Is it ok for software companies to charge you money for poor code that does not work and then have them fix it later? Is it ok for people to pay 30 bucks for JTL plus their 15 per month and not be able to progress in a chosen profession because of poor coding? More and more software companies are releasing unfinished code and making this SOP (rollercoaster tycoon 3 is a perfect example), because you the paying customer are not complaining about it.

Do you know why companys are releasing late beta stuff for people like you to complain about though? Because if they didnt you would be complaining right now that they missed thier target release date again. either way coustomers complain. They always will. take it from someone who works in retail.
Now, if you want to try your hand at doing better then do it. learn to program, make a game that is as complex as SWG, EQ, WoW, or anything thats out there right now. then come back and complain if you want to.

No info? Odd... I see posts weekly (or more often) from red names about what is being worked on.

No communication? Hmmm.... must have made up that HUGE thread that Tiggs has about the broken missions... silly me.

JTL has become ground game.... not even touching this one beyond saying that there is no such thing as JTL or AED, there is SWG and it is ONE game. The more they reflect each other the better... oh wait... you're of the school of thought that the ground game is terrible and broken and "suxXx0rs" it seems... people of that school of thought seem to never be satisfied with anything that happens so...

I think you are wanting problems to exist that don't.

Well, bub, there is no point in me getting two characters as there is more than enough content to satisfy my one character. When was the last time a free form RPG needed a story arc to make it interesting? Oh that's right... never. I laugh at your lack of contet statement still. Look around, I am in the majority of people that are more than happy with the way things are going now. There are no epic space battles? Organize one for control of Deep Space like I am preparing to do. You want content join a guild (if you aren't in one) and go to "war" with another that will take it to the stars... only that won't work will it because you'd die too fast and that would make it a challenge. Don't get me wrong I'm very vocal about getting the Dev team to rework the way space PvP works. But honestly, bub, you don't care to look for conent; to create your own. You just seem like one of those people who just like to complain.

I've never understood this attitude - to me, this is the equivalent of hiring an electrician to rewire your house and install new outlets, new lights, add some conduit, etc, and when you complain that half the outlets don't have power, 25% of the lights don't work, and that new conduit you wanted isn't really installed, the electrician says "go out there and get trained as an electrician before you complain about my workmanship."
This is about the end quality of the product, pure and simple. When I buy something off of the shelf, I expect it work well right out of the box. I should have to wait for month before the manufacturer gets around to fixing the item in question, even though it was released to market. Think about the smuggler profession - 18 months its been all but ignored, yet it was included in the game from the first day of release.

Your compairing totaly dissimmilar things here man. The flow of electrons on a large scale is easy. try writing hundreds uppon hundreds of lines of code that change states of thousands of switches constantly. I dont program any more myself. Last time I programed it was for the Apple II series of computers. Programing has become more complex sence then. I know I cant write a program with any complexity in BASIC and have it work the first time exactly right.
Now for expecting this to work right 100% off the shelf, have you ever looked at the lists of recal notices in products? you realy should some time. you'll probaly find that about 1/2 the stuff in your house right now has been noted as something that you need to be carefull with, or has been recalled to the manufacturer for various reasons. The highest recalled catigory of product is baby products. (i.e. furniture, playpins, toys, seats, ect)
Humans are not perfect. Nore should they be expected to be. That would take all the fun out of life.

Well if you look at the SWG web page you will see a link to the studio update. Thier they say that they have hired and expanded thier dev teams. Also in the end of year statatement:

What are some other goals for next year?

  • Add more directed content in the game that enhances our Star Wars experience.
  • Make the gameplay experience well paced and rewarding throughout advancement
  • Help players understand goals and have directed experiences to achieve those goals
  • Concentrating on more bug fixing
  • We want to make combat faster, exciting, and rewarding.
  • Work on improving all the non-combat professions.

The work I've seen so far shows that the team is focusing on the fun factor of combat and content. You will see us pick on the pace next year and provide rapid changes to the game. We look to you for your feedback while we continually improve the game. Have a safe and happy holiday.

It sounds as if they are concentrating all thier efforts into the cobat revamp right now. I wonder if it affects space combat? Then thay will get to the rest.
