Thread: Privateer ships in PvP

If I was to loadout a PvP ship and a PvE ship, I'd prolly set up my JSF in a PvP role. As is, I prefer having my Bel-22 in a multi-purpose role as I don't care if the chasis gets trashed. Before you think I'm on the JSF/Bel-22 = space composite kick, understand that I did the same thing with my Dunelizard that I am doing with my Bel. I get almost 5k more mass, better handling, and a smaller hitbox... hard to pass that up, given the lack of Freelance alternatives (as mentioned).

Hey, as long as you're digging up screenshots, you still got that one with the Imperial Guard Interceptor next to a regular Interceptor (think they're in front of an ISD)? The one that shows their hitbox difference so well? I need it to help ask what's up with the RGI.

So you did go out and fly with Adellea, Rapax? /shudder. I'm glad I wasn't out in DS for that one. I'm going to stay Rebel for the time being but eventually I will try a Vaksai even if it is only for a month or somthing. I'll probably make it my next experiment after my Standard X-wing.

I must admit though, that Freelancers pre-rotw weren't too competitive. The worse they could ever do was the Duney and yeh I saw good pilots with them, but they didn't ever last very long vs. A-wings and T/As. Also, the Krayt. The most deadly I've seen them was when the pilot was carrying a gunner but even so...they'd get ganked in no time at all and the gunner would still miss most of the time.

Now that I think about it, I think Tomo might have been correct in another thread...for Freelance, using only JTL ships, the Firespray might actually be the best choice among bad choices...

Not to knock anyone (like Leaph) who have done amazing things with JTL small fighters, but I think the thing that would impress me the most is if someone was able to make a Kiraxh competitive in PvP...problem is, you're basically looking at outfitting a larger, more responsive Tie/In

I really wish they'd boost the Kiraxh to a mass closer to the A-wing, but with the Vaksai, there really is no need.

I would say use the vaksai or the scyk... in that order. The vaksai has a huge rear end (bigger than the xwing) but it has plenty of mass to compensate. the heavy scyk is a pretty big target still and has less mass to help it out but it does have a really thin profile.

I PvP in my Krayt all the time. I don't go for tight loop battle thing though...just boost out of range (takes 3 to 4 seconds to get out of effective gun range) and go head to head and hit on the deflection shot when the other guys twitches. Yes it's a big target but only if you get into a circling battle with it. The laser shots will seem larger to an opponent when you go head to head.
After you got their engine down to 5% or so...use epulse and say you had to save the laser energy for some one else (this one of for leaph since he seems to hate it soo much...heh).

The Vaksai is another monster. The lack of a second gun port is kinda disappointing but it allows you to put in a honking engine, sheilds and gun. I beleive this ship will become the PvP ship of choice when they fix WO3 as basically you'll still be able to use it with out modifiying much of the load out to fit the new energy profile.

All neutral ships are big fat targets, the best way to load them out is for jousting matches.
