I'd LOVE to know where you pulled that from, because no one really knows what the new buffs will be. We're told they'll give a reason for people to visit us, but other than that there is ZERO details. Making up details on buffs that aren't even in Test yet is just rumor mongering. Stop.

Ahh, so we should not get wounds at all? Ok, and lets just say we never clone then either, 10-60 second incap is fine. No ramifications at all, ok. so what is the point then?

Cloning/Death is necessary to prevent exploitation of a moreforgiving system. Death should smart, but it shouldn't be something that sets you back so far it hampers your experience of the game for a considerable amount of time. The fact that you have to respawn at a cloning center, which is potentially several thousand kilometers from where you are (or lets say you're ina dungeon, then it's even worse) serves as a rather great deterence to dying, since you'll loose considerable time and progress simply trying to get back to where you were. This opens the door for exploiting via death to get back to civilization, but insurance/item decay serves as a deterence for that.

And while a bit of a different topic, I also might add that there is a need for a shuttle pick-up rapid-transit device to return you to civilization hubs, as this would further rectify any need to suicide to return home, and it would vastly streamline exploration/dungeon crawling (ie, you can feel free to adventure without worrying about the time it will take to get back to the starport before you must log out).

Umm, they have taken out getting wounds when you die in space. How is this a problem. Hell, it was a badge of honour in the old days to have blacked out health bars!
So now, when you die in space, it will have no effect on you! Boy, I really want to meet the guy who comes up with SOEs SWG ideas, then shoot him, a lot!

Hey if you find him give me a shout, I'll help you out for sure.

I do not know where He got his information but I have seen a few focus threeds in the SW and a few other boards regarding what they would like to see in buffs from entertainers. These threads had been started by the Corospondents so I would assume the Devs asked them to see what people would like to see in buffs from entertainers.

Yeah, I know, but that's not the same thing as a confirmed red name post, a patch to TC with new buffs, or any other outlet of information. It's just them making busywork for the corrs, and putting up smoke and mirrors for us. The chances of the Devs polling for ideas from the playerbase that they'd actually listen to and implement, are about as great as them fixing big game breaking bugs before a patch goes to Live.

Yeah, look at the vet reward suggestion thread. Was up for months now, and they didn't take our ideas from it. =(

I agree, Entertainers also. The removal of most sources of wounds, and the total removal of Battle Fatigue is just another example of the dumbing down of the game. There's a very good reason they don't have any sort of Medic Quest in the new player experience...

I agree, but I have to wonder WHY?? Isn't this a bizarre sort of change??

Let's explore, shall we?

1. The CU is installed, enacting huge changes in the way that the ground game is played. We're told that this is the beginning of making combat more intense, demanding and immediate. (For me, I actually think that most of this was a good thing.) However, a side effect is that Doctors have become extremely scarce, to the extent that it's very difficult to find any ANYWHERE to heal your wounds.

To that end, during my last (token) respec, I used up skillpoints and xp to get Novice Doc. I have to say, it's extremely difficult to gain much XP in that profession (I'm still only at 1100 Doc), creating an even larger frustration factor for wannabe Doctors. last side effect is that Doctors become even more scarce now than two weeks after the CU, as no new Doctors are gaining this profession.

2. ROTW is released, adding quite a bit of new content, but again, changing the gameplay dynamics that many of us take for granted. Instead of total freedom of movement accross the planet, we are limited to "trails" on Kashyyyk and "instanced" dungeons. Altogether, not game-breaking, some of this actually DOES make for a better experience, while some does not. (At least in my opinion - I like the instanced dungeons, but I dislike the whole "trail" idea, forcing me down certain paths.)

3. With the advent of ROTW, we see a new class of starship, some refer to as "uber-ships"; The RG TIE, JSF, Bel-22, Heavy Variants. These (for the most part) render obsolete the original JTL ships. (Sure, there are exceptions, A wing for example) This again, distinctly changes the dynamic in space, slightly shifting the balance in favor of the Empire. Of course, pilots CAN switch factions to get the RG TIE, the JSF, and likewise Imperials can switch faction to get the ARC, etc, but not that many actually do.

4. Wounds from space death are taken out. Aside from removing the need for doctors to heal Pilots, I can't see the full ramifications yet.

5. Battle Fatigue is removed from the game. Which begs the question: Why would we go to cantinas? What are entertainers going to do? They are left with an inspiration buff of 10%, which frankly, I never bother with, as I'm maxed out for XP in both of my main professions; Rifleman and Pilot, and as a Doc, I can only earn xp in the field by healing someone that is actually IN combat at the time. (Which, by the way, causes any mobs in the area to immediately target ME, rendering me useless to the group, as I then spend more time healing MYSELF instead of my groupmates.

Conclusion/Thesis:
WHERE is all of this leading? My theory is that slowly, you will see non-essential professions faded out, I offer up for example, Smuggler, Ranger... I think that there will be more, but look at them:

Smugglers: OK, they can slice weapons, make drugs and trade faction points around. But what exactly does that have to do with Smuggling?

Rangers: They can make a camp, and uhhh, track things, no, they don't really track things do they?

For that matter, as far as the GCW, what use are Riflemen? I use my Cyber arm to take down turrets... that's about it.

Anyway, back to the subject, where is this going? I invite your speculation.

I got WTFpwned by a Jedi on a mission yesterday and had to prevail myself upon his honor for a heal. I knew there was no way I'd find a Doctor to help.

That clinches it, I'm making my alt a Doctor/Musician. I for one am glad to not take wounds from space death anymore.

5 minute penalty? Hell, pre CU it would never have taken 5 min to get wounds healed, plenty of docs around back then. Again, I think this is misplaced, but you are free to disagree.

Alyxian hun, look at his graphic. It says it all. Theres no point in argueing with people like that. 'Time sink' as in something that made him spend time playing a game and intterfered with him becoming teh ub3r l33t j33d41 4 teh w1n lol pwnzors !!111!!!!11!. Bet he's glad no more BF too.

Thats the kind of player that has and is killing our game. lets hope that someday they will all 'win' and then those of us who wanted to actually play Star Wars can get the game changed back to that, instead of this cater to the whining powergamer poodoo that keeps being heaped on us.

I agree, the problem with this didn't come from wounds in space. It started with nerfing the doctor/medic/combat medic profs. After the CU noone wanted to be a medic anymore so that makes them harder find. therefore, it takes a long time to get your wounds healed. (yes I am being a bit condecending)

I use to love being a combat medic but now there is no point. I respec'd to doc just so that I can heal while I am out with the guild. If I didn't do that, there is no way I would waste the skill points on it.
