Thread: I think some of you are missing the point of the MP ships...

Facts are facts. Though I may consider myself to be one of the top 5 pilots on Ahazi in no way does that matter in regards to how useful POB ships can be.

Currently, POB ships can be extremely useful and quite fun if you are open to it.

First off, be sure that you start collecting your loot. We all know that re-engineered components are far superior to anything player crafted. I will be reffering to my Decimator as I am currently in the middle of finishing ACe #3 Smugglers Alliance.

The Decimator load-out I was using had some major bonuses. A reactor hitting at around 25k generation, shields at over 3000 front/back, capacitor with regen at 54%, Droid interface at 9.0, massive armour front and back well into the 3k's, and of course.. lets not forget those 2 re-level 10 blasters punching holes in ships for over 4700 damage. Pile on top of that your usual droid programs.. Weap OL3, Engine OL3, Reactor OL3, Cap OL3, Shield strengthen front/back 3 and cap to shield shunt 3.

This thing was a beast! There's no ship except a POB that could handle the mass of these components. Plus the bonus is that your crew can go repair just about anything that gets hit. I kept crates of repair tools all over the ship just to be sure we had plenty of internal support.

Now, how about flying that thing? Well, it's not a fighter! If you go jinking and rolling and cruising at top speed any decent pilot in a TIE intercepter would blow your carcass to the four winds. It's not a fighter, it's a gunship. Slow and steady wins the race! Load up your launchers with SpaceBomb 2's (thats 12 SB2's in a Deci/Nova or 8 in a YT1300).

Most important, beyond the gear, beyond your "skills" as a pilot. It's your crew and your communication with them. If you launch and plan on going into combat... everyone better be buffed, I suggest armour as well. Fire will make your day turn from good to bad in seconds. You need a doc on board, should be obvious why. I kept crates of fireblankets as well!

Everyone should know where the repair terminals are, they should know how to avoid getting burned to death and they should be preparred for the inevetiable.

Ok, now what do you do with a POB ship? Well... as I said earlier. There's the generic "Lets go to Deep Space!" or my personal favorite "Lets go help So and So finish his tier 3-4 missions". I think it's a blast to go run some of these escort missions in a POB. Not too mention you're not as stressed about PvP.

Speaking of PvP, currently we all know it's a bit broken right? Well, in my Deci I could with stand 2 passes from an awing before things would pop. I can't fathom why someone would try to take a POB into PvP without fighter escort, thats just suicidal. As well it should be. I'd be really surprised if any gunner out there could get a piece of me if I were using Boom and Zoom tactics on you. Lets see.. my max speed 1207 coming at you in a spiral while firing everything I have in your direction..... pretty obvious why you need an escort.

So, POB ships can be armed to the teeth with the best gear in the game, you can find plenty to do for you and up to 8 friends, but if you plan on hitting Deep Space you better bring an escort or you'll just end up on my kill list.

I agree. Guys, take it to PMs, ok? This was a good thread.

i don't this was ever a good thread, the premise that POBs don't need upgrading is absurd. but fine. i've edited my responses.

The thread as a whole was good. Not the original poster's idea. I totally think they need to upgrade MP ships. TOTALLY.

Um, not to spoil your fun. But a turret gunner can shunt the shields from his seat. It is a pain however yelling at them to shunt the shields when your almost dead. They are always way to slow on the draw.

Yeap, gunners are too busy trying to kill stuff to pay attention to the shields, and if they are zoomed out they might even miss the alarms going off. I feel lucky, I have a friend who seems to enjoy being operations - he's good at running through the start-up routine (and RPs it too ), knows when to fire off shield shunt and is good at it, and has added using /who regularly to his duties while we run in Deep Space to warn us of other players.
