Space PVP is not so bad, Just today I spaced out for a minute and got jumped by a guy in an agressor. My ship was telling me to eject but I still managed to kill him.
Most people dont like space pvp because unlike on the ground its not what level you are or what equipment you have(though it helps to have good equipment), in space its all about being a better pilot than the other guy.

Why drop your ground combat skills, you dont use ground skill points for space!!! They are seperate, you can be a triple master on the ground and a pilot master too.

I lost interest in the ground game when they allowed 50 million jedi to run loose in my star wars universe.
Space is where its at. As for cash, you make plenty enough to keep yourself in good equipment and then some.
Most of all you have lots and lots of fun.

I said why.. I can't stand the new combat system or the CURB. I'm going pure crafting on the ground.

I'm now 2/2/2/2 Imperial and I have been making bank. And I did the overt thing before my missions today and made 1000 FP. I think it stopped at 1000 because I checked it after a few more rebel kills and it didnt increase.
So because of piloting I have cash in the bank, sweet armor, a imperial uniform hat I can't wear (Trandosian) and an Imperial Scout Trooper to follow me around.
I LOVE Flying !!!
I think I am going to work on Master Doctor on the ground though so I can heal myself on those not so rare occasions when I bite off more than I can chew and get blown from the sky!

You might be better off grinding the meditation line of TK. Self healing and you don't have to pay for/craft anything.
