Thread: What do you think of your Cockpit frame?

I actually like the cockpit frame for my TIE fighters and my Decimator. The TIE does a good job of letting me see where I'm shooting, and I rely on the radar to tell me where my enemies are.

In my Firespray? Not so much. I can't see where my second, non-converging gun is shooting in that view, so I turn it off. Although, it does look much nicer than the TIE view.

I'm a 3rd-person perspective pilot also. It just makes more sense to me--I play 3rd person on the ground game, so why be any different in space? Plus the visibility can't be beat!

Kazmo, you like the Rhik and hate the kimo/kryat? Granted the hutt styles have the two verticle struts, but at least you can see from top to bottom of the screen, whereas the Rihk cockpit view takes up more than 50% of the entire screen.

I finally turned off my cockpit view as its impossible to use effectively. The targetting reticle is sitting right on the dash essentially so you only have half a screen to work with which is crazy. They need to adjust the screen to show less cockpit and more screen as the current setup is pointless.

I hear what yer sayin, but I put it all the way at the bottom of my screen and just use the target retical that it gives ya. rarely ever missed and for some reason seemed to handle better. mabe less lag. pluss with that long bit of ship out in front of ya, kinda feels like a sports car

I would use the frame if it didnt consume 60% of the screen on Tie's. Frame is actually much much better right before you enter hyperspace.

Tie Oppressor got super cockpit!

Anyone have pics of the inside of some of the imp craft, I know most of the basic TIEs are around the same like the interceptor, TIE and the advance. But are the consol layouts different, are they laid out better in the later craft?

I recently rode in a Decimator.....Shhh, it is nie inside. The imperial stuff seems a bit cold and uncomfortable. Weras the inside of the YT and the nova look a bit softer and homely. Typical imperial craftsmanship, no nonsense fluff, just stuff to kill more efficiently

It is a beautiful view, but I'm pretty much forced to use the third-person view. You just can't see out the left side.

As for overall look, I think the Decimator has the best cockpit. But this ship is somewhat in it's own class compared to the fighters.

Among the fighters, the B-wing is my absolute favourite. Kinda like sitting in a basket with windows. There is also something special with the X-wing, might be childhood nostalgia, or it might be that it's damn cool to be able to look behind you, and see your trusty droid, peer to your sides when the S-foils open, etc...

I wish the cockpits were more than eyecandy though. Actual working gauges, screens and such would be lovely. If I got my will through, I'd turn off everything but the targeting reticle and radar on the hud. It really distracts from the overall immersion. (same thing in the ground game. Run around with the hud off for a bit, it will feel ALOT more like Star Wars for some reason....)

I love the A-wing cockpit, good visibility and feels like driving a sports car.
