Thread: Best PvP Pilots on your server?

I've only fought Imps and Neutrals, but there aren't any good PvP pilots on Tarquinas (myself included)
Here's a good test:
Will the bandit try to turn with you regardless of his velocity? I've lost count of how many people I've seen trying to turn their RGTI, JSF, Tie Advanced, etc. to keep up with an X-Wing spinning in circles at 0.55 throttle. The same holds true of A-Wing pilots chasing Oppressors, Krayts and Aggressors. Ofcourse they lose. If they'd simply keep their velocity up and use rapid course corrections to throw off the enemy's aim, they'd win more often.
A few more examples:
Rebels don't use missiles when they should. Tie Oppressor pilots don't, either. Pilots on my server actually try to go head-to-head against a Heavy X, B-Wing or Krayt while flying light/medium fighters. Heavy fighters often get caught trying to chase light fighters at max velocity. People also wouldn't know countermeasures if it leapt up and bit them on the posterior. Section leaders don't protect wingmen. Wingmen don't protect section leaders... It just goes on and on and on.
Then we have people who claim that they're God's gift to space PvP on Tarquinas. Frankly, I've seen them fight and they're a far cry from what a decent pilot should be.
sounds like Bria.
Oh I forgot. Bo-Rai Cho was also getting good on Bria just before I left. In fact..there are a few more too.
Coran, are you still coming to Starsider? Or thinking about it?

But i do love being a smuggler, i can change factions at will. Only downside is ill be limited to "not so optimal" ships for PvP unless i start a JSF/B22. I am considering specalizing in a vaskai despite its profile. But meh, i need a good ass kicking anyway. Im long overdue.
A Vaksai can be a rude awakening to even the best JSF/B-22s. Pop a mid 80s YPR 100ish speed L10 Engine in there and you're guaranteed some amusing moments.

