it's a player shooting at you and not an npc.

PvP Damage should be exactly like PVE damage....no one shot kills but at the same time it shouldn't take 50 shots either......I would like if it was a nice number like 10 shots......with 10 shots, that gives both players a chance to actually participate instead of the person who gets jumped on being a target dead in the water no matter what ship they have.

Anyway, My main point is that pvp is supposed to be fun and dying in less than 2 seconds or killing your target in less than two seconds is in no way enjoyable.....that's not a dogfight, it's shooting fish in a drinking glass.....you can't lose if you attack first. I'm sorry, the way pvp is right now, a players skill, strategy, components, ship they fly or tactics does not come into play at all......the only thing that matters is getting the first shot, period.....you get the first shot and assuming your half way decent shot, then you win.....

one things for sure, I'd rather spend 5 - 10 minutes in a dogfight with a player then 2 seconds because what's even the point of going out there when you'll either be sitting at a space station repairing or waiting on the person you just killed to repair, spend all that time flying back to kessel or deep space, only to be immediately cloning in 2 seconds again.....bottom line, no group of guns should hit for more points in one shot than the highest level shields in the game......if you have 3k shields.....there should be no way one shot should take it all out.....for one thing, there is no weapon that does 100% damage to shields except EMP's.......everything else gets a significant damage reduction when hitting shields.....that's why ships have shields.

PVP just sucks dirt right now....I mean, if you take 100 rebels and 100 imps intoa massive fight....it will be over in less than 1 minute with the current damage in PVP......I"m sorry, no battle should be over that quick.

Yeah a tie advanced hitting a YT-1300 in one shot really shows the best pilot lol.

I run a Rihkxyrk with 2 4600 max damage .8 vs sheild / armor L10 weapons and the L8 Quest reward blaster REd (3800 max .7 sheild armor approx), and rather than argue that one shotting people doesnt take skill, Ill just be smug in having killed 15 or 20 people in Kessel the last few days while farming faction. They didnt know what hit em.

I must be the best pilot.
