Hello,

To be honest I didnt read all the posts. So if this has been suggested already, cool. We could go on all day about limitations for the capitol ships. And looks like we are. I LOVE TO FLY. I would love to have a capitol ship. So here is my Idea.

Make a new Tier for pilot.

Capitol Pilot

most players dont ever reach master. those that do, stop flying. With a new Tier for pilot not many will bother to get there to get one, and it they do, wont ever take it out of the hager. For those of us that trully enjoy being up there, we will have what we want without having to worry that every noob pilot is up there.

Well there it is.

If there's a badge or article of unique clothing rewarded for it, idiots will go out of their way to milk it.

Never underestimate the power of kitsch.

The idea of requiring PvP to interact with/fly/own/whateveryouwanttocallit a Capital Ship is ludicrous. MMOs need to be about variety and choices, and requiring a certain playstyle is just silly. And not having Capships for neutrals is similarly silly.

I read an interview, forget where, that was a Q&A with one of the project managers, who when asked about this offered something to the effect of "That film was put together as a demonstration of what may be possible. There are no plans currently to make this happen." or words to that effect. It struck me at the time that if they're trying to back peddle, they've come to the conclusion that these things would be terribly unbalancing, and therefore to scrap the idea.

I'd really like to see this happen, but it would have to be done in such a manner that not everyone would be flying around in one. I think they should be very difficult to obtain and certain skills which would be inconvenient for everyone to have, would be required. For example, maybe it takes a MASSIVE quest to obtain several different schematics and rare parts lootable in space. Once all the parts and schems have been found, a shipwright might have to do a certain quest just to gain access to a special crafting station that can build it. Then, perhaps only the shipwright who built the ship can deed it. Only aces can man any system on it, down to the turrets. other players should be able to ride in it, though. Actually, let's forget about ace. Make a very difficult quest that only an ace pilot can take to learn a new skill like say "capitol ship systems operation" hell, make a different skill for each system. You may have to do a difficult space quest just to learn to pilot it, then another to be able to work droid commands, then another to operate the turrets. Make it take up lots. Then, so there aren't only two or three total but still don't have too many operating at once, have a restriction on how often they can be operated. Maybe they have to undergo week long repairs at a dry dock somewhere if they are destroyed.

I have to agree with ShogunArmada. Not everybody is in a guild and of those people, not all of them might want to be in a guild. I personally like to be unguilded. Why? because it is a personal preference. I am sure others have different reason. Making capitol ships only available to guilds would be unfair to people who either are not in a guild or choose not to be in a guild.

That being said, I feel that while capitol ships should be available to all who are able to get them (either by doing a very difficult and time consuming quest or by purchasing them with faction points)there need to be limits on how many capitol ships can be in a system at once. I think that about 3 or 4 capitol ships in a system at once is enough. That would keep people from just launching capitol ship after capitol ship.

I think that a group of eight players should be needed to crew a ship. Additional players of that faction (up to 8 more) could dock with the ship if they want to help repel boarders. An interesting idea would be to have npc's aboard the capitol ships to help in repelling boarders.

First of all...I watched the video and am freaking out!! SOOOO great! The only suggestion I have is that you make sure there is something for privateers. So awesome. Totally on board for this, lol.

I do have kind of a strange idea...I think hyperspace travel should take longer..like 10 min maybe..sounds good to me. Lol ok

Careful, you wouldn't want to get "warned" like the Swordsman correspondent when HE requested repeated confirmation on why exceptional and loot-made PHes didn't convert as promised and were eclipsed by post-CURB-made ones.

Evidently he was warned for "badgering" the Developers.

Still nothing to report in regards to the quote about player-controlled capital ships just being a demo off some designer's desk, as opposed to the future of the game as we were led to believe. I'm continuing to request clarification as to where we stand, though.

Okay, it's been three weeks now without any reply. My guess, then, is the quote about player-controlled capital ships being a demo as opposed to a serious possibility should be taken for what it's worth.

You know what I find totally baffling? They have an elaborate Correspondent system, with separate forums and feedback threads and all that... and they don't have the common decency to actually talk to you guys and give answers to your questions when you ask them.

I mean, it's not like there's 250000 Correspondents so there's not enough time or resources, is it.

/sigh

You know, I can see a few reasons WHY it would be hard to do Capitols in-game right now... so much lag on most servers as of late, would be difficult to account for that many people in one area at once.

But on the flip side, if it's to difficult to step straight otan ICSD and a MonCal Star Cruiser.... start off a little lower and work your way up to it as you clear up overall lag (ie with some mad purging of the databases to delete unused toons and there old junk).

I'd say start off with Gunboats..... You have the YE5 already skined for imps, the Cast Wing for Neutrals... be nice to give the rebs a skin of there own though. I'd say the Incom t-72. Make them like 8 man boats. Pilot, Co, Gunners

Work up to Frigates...... You have the Corvette and the Nebulon B already skinned for the game and have the interior for the vette done. Add the VCSD and the Dreadnought for imps, and maybe use something like those Heavy Cruisers for the Neutrals. Make those, say a16 man crew or so with pilot, co, gunners and such.

You can use an increasingly lower turn ratio and lower speed mod for the gunboats and frigates. It'll make htem sluggish in comparrison to fighters, but they should be. Definetly would need a new lineup of parts, and they will need more and more resoruces to build them. Maybe 5x mark V cost for GB parts, and 10x for Frigate parts. But make the stats commensorate to that level of ship.

If that all goes well, then go for the ICSD and the Mon Cal.

just my 2 cents though

(oh and after doing all the pilot profs, the imps need the Defender lol. 3 weapons 1 ord, 80-85k mass lol [Spdx 1.0 Acc 40 Dec 60 Pitch 300 Yaw 300 Roll 150])