Yanus and Afra as far as I know

Hmm far from it m8, as for Afra, I've never seen them in DS
.
On our server I'd say we have (Imps)Totuss (if he comes back), Zoni, Ul'rak, Keyle, Buxxe, Vagolerio (if he comes back) Ulixes (if he come back). There are a few imps learning the their trade, so hopefully, we will have a few more soon. As rebs we have Me, Trimos, Safin, Eme, Emili, Shiyane, Parhee, Mich, Cuchulainn, Casum, Kr'am, Gbrain when he remasters Reb and Reeno when he masters reb. As you can see, the imps are pretty lacking in numbers. there are a few more people, but they dont appear often enough to warrent counting them as PvPers.
Well last night was more than interesting.
Li,Bendo,Halyn,Dashka,Joken and myself were bored in Deepspace so decided to have a split team dueling match.
It was Halyn, Joken and Dashka vs. Myself, Bendo and Li and the rule was..no missiles. Just gunfighting only and with Two Actis and a B-wing (Halyn's side) vs Two A-wings and a Heavy X-wing (my side) it was 'fairly' balanced I'd say. Two small manouverable fighters each side plus a 'tank' ship too.
We eventually got underway and first to go from their side [I didnt catch which of my guys went first] was Dashka. Before he went though..he clipped my A-wing with a shot. I have -no- idea how I survived that. An A-wing packing a shield of about 1800hitpoints clipped by a B-wings blasters should have wasted me in one. My only guess is that I was hit with the minimum damage of a single gun or somthing because I kept flying...
Anyway, he went down eventually and I got to say he is the best B-winger I've seen -ever- and I've seen a few.
So, the next thing I know is that I've got Halyn and Joken gunning for me (not a nice scenario trust me. I know how the imps feel now) and I make a hit on one of them. I'm not sure which because I wasn't so much aiming as taking potshots and trying to survive.
I'm not 100% sure when or what order these two events happened but I took one shot from the front and another from behind and -still- lived. Hell, I should have been dead by all rights. 'Somthing' was smiling upon my ship in that battle. I lost most of my armour but anyway, I didn't get hit after that and slowly, feeling some confidence coming back to me (hell, I'd survived three accountable hits so I was damned if I was going to pass up this opportunity now) and eventually, hit Halyn enough to kill his weapons. I don't knwo why, but at this time, Joken on the group indicator list said he was out of range. I don't think he was, but it made me chase Halyn a little more anyway.
So then it was just me and Joken with Halyn flying around (which I didn't actually realise he was still mobile until the end) and this is when lesson no. 12982982 in the Leaph experience book got written.
Now I had opportunity to solely concentrate on one target and I admit, I fly better in these circumstances. One vs. One is a healthy situation for an A-wing which technically should benothing short of spacedust right now. So I start flying more aggressively and I find that Joken, with no doubt about it, is the finest evasive pilot I have ever seen. His fighter was 'bouncing' around everywhere and I could hardly keep him on screen for more than two seconds at some points. It must be the extreme r,p,y acceleration of the JSF he is making excellent use of. We basically were spinning around each other for ages. I can't really get a grasp on how long it was but eventually, I scored damage [total luck shot] and brought him to a standstill. After finishing him off, I found Halyn was actually still very much alive but weaponless and I took a while to silence him.
Erm. Gobsmacked is all I can say. I shouldn't have survived that.If missiles had have been legal, I would have flown a lot more evasively and in a more paranoid state. I know full well that during that battle people must have achieved some fairly easy locks on me but it wasn't as if I was flying to avoid them. If they had have been legal though, I probably would have been out of the game a lot quicker.
Even now, I'm still trying to work out just how I took three hits. The first one.. I was very lucky. I don't know how a B-wing scored a hit on a dancing A-wing but it happened..says somthing for Dashka's amazing aim. I'm not totaly sure. I need some reminding here but as I remember it, I took three shots. One from behind and two from the front. I thought shield front adjust saved me at some point, but I remember only activating that after I started concentrating on Joken and I didn't get hit after that point so I must have just been very lucky.
I'm puttng that victory down to 95% luck and 5% personal piloting prowess. I don't even count it as a 'win' on my part. I got hit three times. Far more than I should be allowing an A-wing to get hit but at least I learned somthing and that is, these Starsider people are deserving to be held with such high esteem within the piloting community.
Everyone who took part in that skirmish is deserving to be on Pace's list of top pilots however, without stealing away from anybody else's glory, I personally think Joken got 'pilot of the match' for that particular scenario simply because I was nearly paralysed with admiration for the guys evasive flying. He made my A-wing feel like a Y-wing.

Heh...Leaph? When you nailed me I lost my reactor. I vrepaired three times trying to get enough juice to get my weapons back up and running, but no such luck. I was hoping I could get them up and nail you when you were trying to hit Joken. But...such is luck.
Ahah! Ok...I thought it was odd that you were still moving considering that the other time I got you it took one shot. Crikey...you're a craftey one
. Thats my usual tactic though. I have 3.8k damage coming from one weapon mount so I'm not going to be one-shotting people often so my tactic in scenarios such as that one is..disable them or knock out their weapons and move on to the next, then at the end when everyone has been 'pacified' I'll go around finishing them off unless they've ejected. Was it you or Joken or hit me? Or did all three of you get a shot off on me?
All I know I'm surprised at for sure was, last time you hit me, I indeed got one-shotted myself so luck was definitly on my side if you scored a hit. I'm not sure of Joken's weapon loadout but I'm guessing if he got a shot on me, I should have been one-shotted too.
One thing is for sure. I won't be counting on being that lucky again.

I'd list Rapax, but I think he only posts to forums talking about being on Valcyn.

Not crafty, just stubborn.
Oh by the way, have I proven that A-wings aren't out of the competition yet?

I know you're using a re'd boltdriver as your most powerful weapon and I know my A-wing can take a hit from one of those and remain functional so it must have been a very very 'grazing' shot along with the other. I'm sure a full on 'right on the button' shot would waste me though since you have a lvl 6 re'd cannon along with the Boltdriver.
