Im a space Jedi, and I'd suppose for my server Im a fairly good pilot. I for one would not want Jedi overt and hunted in space, because thats just stupid. Two shots, -500k xp is lame for the Jedi and the BH. I go to space to NOT have to worry about being hunted. I dont want force bonuses for space flight, that would completely ruin JtL for me. I suspect if they put in this Jedi starfighter, it WILL be Jedi only, and will have performance similar to a TIE most likely. I very much doubt they would give this ship performance bonuses over other chassis, as the Devs stated a long time ago that force powers have no place in space.
I'm glad to see a jedi who agrees with the general consensus. I think you're right on about keeping sapce and ground BH/jedi separate as long as jedi receive no 'force' bonus in space. Once the devs cross that line, jedi should be free game and be hunted anywhere they decide to play, be it ground, space, or inside their houses and guild halls.

If a ship cert is somehow granted to another profession than one of the 9 pilot professions, I will hunt it down in every instance I can. I do not mind ground skills being required to use specialized equipment on a ship (mining, secret compartments), but I bought JtL for the chance to fly any ship they decide to throw at us. I will be hugely dissatisfied if there is a ship out there that I cannot earn the right to fly except by major alteration of my character and mammoth investment in the ground game.
Again, until it's verified from an official source, I am patiently waiting, but my feelings won't change. Even as a CURB alpha tester (soon to be CURB/Expansion tester), I will refuse to test it if its a Jedi only ship.

I'm in full agreement. I don't want to see Jedi only spaceships in space. JTL was meant to be a way for anyone, no matter what jobs they have on the ground, to be able to do what they want in space.

Asteroid mining, jedi starfighter, new planet, cybernetic implants, free download. Sounds way to good to be true, april fools coming up? Or previewer going crazy over a couple of remarks of what they would like to do, but not sure if they'll get it all in. I hope it's true and I hope SOE pulls it off but I'm not holding my breath over this.
free download is only the CURB
for everything else you pay
at least thats how i read it
From the article...
"That same month, players of Star Wars Galaxies will be able to download a massive expansion pack that adds some of the content from the movie to the popular online roleplaying world. "
Download = free. I HIGHLY doubt that they are going to charge for a download. I see this as the reason why there hasnt been a content update in six months or so.

"some" content from the movie.
I read that as the same sorts of essentials everyone was given when JtL launched. Graphics for clothes, weapons, cybernetics, whatever they havent given us already. Stuff that will show up on any world. I don't think everyone will be able to go to Kashyyyk on Patch day unless they buy an expansion though.
Care to take bets?

Ummm...JtL is barely out four months. They've added new ships since then, new space quests and tons of new ground loot. Your desire for more is making your vision of what you have blurry.

Well, honestly folks. I could care less if trhis new starfighter is Jedi only. I'll get into that in a sec though.
Some concerns, first off who gets the cert? Reb/Imp Jedi? Well.. what would make sense (god forbid) Rebel Ace Jedi should get the Jedi Starfighter Cert, Imperial Ace Jedi's should get the Sith infiltrator, Nuetrals should get an equal stated fighter added to their Ace as well.
In addition, my guess is that the new mining vessels are the YT-2400. Probably be cross factioned. I still want to see the Rebels get the transports from Empire Strikes Back, and Imp's need the Lambda. But whatever..
Ok, so as far as Jedi getting something we don't... who cares. Here's the deal, unless they get some kind of god like shield powers they're dead just like everyone else. Ok, here's my point of view on this. I know how good of a pilot I am. Even if the other player is given some slight advantage over me PvP is still one shot one kill. If they are relying on some magic powers to save them it better be a teleport button or super-duper shields.. but guess what, that only saves them from my first strike, then all I have to do is roll in on em and hit em again.
Point is, you can give anyone the best ship in the galaxy, that doesn't make them a good pilot at all. So I say bring it.
I do not support in any way shape or form any player being given an unfair advantage in space combat for any reason at all. The best part about JTL is we are all pretty much open equal footing, as long as they don't throw that balance off they can give Chef's their own cantenna ship for all I care.

I would be super excited to be able to go to Kashyyk, being wookiee and all. And new ships, new missions, all sound great, but I am not going to get too excited, hell I am putting it out of my head. We still are waiting on a Combat revamp a year after it was promised. And now a third party source (IGN) is saying there will be an expansion released along with the movie which is, HOLY CRAP only 2 months away now. My thought is that if there REALLY is an expansion, it will be part and parcel of the CURB and it will all be released with the movie. (can we say SWG preview with the movie...that would be intelligent marketing. Live the Star Wars saga on the ground and in space with thousands of other players, now an all new and improved combat system, etc etc)
I wouldn't hold my breath on third party news

psikobunny hit this dead on the head.
If there is a jedi only ship in space, I want deaths in space to count for jedi. Not only that, BH's should be able to track + kill jedi with a bonus in space as well.
You can't start mixing the space + ground systems now to favor one side profession (jedi). If your going to give the jedi a benefit to being in space, then they also need a penalty for being in space.

J3d3y3z (no such thing as Jedi's in SWG) getting ANYTHING in space makes me irrate. Theres a reasons why i dont PvP on the ground, and j3dy3z are one of them.
If its just a token chassis im cool with it, but if it's spec's exceed current ships in existance, (IE faster more manuverable then a Awing / Tie advanced) OR if they are granted any extra powers.. im very much done with SWG, and all that encompasses it, because chances are it will make them godlike in space just like on the ground. Skilless "i win" button spammers. One of the joy's of Space PvP is its j3d3y3 free, take that away, and screw it, id sooner go back to planetside than endure a space version of saber block or some super hypermanuverabe craft exceeding the performance of an A wing.
