Thread: Apparently I'm an exploiter...

Logic screams to me one simple thing, if this person was exploiting (and obviously i can't say he wasn't) wouldn't it be the stupidest thing in the world to actually start a thread on the forum where people are more knowledgeable about the place and circumstances than any other place?

The way i look at it is, if he or anyone was exploiting, they generally don't go round shouting it from the roof tops. It seems to me a bad case of lag at worst.

Well, elsewhere, "first strike" after being discovered exploting a bug was an effective tactic in diverting attention, believe it or not. Turning the thread in a completely different direction before any witnesses had a chance to put their voices in effectively defused the situation. But back to my point.

Anyway, I'm glad this thread didn't turn toosour, and hopefully those involved can get a clearer picture now and draw their own conclusions. I apologize for anything I may have said in my TS or the chat channels that may have led people to believe you were exploiting bugs. It's hard for people to sort things out in the middle of trying to hit the seemingly impossible. And unfortunately, none of those presenthadany real experience with thisspecific phenomenon. I can see that obviously your personal character has been vouched for by some on both sides, so I'll leave it at that.

I was wondering when you'd find this topic, we were fighting in corellia.

Huh. Not generally a lot of lag in Corellia since they cut back on the asteroids, so I dunno. Still, I know tempers can get hot in a hurry when what seems like a fair fight suddenly turns nasty--I blew my cool during that epulse stuff myself, heh--but I wish you guys had talked it out some before tossing exploit accusations around.

Anyway, I gotta run here, but I hope things get settled.. and if you guys figure out anything in terms of what was wrong there, PM me with it and I'll make sure to get a report to the devs.

You and me both...

Anyway, as was posted above, Abi and I were able to replicate the thing, I was basically in two places at once, he would shoot at me and I could see the shots going right behind me, and he was saying he was getting direct hits when he was actually missing me. Apparently theres a problem, at least around "The Void" POI, where the person you're shooting at is actually in a different place most of the time, though abi did score some hits eventually. He also said I was jumping a lot. Only thing I can think of to explain itis server side lag.

Actually, the problem is that you're a displacer beast in space.

Concerning the lag ... it was 20 on 6, you say? Add 26 players to ANYWHERE and you're likely to see a bit more lag...

Ok, an hour and a half ago, I was flying in my Actis with my group in the weekly starsider space pvp event. So we go in, find the imps, and engage. My group gets completely killed off to where I'm the only one alive, and shortly afterwards I get missiled into submission. So I go to deep space, repair off my damage, and regroup, and we head back in. Shortly afterwards, we find and engage the enemy imperial group (which outnumbered us around 4 to 1, they had somewhere around 20, we had 6). Most of my group dies off to the point where me and one other person are still alive while the imperial group is still strong.

After a few minutes of flying like this, I get a tell saying, "Exactly how are you cheating like that?" I shrug it off, thinking simply that this guy was new (which he was, at least new to the events) and hadn't seen much of veterans flying. That, and I really didn't want to stop maneuvering to send an intellegible reply. So I fly like this for a few more minutes, and then the imp fighters begin to disengage and fly towards my other remaining group member. My happens to actually retreat and fly the opposite direction, and I chase him for several more minutes, and then he hypers out.

Then I get a tell saying the imps are withdrawing. After several exchanges of tells I findthey believed I was using an exploited speed racer x engine, as I was, quote, "unhittable." I checked my speed bar and I couldn't go faster than1193, my normal overloaded top speed. And, I was in fact hit several times. I simply was able to shunt it away before I was hit again. Sadly, this is not the first time I've survived for over 5 minutes with several imp fighters shooting at me constantly. And there's also the fact that my groupmate survived just as long as I did, at least until they decided to break off. I even told the guy who originally accused me ofcheating to have a CSR check my stuff, and he said he would. I tried to convince him and the imp coordinator that I did not use a bugged engine, but apparently they can't believe that someone can just be good enough to pull something like that off.

So now I'm being branded as an exploiter and told to take steps to make myself easier to kill from what I can gather. Is it that people just can't handle someone who can best them?

It's too bad Tomo wasn't there, he's seen me flying like this before and acknowleges it isn't an exploit. Heck, he's outflown me before.

And now I'm waiting for their CSR to show to prove my innocence.

We had this on Chimaera im afraid.

Without the exploiter stuff anyway.

We organised a big ( and i mean BIG) DS battle. The Imperial side was 90% JSFs, we had normal ships and heavies.

We won!

The second week half the Imps turned up and we also had 90% JSFs (the well known Operation Sneaky B*st*rds).

We won, again.

The 3rd week half of half the Imps turned up, bla bla bla.

We won again.

The 4th week noone turned up!

I can only assume that we had an imperial side bolstered by those Imps who died once or twice in PvP then never PvPed again until they heard about the JSF being so overpowered, unfortunately (like many arms races) we were forced to match their technology, and then it became a game of pilot skill, and we had gone back into DS over and over until we knew how to fight.

The problem with the odds wasn't that the Rebels don't turn out. We were just working on short notice. I wasn't there because of joystick issues. (No sense being a free target for some Imp. )

We went and tested this theory in the same place we were engaging you guys. Me and Joken dueled and he was flying in a straight circle, with me right behind him, and yet it appeared that he was doing all sorts of fantastic manuvers.

Not to mention that I shot him about eight times in a row and had hits scored (shield flash, sound effects, etc) with no damage, but on his screen it looked like I was shooting about five-ten meters behind him the whole time. It could be an issue of server side lag, who knows, but nothing else but him was lagging. Perhaps there is a latency issue between his computer and the server, who is to say. All I know is that we reproduced the same effects without any of your exploits or other nimbly bimbly. Anywho, I'm just going to hope that all this nonsense dies down as everyone has a chance to cool down and think about it. If not, good luck to you.

Edit: Arrrr, always check the sneaky second page of posts before replying. I feel like such a noob sometimes, especially when I shoot off tons of fireworks for no real reason in game.
