Ok........
Rewards:
- Rebel:
Novice: stupid orange flight suit w/ no helmet
Ace: Leather flight jacket, F16 figher helmet (i htink it looks cool)
- Imperial:
Novice: Complete Flightsuit w/ helmet. Most incharacter flight suit you can wear.
Ace: Awesome jacket, and a questionable ace helmet. (I wear the jacket with a command hat, looks sharp)
As an imp pilot, i have no complaints.
As a rebel pilot, i want my freaking novice flight helmet!
Ships:
My only complaints about imp ships:
1.) first 3 ships are supersets of the previous. All of which become obsolete and unused. Rebels meanwhile, all their ships remain useful.
2.) T/I, my favorite, becomes obsolete for PvE to early. (awesome in pvp though)
3.) No ship that is efficent at solo mining like the B wing.
Missions:
Rebels have:
- Faction farm Teir 4 destroy that spawns ties in YAVIN 4.
- BS duty mission (which conicdently has the highest cash payout of any destroy mission i can think of)
Imperials have....
*insert cricket noise here*
Bomberstrike:
Puuulllleaaaaseee.
I can count the number of times ive used this on 1 finger for the last month.
Its overrated, rarely used, and not really needed.
That said its damn cool for making you feel like your in the imperial navy, and I will admit it's more useful then inspace repair and reload.

Probably less than were on Alderaan. 1 3/4 "small moons" < a planet.

Mind adding droid programs, payouts on missions, not having to deal with tough-to-build astromechs, THE FREAKING ACTIS, being forced to either build / buy a heavy Z or fly the y-wing, and having only crap pilot commands to your list?
Imps have it easy. Really easy. I've been breezing through their missions recently.

Improvise, overcome, adapt.
Dare I ask how long you've been flying? Because if you were here back when our best ship only had 65k of mass (66k if we paid extra and had a good SW with great resources), maybe I'd be more receptive.

The focus of this thread was originally why imps get screwed. I disagree with some of the original post and replied to various points i saw in this thread.
Baring ROTW ships, imps do not have it easy due to low mass restrictions on ships. I remember when rebel pilots would "petition for a mass increase on the Xwing". Meanwhile i've working with a 65K mass chassis and making it work, and work VERY well. Its very hard to not laugh and be cynical, espeicaly having done rebel pilot 4 times myself.

Point taken on the TIE Adv. having little mass.
Regardless, though, its tiny mass isn't / wasn'tthat big of a negative, and compares favorably to the A-wing's single gun.
As it is, I'm wasting mass as often as I can, throwing a 6k mass DI and 20k+ in armor into the ship, along with a proton torpedo launcher. This is crap that a: I don't need, and b: doesn't REALLY help except for making me laugh every time I see that little bloo dot go smack a disabled ship.
On the current RoTW build, you've completely forgotten to mention the Heavy X-wing, which is probably the most overpowered ship in the game. Mass of a B-wing with huge piles of gunz. I'm able to put two cert 9 crafted blasters and a cert 7 crafted / 8 RE'd into the thing if I forego armor. This clears a crowd. Twice.

tough to build astromechs? you are kidding right? They are not as easy to build as a flight comp, but are in no way "tough" to build. And yes,I am a DE.
As for newbie ships, gimme a break, for PvE the rebs and freelance have it so easy, all the mass you could ever need, hell the imps do not even get a second gun mount until tier 4.
You did get screwed on the droid programs, I'll give you that.
As for breezing through, it is tough NOT to breeze through any of these missions with the heavies around.

Have you ever had someone order an astromech and then give it to them within ten minutes?
How much did it cost them?
Have you FLOWN a y-wing? 2/3ds of the pilots I talk to used tosay either a: I hate the y-wing, sell me a z-95 or b: meh, dropped reb 'cause the y-wing was too annoying to fly.
There comes a point around Tier 3 where one gun no longer cuts the mustard so well. Rebels are forced to move to the Y-wing LP to get that extra firepower, and get In Space Repair. Imps get bomber strike I and Weapon Overload 3. If you like fast, agile ships, the imp side is the way to go. Or at least was, until all the heavies came along. At that point I say droids and proggies are the advantage.
This whole game is biased towards the imps. It's easier to play one on many levels. That's alright. It's supposed to be that way. Just don't run around whining about how much more difficult it is to play the game on the easy side.

well FriedSquid like i said, this was orginally an imp pilot complaint thread. So rebel issues i didnt get into.
>>Regardless, though, its tiny mass isn't / wasn't that big of a negative
Once you learn the game more intimatley, no its not. Its more of a minor annoyance then anything. The thing is, it used to take being an imp pilot to learn this intimacy with parts becuse you were FORCED to. Rebels never had to deal with low mass until they try the Awing, and after flying Y wings and Xwings, the typical reb pilot response to 65K mass, is, " W T F?! "
On that note, 65K mass is acutally alot for a Tie, excepting the oppressor. (the heavy tie is a freaking joke, you gotta be kidding me). Ive gone to deepspace in 40K mass chassis and was sucessful. My perfered PvP ship is 50K mass. Being an imp pilot teaches you to make these adaptations, and most of the time you only have ONE gun. Not two or three. Thats what makes it harder.

Please clarify this blanket statement you just made. I"d LOVE to see where you get the idea that this game is geared towards imps.

I've flown a Y-wing. They're not that bad. Certainly more workable than a TIE Bomber. Granted, I like my Heavy Z95 more, but Y-wings could be a lot worse. The fact that they get a two-person ship at Tier 1 (rather than Tier 4) is nice for Rebels. Means you can actually fly in the same ship as your friend from an earlier stage. I can't recall how many times my friends would ask me "When do you get your two-person ship?" Issues with having friends in several different factions. Sure, the Y-wing could be better, but it is hardly the slug that the Bomber is.
