I personally think that privateers have a tough time in space because the profile of most of their ships is really huge and they can only pack very few missiles to counter that.

However, if i was to go up as a privateer though id probably use the dunelizard or the scyk.

The space battles usually evolve between rebel and empire but I have seen freelancers take part too. It is a bit sad that freelancers don't get effective ways to declare for their freelance faction for example.

Nevertheless, there is quite some freelancer pilots active on Starsider... its just the lack of PvP in exchange for more RP.

I remember one week-long event in particular where rebels and imperials battled for lok system at the beginning and the end. Inbetween that time Lok was announced as under blockade by the side who won the first battle. They assumed patrolling duty in the system then while the other faction attacked from time to time and hired smugglers to break the blockade and bring in supplies.

The freelancers didn't need to be overt or anything to go there as quite a bit was roleplayed out. Sometimes it ended in a /duel with the attacking ships though.

We regularily run some smuggling RP plots, though not as often as I'd like. I am currently working to get it a bit more organised, to make it easier to run small spontaneous smuggle plots. Though the main thing in Starsider's space is factional PvP.

Which side of the GCW in SS space needs pilots more? Which side is more active?

Both sides are very active...though based on recent victories, I'd say the Alliance needs the pilots more.

Hearing about all this great stuff, I've noticed the Privateers are left out. I don't have JTL yet, but will soon, and I already have an imp and reb on other galaxies, so I was thinking of starting a privateer on Starsider. My question is, what does Starsider have to offer to the "neutral" crowd?

There were a few attempts to organise more events for freelance pilots but the ones I know about fell apart or never got started. I don't know much about how many freelance pilots get involved in the GCW events because I'm a roleplayer and there is nothing that would get me ic to take part in a big rebel vs imperial space battle but if your a freelance pilot of either faction you should be able to join in without much trouble, and with RotW we will actuelly have some small profile ships for PvP.

The problem with being a neutral pilot, full neutral not just freelance, is that you are pretty much excluded from teh GCW. Thats not always a bad thing. You can meet up with people and go out in squads for PvE and not have to worry about getting ganked by a lone a-wing with a chip on his shoulder. You can gather up a crew and take a YT-1300 for some really fun missions and hunting. Not a day goes by that I don't hear someone in a starport yelling, asking if anyone needs a gunner. With so many pilots on the server it's not to hard to make new friends and aquire some good wingmates.

Of course, if SOE would give us an actual neutral faction it would open up a whole world of hijacking, smuggling, piracy.....*wistful sigh*

The difficulty is, that would need to be a free update instead of an expansion (because everyone would have access to it), which is a lot of work for a non-expansion update. I'm quite interested in seeing what SOE's plans are post-CURB and RotW.

My guess is months of balancing the new combat system on live and trying to fix the damage the CU is doing to crafters and entertainers.

Jeyne reporting for Starsider Rebel Alliance pilot duties. I only had a chance to clear tier 1 last night before the game decided to axe my JTL registration. Now that I've gotten that fixed I'll be working on tier 2 tonight and trying to figure out the best way to get to the abandoned base for my tier 2 training.

It's probably been said before but, oh my goodness, did they have to put the tier 2 trainer in such an out of the way place? I tried to do the access quest only to find myself flying a Z95 against a squadron of tier 3 ships plus some tier 3 droid fighter. I didn't stand a chance. I got myself a Y-Wing and still didn't have any sort of chance with tier 1 equipment. It was a lot of fun trying though.
