Well I am always open for advice but I really like my arc, right now using a player made engine and eo 3 I can hit an s foils closed speed of 1204, so when I finally get an re'd engine it can only get better. For me the arc is like a bigger A wing with better mass, sure you only have one gun, but you can get a really good gun in that spot and missles, not to mention when flying with a gunner it's a hell of a shock for anyone when you buzz them and your rear gunner opens up.

Player made engines are pretty marginal in PvP combat, but if you can work your way into a Type V engine, experimented only for Pitch and Yaw, you can get a fairly decent level of performance out of them.

I happen to like the look of the arc and I love the challenge, I am currently aquiring parts for my guild shipwright to re some nastyness for it. Some people fly for maximum effectiveness I fly for fun and style, the Arc and me just work.

well done... Ignore these guys... if it works for you use it. The funny part is that almost everyone on this forum will tell you to use the ship that fits your style the best but then they make comments about odd choices.

Yeah good for him... personaly I love the X-Wing, and I just don't dig the ARC, and only have ever thought of it as a 3 seater X-Wing. But if it makes you happy to fly an ARC, a TIE/ln, a B-Wing, or a POB or any other ship the powerlamers thumb there noses at fly that... and learn them a lesson or two.

Most of the PvP that I do is outside DS so I always use a crafted engine. I save the really good RE for loot/faction farming in DS. Crafted engines aren't as good as some of the RE's, but if you get an engine that fits your style it will work just as well. (ie. I usually get engines with maxed pitch and yaw with a low roll because when I do roll it is usually not critical.)

the way i see it a good engine is only useful for pvp, so im not going to hold back. its like pinching pennies your whole life and taking a few million to the grave with you, whats the point. its not like someone is going inheret your unused engine after you move on to a new game.

Do components ever truly decay or do they stop at 10 like chassis?

My best Type V's

70/70/65 YPR, 101.1 speed, around 2000 energy, 33.6k mass

70/71/64 YPR, 98 speed, also around 2000 energy, 33.6k mass

They're about 33% heavier than a QID, but very nice if you can squeeze an arrangement around them.

I took the QID out of my Advanced X-Wing last night, because the maneuverability gain isn't effective in PvE, so I put in a 63/64/60 YPR, 119 speed Type V in it, and I'm very satisfied with the PvE results.

not too bad for pvp either. if you are fast enough you can force a head on jousting match, something the adv-x excells at.

I can run her up to nearly 1500 with the foils open, its not out of the question, but the maneuvering, even at EO4, is horrible at top speed.

no need to manuver, slow down a bit when you are just about in range for the head on pass, but then hit the booster to get out of weapons range agian.
