ive taken out an entire rebel corvette group in kessel as a 1211 pilot playing on a server i had just created the toon on earlier that day. i was getting xp for my next tier2 box.it was asimple loadout, 20k mass tie with mkII engine mkIII shield and gun and mkI everything else. i even had a few k mass left to spare, i just didnt have any money to go out and buy stuff like a booster or armor.
basicly read the stickied pilot guides on this forum and make sure you loadout your ship and flight computer properly. then use some tactics and never lose situational awareness.
if you can do that then there is nothing in this game you cant accomplish solo.
pretty much agreed, although the deck is stacked pretty high in Kashyyyk occasionally.
I've just recently been getting into JTL after burning myself out on the Jedi grind and it's like a whole new World. I only bought JTL recently and for some bizarre reason I had always pictured it being a turn-based space sim, ala SWG (but in space). Ok, don't laugh
I'm at 3222 at the moment and just bought my first TIE Interceptor. The feeling of seeing a new ship in my datapad which looks better than the regular TIE has reminded me of the sort of things I love about games like this.. the reward after the effort. I know its no Oppressor or Decimator, but its my baby
Given I can get WO3 and CTSS2 (or 3?) loaded on a Flight Computer by someone else, I was thinking of getting 3322 next - so I can equip a badass lvl 7 gun (I had a lvl5 1670+ dmg one on my regular TIE, and my style of play is all about dogfighting - not jousting, etc). What sort of damage should I expect from a decent lvl 7 gun?

there's a few tricks, the biggest being you don't have to fight all the a-wings all the time in the escorts. the trick is to hit 1 ship per wave so hard it can't fight back anymore, and then let it fly around damaged and occasionally pot shot you. mind you, don't disable these ships, you gotta damage them to the point where they can barely shoot you, but still fly. if you do this, subsequent waves will never spawn and you'll have a 40 minute "read the forums" mission while you autofollow the escort. of course, it doesn't always work out that way, and you end up blowing up the wrong ship and just sorta slowing down the waves until the end of the mission.
another trick is to really pay attention to the mission, if you are flying by a static spawn and they come at you and blow you to pieces, remember where that spawn was. next time, try to stay a bit farther away from them. no sense in getting in any uneccesary fights. maybe a certain mission is just killing you, i can think of a few at the end of tier 4 that get really tough with the gunboats and novas. hey, endor space has tons of areas with high amounts of imp patrols, i soloed the 3rd mission (or was it the fourth) on my first time by luckily making a boost break towards the imp station in the astroid field. they distracted the novas long enough for me to recharge and blow it up.
the biggest thing though is your equipment, and knowing what each ship needs and doesn't need. gotta have the droid commands. gotta have equipment approrpiate to your level. are ships chasing you down and blasting you from behind? maybe a faster engine and a booster. killing you on the joust? maybe not only a bigger capacitor (for stunting) but more shields. (i found i needed over 800/800 when i hit tier 4).going 2322 isn't the best idea, because you can't really fit 5 and 6 equipment on a tie LN, but if you do decide to get a tie heavy you'll be set going that route. if you get a heavy tie, definately go 2323 next for wo3 and eo3.
if you are dead set on using the interceptor, maybe post your setup (when you get 3322) and i bet a bunch of people will have suggestions on improving your survivability. cheer up though, it's definately possible solo, and i doubt it has anything to do with your actual reflex ability or piloting skills that's preventing you from doing it.

I made the mistake in one mission of disabling every ship in a patrol I came across. I even thought by disabling them instead of outright destroying them that it would stop others spawning. Alas, I just ended up seeing "Incoming enemy fighters" on my screen every couple of minutes and eventually died a death of a thousand cuts.
Just for clarity, assuming a 3 ship wave - are you saying destroy 2 of them and leave one of them limping? (not disable, just severely crippled) ?
